  1. My wallet will hate me, but I keep looking at TRackS 5 Deluxe--I can get it for $220 with my JamPoints. That means I could pick from anything on the group buy list for my 2(5) free products. (TRackS 5 Max is the same price, but then there are no freebies.) Of course, an hour ago I didn't know I needed anything from IKM.

  4. With a SSD, it's the finite number of writes that is somewhat a concern. For many scenarios, you won't be writing enough to the SSD to bump into the issue. In a scenario where you're using a single M.2 for the OS, projects, audio files, and sample libraries... you're much more likely bump into the finite number of writes. The (obvious) advantage of a custom machine is that you can make it exactly what's needed; no major compromises. I agree with your advice above. I'd want separate drives dedicated to OS, Projects/Audio, and Samples. If making heavy use of samples, multiple SSDs dedicated to that purpose. If using something like Keyscape (where the C7 piano loads S--L--O--W), I'd want that on a fast M.2 Ultra SSD. M.2 for OS drive is (IMO) a waste. Win10 loads/runs plenty fast on a SATA SSD. If you're writing a lot to a SSD (especially if it's doing triple-duty as the M.2 example above), make absolute sure you have a backup. The M1 Mac Mini uses a M.2 SSD as its one and only internal drive. Early on, there were issues with the M1 Mini constantly writing massive amounts of data to the VM Swapfile. This was particularly concerning... as the internal SSD could have reached the maximum number of writes in well under 2 years. Apple addressed the issue in an OSX update, but the M1 still relies heavily on writing to the VM Swapfile. SSDs are tools to be used. Most folks will replace a SSD long before hitting the finite number of writes. If you're in a more extreme use scenario, be aware of the limitation and periodically check the health of the drive. Have proper backup; use SSD/s as needed

  5. It’s a D thing. The opening riff is something I realised I frequently play quite unconsciously when auditioning or creating synth voices. Created using; Three of Arturia’s Mini V (Mini Moog) Each one is the same basic voice that has had a little tweak of some kind, filter envelope reduced, different footage oscillators, filter cut off start point changed, Emphasis as Moog call it. Cherry Audio’s: Eight voice, and their new MemoryMood (Memory Moog) emulation. Written in D major, because I have a thing for both D and Dm. Thanks for listening.

  6. I have created and in the process of creating quick and dirty tutorials for new users on using Bandlab and Cakewalk from installation of Bandlab Assistant and Cakewalk, initial audio and midi setup, audio recording, midi recording, exporting music and tracks from Cakewalk, importing music and tracks into Bandlab Assistant and more. The purpose is to go over the most important points needed to get up to speed to create music and share it on Bandlab. This is the first Youtube video which has links to the other tutorials in its description: Bandlab Cakewalk - Part 1: Bandlab Assistant

  7. @DeeringAmpsIf interested in Arc3 but also items in the $199 range (mixbox, etc), it's a little more expensive option but it may be effective getting into the GB with a $199 item, getting the software-only Arc3 as a freebie, and buying the microphone separately, e.g. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/arcmic/?pkey=mems-measurement-microphone-for-arc-system (minus jampoints, plus shipping). Btw, you mention having an older Arc already. Per the Arc3 manual, if you have an older Arc mic it is still supported in Arc3 (although the documentation does recommend the latest mems mic better than older arc mics or non-ik measurement mics)

  11. Just buy one item for TRackS (but not a item included in TR Deluxe), use it in the free version of TR. Then if this thing does go all the way, you will have made out a lot better than buying TRD for $220. And if it doesn't go all the way, just choose fx that are not in Deluxe and buy TRD after that GB is over. That way you can get the most for the least. Example: Buy Sunset Sound module at $149. Then you can choose TR5 as a freebie, plus some of the best modules TR5 has to offer in the $129 range ( and you can count on this going to at least 5 freebies!) for free!! That would be the new Comprexxor, Stealth Limiter (excellent), and the Master 432 (also excellent!) and more! You could end up with the whole shabang for $149!!

  20. Thanks for listening and commenting! I'm currently halfway through a large project so I thought I'd share this in the meantime as it is the first song that I recorded for it. I'm re-recording songs that I wrote in 1991 so it is fun and inspiring to have more than just a dual cassette player and crappy microphone.

