  4. So I figured I had to get it just to see. $1.41 with the Paypal exchange rate. They have removed the jBridged version from the installer. Website says: So the installer doesn't let you control where it places things. By default it sticks it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins and it places the system files and what not in c:\Program Files (x86)\GenesisPro I moved the two plugin DLLs (only one is a plugin, the other is support) into a new directory on a Content drive that is writable by my normal user account. Synthedit plugins love to write files just under the DLL. Sure enough, this was enough to get around the requirement that you run the DAW/Plugin host as admin. I suspect you could put the plugin in a directory under your 32-bit VST2 plugins and change the access rights so that it's writable and it would work without having to run as Admin. The first time I started it in Cakewalk it wouldn't play any sounds. I was afraid it was because I run at 48khz. I restarted Cakewalk and tried it at 44.1khz and it worked just fine (both times the UI came up and worked just fine, just that first time it made no sounds). Afterward I tried 48khz again and it worked. I'm not sure if there is an issue there or not. This is with the Cakewalk built in bitbridge. I haven't tried the full/licensed version of jBridge yet. It seems to work OK in CbB without being ran as Admin, if you have it in a writable directory. I was able to play through a bunch of the presets. The UI is very tiny on my 4k monitor. And it's not resizable. It also works and feels exactly like a Synthedit plugin, which isn't really a good thing. I haven't spent any time trying it out though, but I'll be honest I wasn't very impressed at all. But I may be judging it on a high bar against a bunch of very pricey synths. Even WA Production's Ascension seems better to me (and it's pretty cheap). Synthmaster, VPS Avenger, Rob Papen anything, etc. This might have been interesting in 2010, but the world has changed. A few of the sequence presets seem nice. It clearly does have some things under the hood, if you can get at them. Many of the presets are kind of bland though. I only see 128 presets, I may be missing something there. May need to look at the manual or watch some videos. I wouldn't have bought it for normal synth prices. I'm not really sure what I can get out of it to be honest, but at less than $1.50 I'm OK with that.

  7. have tested on my Surface book pro 2 .. my first impressions are : globally, it consumes a lot of CPU (about 16%) on its own, the 32bit mode does not seem to be appropriate for this VST, and cause issues on x64 CBL Daw. The sound is impressive ... I encountered difficulties to install (invalid license etc ...), moving the DLL in another directory, because by default it install everything in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg... I managed to solve everything on my own I have Jbridged it in 64b, nevertheless I still have glitches with this VST and sometimes drop out audio in CWB !! I had to increase the latency on my ASIO driver, (scarlet focuscrite). it's the first VST that forces me to do this. most probably due to the fact that it goes through a 32 / 64 bits bridge ... and clearly the code must not be optimized correctly. C++ ? in summary, it is urgent that the editor wears it in 64bits native. nevertheless for 1 euro it's just impressive. the harmonize function is bluffing !! so it's a VST to have in your collection. and especially to follow in its evolution.

  9. Story about a guy returning to his home after too many years in the cold world. It's been done before. It's kind of old school country with that unashamedly sentimental vibe to it. Fantastic vocal by Doug Kirby! Many thanks Doug. I tried hard for a realistic fiddle sound and I mostly like the result. There are a LOT of articulation controls in Bolder Sounds Fiddle but I only used 3 or 4 of them. 17. So the mistake is really on their end. They didn't guard against such possibilities. To offer something and then take it away is not a good thing for one who is not familiar with their sounds. We live in an entitled culture unfortunately they will not be popular.

  19. But since I have spent so much with them I can't get these good deals. Last thing I got from them was the Focusrite Console strip. And I didn't use any coupon with it other than the one for the Focusrite. Every month since Jan I haven't used my $50 voucher. Can't even give it away. BTW, I already have this one.

