  1. I recently participated in a fun discussion with Principal PM @Pete Brown from Microsoft and Vin Curigliano of AAVIM Technology, who has been doing DAW benchmarking for a long time. We talked about a bunch of stuff, including the history of Cakewalk from the early years to now, our intersections with Microsoft’s technology over the last 30 years and lots of technical details about DAW development. You can listen to the podcast here. If you are a DAW geek and get through listening to all two hours of it, you win a prize. We’ll give you Cakewalk. Oh wait... 😂

  3. For only $1: - BLUES GUITAR LICKS for Kontakt 5.4.3 and higher - clear and easy to use interface - Control via velocity layers for more chord articulations on each key - an inspiring solo instrument whose solos take your mix to a new level of quality, thanks to the professional session player. https://gumroad.com/pasttofuturereverbs#CWHPC

  4. The podcast was very interesting. I found out Noel was actually offered a job at Bandlab before Bandlab made an offer for Cakewalk and Noel accepted the offer to join Bandlab working on the Bandlab stuff. Meng then proceeded to acquire Cakewalk from Gibson (Yay!) Noel and Ben still are here today making CbB one of the best Windows DAW's IMO

  13. Well, you only giving money to Presonus once, instead of for the rest of your life so...Guess which one Presonus will prioritize. At least you're not required to offer billing information to try or demo products like you have to do with Adobe nowadays.

  15. They way every single DAW manufaturer wants to create their own social media hub and then introduce a subscription model to justify that is 100 times more annoying.

  16. https://isotonikstudios.com/product/arpex/ ARPEX is an expressive arpeggiator Max for Live device. It works just like a regular arpeggiator with the addition of MPEfunctionality. Incoming MPE slide and pressure data is used to control the octave transposition and note duration for each individual note. Free until 23 March, usually £18. Compatible with Ableton Live 11

  17. I found this demo. It shows a really nice playability in all tempos and pitches: https://vi-control.net/community/data/audio/44/44805-85c94bcb46a8fefe7883fe79977f4d71.mp3 Nice one and almost for free

  18. That’s exactly how I feel. The way they are pushing subscription is a turn off to me, but so long as they never force it on people who prefer to buy, I will try to tune out the endless noise pushing subs I don’t need or want.

  19. How do they continue to find so many "new features" all the time. Anyone buying any DAW these days is already going to get something that will probably take them years to master and have everything you could possibly think of for music making. Surely there is a ceiling on how many more "new features" can be incorporated into a DAW or at least those features that would actually be useful to the home music maker. It's actually turning me off a bit. Everytime I see "new features" it says to me "more clutter" and "more complicated" and of course "more that can go wrong". Now if they said they were including some fantastic new megagig library or synth with really stellar sounds, that might be interesting.

  23. thanks! yeah, I was in the same case, it's tempting to get the new stuff and WUP at 40% off, but needed new Mac compatibility for my V9's that wouldn't have been included even in Mercury (and I certainly don't need Mercury). Ended up purchasing through Koby... Once in 7 years isn't bad, hope I can go that long again

  24. I think the problem is if you got stuff from IK in group buys then Total Studio isn't a great deal. Nothing wrong with that. If you're not in a rush, wait for the super sale on Total Studio that we all know will be coming at future point in time I will add that I am one of the crowd that really likes ST4-max.

  26. I already apologized for digging in the dirt in that TS3 thread after basically being called mentally deficient as I shouldn't have responded in kind. You continue to have a beef with me and IK and I've offered to speak about that one-to-one but I haven't heard from you. Stop being vague, be direct as a mod requested - I'm sorry if someone not bending to your vague (or rare direct) commentary doesn't work for you. You and a few others have made it clear that you don't feel I'm welcome here when I don't break any rules. I was going to take that as a cue to leave, but it isn't great for the many others who aren't taking every opportunity to jab at me and IK while ignoring offers to help by speaking with you directly. There's an ignore function on this forum that you can use if you don't like seeing my posts. Otherwise if I've broken rules, you can report posts and mods will take care. I've never been "protected", that's frankly a silly accusation.

  28. For me this isn't a bad deal at $299. I don't have Modo Drums or the Hammond. I would get AT5 Max, the other ST4 sounds, Mixbox and the new reverb.

  32. The last time that I saw Rush live in concert, there was an amazing drum solo from Neil Peart (RIP) that blew me away. In addition to his legendary acoustic kit, he was using electronic triggers on his kit to play synthesizers or samplers and all kinds of crazy sh*t I'd never heard before. Jaw on floor after! 🤪 So I'm all for channeling my inner Neil Peart inspiration into this cheesy AIR electronic drum instrument. Doubt I'll even get close, but it might be fun to try!

  41. I have to agree with you Andy, after reading Kurt's comment, it made me feel that drums and bass could pull the melody out and it hadn't occurred to me while writing the song .. so I have tried laying complimentary bass with a drum track, just to get a feel .. maybe it's my skill level but it spoiled the 'message' and has not worked so I wont be returning to this song with a view to alter it. Thankyou for listening and the helpful comments.👍 Steve