  22. Love to see love for other drummers even while Neil is a legend. Especially a lot of names that are not always on the tip of everybody's tongue like Jim Keltner, Manu Katché, and others. There are also some more "hired guns" like Paul McCartney's current touring drummer Abe Laboriel Jr (also did a ton of tours with Sting, Seal, and others) who deserve more attention.

  23. Anybody using "Synthesizer V" for vocals and would you be interested in sharing your thoughts? I tried Emvoice and liked it but I am still questioning if it is worth $200. Synthesizer V is the closest thing I can find. I just started experimenting with it and was wondering if anyone had any tips of tricks they could share? Thank you, yeto

  24. I ended up upgrading my EWSO Gold to Platinum for $99...easily worth the money, and Fleer is right...load times are way down with Opus, it has a preview feature in the browser, and is far more intuitive and robust than Play! When EWHOD upgrade to EWHODOE goes WAY down in price, then I'll upgrade but not until....$495 is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY tooo much!

  27. Several days ago, I tested the update-via-Bandlab Assistant method and for the first time, I was not able to get past the Downloading 0/0 hangup. However, the CbB in-app update method continued to work very smoothly for me as it has for quite a while. Did you try that route? Also, it seems like a number of people have had success with the "New Cakewalk installer" announced and discussed in this thread. Did you try that route?

  28. Are you pulling samples in (eg. drum VSTi)? If so, is there any way to tell the VSTi to run in "bounce" mode or similar? Does it also glitch if you export in realtime?

  30. actually one of the documentaries had the video clip of John saying "he isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles" after a reporter asks "are you the best drummer in the world"? and of course they're all joking around. Ringo himself in another documentary mentions how he was working with 3 frustrated drummers and his work was the result of trying to mediate them - again mainly in jest... what i found really cool is: he's a lefty who plays on a right hand kit. which is why most of his rolls are confusing to right hand drummers trying to emulate him... him being the greatest drummer after Rich and Peart 😉

  37. Hi:) @Teegarden UACC is the same for all Spitfire Libraries (Will be a Standard for other Companies hopefully) and the Keyswitches you can for sure use for all others, you only have to fit the number of it. Some have Articulations from C0 to F#0 only and some from C0 to B1, it varies.... So you can use this Artmap as a Starting Point Greetz;) Bassman.

  38. After two years of R&D with my team, we have finally released our new creations, playable Sound Sculpture Instruments using a custom-developed sampling engine and source audio recorded at beyond extreme 384kHz/32bit quality into the ultrasonic range in the form of VST/AU plugins. We have created a FREE instrument 'Rasa' to give a taste of our first four available instruments for everyone to try out. Hope you all enjoy it and looking forward to hearing all of your feedback and music you will create with it! https://www.mntra.io/rasa

  41. Well. I am throwing in Jim Keltner into the thread. I saw him live with Little Village (Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe in the band) a long time ago and he totally blew me away by what he was doing live. It sounded like there were two drummers on stage. He usually doesn't over play on records, but one of the most mesmerizing drummers I ever saw live. Cool interview withe guy

  42. It will be easy to gauge: we need one tier a day for the next 22 days... unless... they extend the group buy as they have done in the past! The suspense is killing me! Or maybe I should just take a few deep breaths and get a life! 😋 Maybe make some music with what I already have? Naaaa! Let's refresh the counters page one more time! 😆

  44. ALBUM - that's what we make!! Hi Lynn, I love your comments about this - I thought I was hearing Crowded House before I remembered who I was listening to. Your songwriting is brilliant from top to bottom! In a just world this album would go to number one. Never a truer word spoken!! Yesterday I had to sit through the top 100 on Spotify - doing a party mix - god it was depressing!! Great job Nigel

  45. Sounds very promising Steve. You mentioned putting it on stage so I'm assuming you're making a musical? I'm liking the music so far, esp the song ~4:20. Had some trouble understanding the narrative so not sure what's going on but I get the gist. Best of luck with this my friend but I'm sure you'll succeed. Can't wait to hear what you come up with. -Bjorn
