  1. I realize that not all of you are Cakewalk users, and some are entirely here for the Deals forum only, which is cool! But were you aware that the last time they locked one of Larry's threads, the Deals forum was demoted to a sub-forum? That was probably the host's alternative to eliminating it entirely. If you all keep abusing the moderators, I would hate to see what happens next. I for one, like this forum and would prefer it to remain... at least for Larry's sake! Can you imagine how he would feel if the kids had ruined everything in his absence?

  2. I would say the content in Shipwreck Piano, and the other titles in the Cinekinetik collection [Shipwreck Piano, Fractured Piano, Malletopia, Malletension], are processed for use as ambient cinematic sounds. Described as unorthodox, atmospheric, & otherworldly. They offer some interesting alternatives to "straight" pianos and mallets! Very cool if you are into that type of sound! However, the Electromagnetik library is a great electric stage piano collection [Electric Grand C70P, Stage 73 Mark V, Wurly Model 120, Electric Piano Bass (the Rhodes that the Door's keyboardist used for bass)]. And Clavitube is probably the best sampled Clavinet that I have ever heard! Edit: I should have also mentioned the Art Deco Piano. Sampled at 8 velocities.

  3. With about 20 day for the final 2k, what will happen if we reach 27k? Will everyone get the free MIDI keyboard?

  4. I don't mind the persistent toast myself, but I also wouldn't be opposed to an .ini entry for something like ShowExportToastTime=0 where 0 is persistent and set by default, but you could also specify the number of seconds, so ShowExportToastTime=5 would be 5 seconds to show the toast before it gets dismissed.

  5. I brought Cinekinetik as one of my buy ins and Yes Shipwreck Pianos are great IMHO. Of course I like to mess around with those type of piano sounds as others love guitar sounds. So as a freebie what the heck grab at least the Shipwreck one out of the Cinekinetick bundle. Trust us, you're going to like it

  6. After @Zoposted his SSSR video I was all in. One of the few times that NOT waiting for the inevitable discount pricing was the “right” thing to do. IMHO, strike that (and I would if this stupid phone would follow orders), its NOT an option. It’s a fact. SSSR is that good! t thanks again @Zo

  7. If you have a spare slot, by all means go for MODO Drum as it does sound quite nice. Just be aware that while the drums are modelled: the cymbals are sampled so there is still a disk footprint. you have a little control over how they are played and the tips of your sticks. However, unlike Pianoteq which is a modelled piano with an engine capable of rendering sounds from electric pianos to steel drums to glockenspiels, MODO drum does not offer anything other than sticks - no mallets, no brushes (yet?).

  8. Alright, I really didn't wanted to comment any more on the matter, but I feel like adding a last comment since I was the cause. The mod is entirely in his right to close the topic. And I have no issue with him and him doing so. Rules are rules, wether you know them all or not. I clearly didn't, and that is on me. I feel some hostility growing here, so can we please just close this one too and get on with the show? Rutte!

  10. FYI, Roland sold Cakewalk to Gibson in 2013 (8 years ago). So Roland isn't very likely to get involved in the software side of this DAW ever again. Good luck with trying though! And Gibson shut down Cakewalk completely in 2017 (4 years ago). BandLab was kind enough to buy the intellectual property, but not the company, from Gibson and re-release Cakewalk as Cakewalk by BandLab. Since Cakewalk is now a free DAW, I don't see manufacturers lining up to make hardware for it. They are sticking to mainstream commercial DAWs for integration. But with a little bit of effort (not a lot, but you will need to read the manual) you can get the A-PRO to work fine with Cakewalk. With a bit more effort, you can get other controllers to work as well. But if you are looking for "plug-and-play" out of the box support, you will probably need to use one of those other DAWs. Your choice!

  11. The driver itself has nothing to do with mapping. The driver is only for MIDI over USB support. My post has a link to the "A-PRO Series Control Surface Plug-in for SONAR" that you will need for mapping in Cakewalk. It is not a driver, but is available further down the list of downloads for A-PRO at Roland's site. It's still available for download.

  12. I gave him that link yesterday as well as explained why. You probably missed that after he filled 2 pages with rants😮 I think what Roland and Yamaha have done is a good thing. People were to lazy to download the proper drivers so they handed them over to Microsoft and said, here use these instead of yours for our products. The driver says Roland in device manager so thats all you need to know. If it was generic it would say Microsoft. My A49 uses the same drivers after checking that out. They are from 2015. But they are solid and it’s the best midi driver on my machine. I think the OP is blaming the midi drivers with using the controller as a control surface. I don’t think that has anything to do with the midi driver. That is a different system that is out side my realm of experience. That requires a bit of research and fussing about are far as I can tell. There’s been no shortage of threads on the topic of using a control surface with Cakewalk. To the op. If you want to notify a member do this @azslow3 Now they will get a notification and hopefully respond. He’s very good at this stuff.

  13. Or like some.applications have a tickbox to say "Open export locatiom on completion". No need for toast at all then.

  14. Maybe we will get a free more Jam Points added to our accounts if we make it all the way.

  15. Typically when I do an export, I'll take that opportunity to grab a coffee, so: 1. I want to see that it's completed successfully ( the notification will also show any errors ) 2. I want to navigate to the location so I can copy it elsewhere or listen to it.

