  1. These are the headphones: Monoprice DJ headphones Expect what you pay for. I own a pair, I use them when I need close back headphones, and I have Sonarworks. They are not bad, but I have never been tempted to even try mixing on them.
  2. I just had the same problem this morning. I finally traced it down to me setting ransomware controlled folder access to 'on' without taking the time to set exceptions properly. This was suggested in Pete Brown's tweaking guide. I just didn't the full job. Amplitude could not access its preset folder and it was crashing Cakewalk.
  3. Actually it does. In IK Product Manager, if you go to preferences (third icon on top right), you will see what the download directory is. You can even change it. By default you will find the downloaded file(s) under Documents\IK Multimedia\IK Product Manager. There will be a directory for the product you just downloaded with the zip in it.
  4. @Pete Brown I just went through your guide and it is excellent and thorough. Great stuff! One setting I haven't seen talked about in your guide, or I simply missed it, is the game mode. Since I do absolutely no gaming on my DAW's PC (I have a PS4 for gaming anyway), I turned that off. But I wonder if it has any real impact, negative or positive? I will put my vote in with @Craig Anderton comment: I use Edge exclusively on my DAW's PC. I did not see the benefit in installing a second browser and Edge has filled my browser need without a hitch. I started using Edge on my other, much older PC, where the fan would just run wild with Chrome opened. I was surprised how well it ran and never looked back.
  5. First, make sure you have removed all instances of a plugin. Check the path Cakewalk/Sonar scans for plugins in preference and ma,e sure you do not have duplicates. Also, you may have installed vst 2 and 3 of some plugins, if you delete only one version the other will still be found by Sonar. If your intention is to start fresh, as if you never where a plug-aholic, you could rename the directories where the vst are installed and Sonar is looking for them. Then you create new ones of the original name and leave them empty for now. Of course, I would suggest you leave the directory of Cakewalk/Sonar default plugin directory alone. Do a scan and your vst list should be very short. You could then cherry pick the vst from the backup dir and copy them over the new directory. It's not something I have tried, but it should work.
  6. Just got sucked into this deal too. πŸ₯΅ I also hope it will prove to be worth it! 😊 If not, I can always tell my wife you guys made me do it! 🀣 I was gonna post that it still works, but @mibby beat me to it! Shucks!

  8. If done well and appreciated by other users, the solution for maintaining it accross update, would be that the dev embrace it and include it in the official version. Seeing how the devs respond well to the users request on this forum, it might be possible. If they get the UI already done and only need to incorporate it, they might agree to do it.
  9. 0%! That's not much of sale Larry! And it's not even on all plugin! 🀣
  10. The link points to someone's personal sale. Nothing about Groove3 there!?!?
  11. ^^^^ exactly that. Just got it. Haven't installed or tried it yet, but it is in my account.
  12. But you did say 'For free'. Your good, carry on... πŸ˜‰
  13. Why do you need to enter your PayPal account for something free?
  14. It says 'sold out', which is kind of funny for something that can be downloaded! A picture of an empty warehouse would add realism.
  15. I am no expert, but as what stated in another thread, you might want to play with the time base setting for your tracks. This will have an effect on things moving around or not when applying tempo. I believe that if you leave it at the default of 'musical', things will be moved because the tempo changes and it is trying to keep things at the same measures, and if you select 'absolute' it will keep them at the same timestamp independent of the new tempo. Try it and see if it helps.
  16. I can't tell you what it looks on 4k, but I can tell you what it looks like on a 2k 32" since that is what I have. I also have a 22" on top of it, on a pole, which I use to put plugins so that they don't overlap the Cakewalk main screen. The 2k 32" is on my desk at about the same distance that you would put any PC monitor, a few feet from me, at the back of a normal desk. Cakewalk is a blast to use with it. I do not have any scaling and so no blurriness at all, just a ton of usable screen real-estate. A pleasure to use, even with my old eyes. I have Presonus Eris e8 studio monitors, which are large with their 8" woofers, on each side of the 32". I am very satisfied with that setup to work with.
  17. I thought they would all be free BECAUSE of Lars! 😁
  18. Happy holidays from MontrΓ©al! May 2021 bring all the plugins you want and may they all be free! πŸ™ƒ
  19. Did almost as above ^^^ Got it to work using Spotify to login. No questions asked (hire or be hired), so I guess I won't end up in their listings. Then went to member benefits and got the code. Thanks to OP and others that chimed in. As Soundwise has put it, this is a more limited version which should not overwhelm a guitar player.
  20. Thanks for bumping, I had missed that one. Merry Christmas!
  21. Anyone knows if the crossgrade price will stick after the 30th? Still trying to figure out which edition to get and it's family time of the year more than studio time. I would rather wait in 2021 to decide.
  22. Yep, I have been using it for quite a while solely as track insert without problem. Running on a 5 year old i7 workstation running Windows 10 Pro.
  23. Well, honestly, I have Pro because the HP workstation I use for Cakewalk came with Windows 10 Pro preinstalled! For me, there is no benefit of using Pro. I don't need to access it remotly. I don't use any of the Pro's features.
  24. Wooaa! I just tried the Tiny Terror preset that I had made in AT4 and imported in AT5. It just sounds amazing. Actually, very different than what it sounded like in AT4. Like I was trying the same amp simulation from a totally different company, not from two different version of the same company's software! And that is only using AT5 CS, so not even adding VIR into the equation! I can't compare with a real Tiny Terror since I don't have one. But it kind of felt strange to have such difference from the same company's emulation!?!?! So, if you have done recordings using AT4, I suggest you keep AT4 around so your sounds don't change on you. But, if you are asking yourselves which I like best? AT5's rendition is even better for me, just couldn't stop playing, but took a break to write this. And there are a ton of other reasons to like AT5 over AT4! There is no going back now! I always had difficulty setting gain staging in AT4. It is so much better in AT5. It seems things fall into place by themselves! I just set my interface's input level correctly and they are just right in AT5. In AT4 they would always be too low. Since I am not of the pre-order kind of guy, I now have to decide which version to get. Hard to decide and may take me a little while still. For sure CS will not cut it for me. I am tempted by AT5 Max, but at my age I probably do not have enough lifetime left in me to try/use all that is included! 😱 Life is so short! πŸ˜† But I do want the Rockman if only to reminisce having one when it came out! And of course, play Def Leppard's Hysteria on one of the clean channel, which they did on the recording!