  23. I'm not sure an external drive will ever give you the speed of an internal drive of the same type. I think some of the sample vendors recommend against it, but this may be old information because it comes from an old guy. I would recommend getting a Samsung internal SATA SSD like your EVO 850. I also suggest that you splurge for the biggest one you can afford if you are serious about using your DAW in the long run. (Prices continue to drop on SSD's as you have surely noticed.) I recently had to go from 1 to 2TB for my Audio Drive and 2 to 4 TB for my Samples Drive, just because everything adds up. Good luck

  25. @Peter - IK Multimedia I'd like to ask for a feature request to the IK Authorization Manager please. Is it possible to allow pasting a password when logging in? I use a password manager to create strong passwords, and it's quite inconvenient to manually enter a 20-character alphanumeric-special-character password when logging in. The Custom Shop app allows pasting in passwords; just not the Authorization Manager.

  26. I'm not a DSP guy; there are people on the forum who know a lot more about audio than I do, but I'll step in anyway. Two digital filters are FIR and IIR which are Finite Impulse Response and Infinite Impulse Response so impulse responses are used in filters. I think speaker IRs are basically filtering (EQing).

I put the song up on Facebook and I'm not really getting many likes so I'm really worried about the whole thing. It's my version of Elvin Bishop's Fooled Around and Fell in Love. Thanks for your help! Tom.

  30. Yeah, you will likely need a regular keyboard or pad controller to drive soft synths. FWIW, SI-Drums is velocity sensitive but most of the kit pieces have only 3 or 4 velocity layers. Until you get a proper MIDI input device, forget about clicking the plug-in UI with a mouse; use your PC keyboard and the virtual controller built into the DAW for real time input or enter the notes directly in the step sequencer, piano roll or staff view.

  31. Back to Hume's point: the fact that 99.99% of people choose not to excersise it does not mean that free will does not exist. Neither does the fact that things happen which are beyond one's control. The existentialist position is summed up as "man's existence preceeds his esscence." My cat here is a predetermined being. He is a hunter and a carnivore. He can not choose otherwise. In fact, it would be harmful to him if he could. Despite the fact that he has a ready source of food available for the taking that he need do no work for, he still exhibits predatory behavior and will still hunt down and kill things. I, on the other hand, can be a hunter or a vegan. I can even be one thing one day and another the next. If a debilitating health condition forces me to abandon a long held career, I can allow it to devastate me emotionally and psychologically or I can view it as an opportunity to grow. If the cat (assuming his natural state without the human intervening to do the deed for him) can no longer hunt, he dies. That simple. Back to Neal Peart's point: even if you do not choose to exercise your free will, that in and of itself is a choice. We really have no choice but to choose. One way or another. As Sarte put it: "man is condemned to be free."

  32. It does not currently run except as a 32-bit plug in 64 bit DAW's that have native bridging, so Cakewalk might work. The plan is to graft on a BitBridge version rather than compile for 64. Anyone actually install and use this on CW? Still at this price it might be worth the bandwidth and storage, but more likely not the learning investment. I am at least a year behind on mastering the synths I have bought as no-brainers over the years. What I need is an inexpensive brain. Never Mind:

  34. I had success using AZController to set up my nanoKontroller both with the Cakewalk interface and parameters on my favorite plug-in. I don't have the links handy, but he has some videos that helped me get started and he has a website that should be easy to search for. Maybe it will help you with the Zoom. I should add that with the nanoKontrol, all of the sliders and buttons are configurable with the Korg Editor. I am not sure Zoom let's you do that or if they even publish what data the controls use. I looked at the Zoom site a few hours ago and saw that as of February 2020 they still seem to be testing their software with other music programs. You might want to see if they are testing Cakewalk and if not perhaps you could ask them to include it in their tests. Not sure if you saw this SOS Article, but it does say: To me this tends to confirm my initial thought that the window you described was coming from the Zoom software. Perhaps they need help developing their driver options. The R8 looks handy; maybe you can help them out. I looked for a document with a table of data output by the R8's controls--would be handy to map the R8 control data to anything else. I couldn't find such a table. Perhaps you could record the midi output of the R8 (each control, one at a time) to make your own table--especially if they don't have a utility like Korg and other do to set up the controls yourself?

  40. Hi, guys! I'd like to propose a list of additional options and simplifications to the Cakewalk workflow, and would like to see how many people would welcome the simplifications. Vote below if you want them. This first part is about: - the possibility to also create/adjust soft synths from the Console View.