  17. AT5 5.0.3 sounds as fine as the newer versions of AT5 for half the cpu load. But let's give IK some time to look into this.

  18. Best purchases for me were two of the ones that got me into the GB to begin with: Mixbox and ARC w/hardware. MB gives you lots of presets which is a must for me. So many tonal variations but be careful as the rabbit hole is there. I’ll get to using ARC this weekend but it’s been on my Christmas list for ages! As for the freebies, the jury is still out but projects I’ve slapped Lurssen on gave a pleasant alternative to Ozone. A bit warmer and less tweaking than Izotope which can be a good thing. Its a little resource-heavy. I’m just getting into MODO Drums. It’s an option among others I use which is nice, but It’s lack of MIDI grooves kind of knee caps it for me right now. I LOVE Shipwreck Piano, though. And Sampletron—that wasn’t even on my radar but it’s awesome!!

  20. I picked up the MODO drum as one of my freebies. The MODO Drums impressed me quite a lot. I didn't get a chance to spend much time with it, but from the little that I hear and tried out.. its really good sounding. Large download though. I believe it's because of the sampled cymbals I read somewhere. The Hammond I am not clicking with. But the Sampletron really has great sounds for the stuff I like to do. My top list so far: - Sunset Sound Reverb - T-Rex Replica - Believe it or not. The Jimi Hendrix collection. I don't know why. I thought it would be a little gimmicky. But those vintage amps in AT 5 sounds totally up my alley. An unexpected surprise. I am a big Cooder fan.. so to me, the American Vintage B and D are totally my thing.

  21. OK, just messing around here with the X pedals, as a non-guitarist, so this is probably all wrong! All MIDI, and used the OTS Evolution Standard for the guitar. with MODO Bass, and Addictive Drums. Sent the guitar and drums to separate TR5 Sunset Studio Reverb busses, and MODO Bass to AT5 SVX 15N. Finished with Lurssen on the master bus, and exported to MP3. Another Brick in the Wall_OTS Evolution Rock Standard.mp3

  22. More options... if you have an extra freebie slot, it's a no-brainer. If not, I might pass. I also have EZD2 and AD2.

  24. I'm using a laptop (4 years old) with an i7 7700 CPU and was a little surprised to fail the compatibility checker for that reason alone. Win 10 is in support till 2025 so I see zero reason to upgrade to Win 11 so it can break my ageing audio interface and probably half my apps. I'm not sure being an early adopter of new Windows versions is a good place to be - it's called the bleeding edge for a reason... Good luck to those going over the top first Andy

  26. Since the plug-in still works in existing projects, it feels like a registry problem. Try unregistering the plug-in then re-register it. To unregister the plug-in at the command line as administrator type regsvr32 /u C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\TTS-1\TTS-1.dll

  27. That sounds like a good solution. I thought at first it would be best to have the check box under notifications in Preferences, but your idea is better. Most of the time I don't want it to open, but on occasion I would. I think adding that box near the Export button would be convenient,

  30. @chris.r Create a m/link junction and “park” most of Amp5 off the C drive. I’m on the road, on my phone, so I can’t run the details of how to do it. @scook has given the details numerous times. Search his “activity” and you should find it. Ridiculous that it’s not offered as an option in the install. t

  31. what are you computer specs. AT 4 never really crashed on me. Even when I used it on my old i7 setup. I do recall AT 5 worked but it really eate up CPU resources. Hence I upgraded to something slightly faster. But I am still on a system miles slower than what the youngs guys running M1 and the soundtrack score guys running crazy specs for orchestral music are running. AT 5 works fine on my end.

  32. I don't mean only high CPU. Yes, it takes a huge slice of CPU for what it is, a guitar amp software, but also huge share of disk space of my tiny SSD. And RAM. As if it was supposed to being used alone in music production, no other synths or processors allowed needed in the project. There is no other piece of software on my PC of that size I recon, apart from the biggest Kontakt libraries. All of my DAWs, virtual instruments, effect processors, all other guitar suites are much smaller. This one is huge. The other problem is occasional crashes starting with AT4. Even the biggest Kontakt libraries are never crashing for me.

  34. You guys really need to control yourselves, as challenging moderators can only go in one direction. This is not a demo cracy. We are guests here in our host's house, and it's always been this way. We must abide, like it or not. You don't like it, that's fine! You are entitled to feel that way. But your opinion will change nothing around here. If that's how you feel, please go elsewhere.

  36. I agree! Giving information that may help developers is one thing, judging them is another. After a long carreer in software development I know things are not as simple as they appear. Constructive feedback can help both the users and IK. If this is something that can be fixed, it reduces support calls, makes for a better user experience and increase sales. Everybody wins. Support has answered that they are looking into it, which is just fine by me. Let us just be patient. BTW, you are welcomed this side of the border anytime! 👍

  42. Not exactly: if you lower the bus fader, the level of what you hear decreases, but the source tracks are not affected. If you want to lower the volume of a bunch of tracks, there are several ways. Two of them: 1. Select all the tracks you want, hit Ctrl and drag one of the levels down. All faders will go down. 2. Group the tracks: select the tracks, right click on one of them, select group, choose a color. All tracks will be locked on this parameter together.
