Kontakt 7's new browser & preview makes it a must use. I can't imagine going back to K6, especially when having tons of boutique libraries. That preview feature is a god send especially when having most of collector's edition installed and almost 4TB of 3rd party libraries. I've found so many incredible sounds I would never have found or used (without literally loading every single preset in every library and auditioning everything). Now I can just type "female vocal staccato" or "taurus bass pedal" or "taiko" or whatever, and the browser will show me every articulation / preset in every library (3rd party or Komplete) that matches that description and an instant audio preview before loading it (for most libraries), and just double click and it loads. Also great for quickly comparing similar instruments across multiple libraries before making a decision to load something. Going back to Kontakt 6? Not a chance. The UI changes are hardly interesting. I still use Kontakt 6 for legacy projects and there is no way those UI differences are a deal breaker unless you're absurdly *****. They are basically identical except the browser. (FYI, just adjust preferences in K7 to look and behave exactly like K6) - except K7 blows K6 out of the water on a 4K monitor.

I have a Modular G2 Engine expanded. It's one of my favorite synths and the Clavia software editor is still compatible with Win10. IMO the most difficult part would be replicating this patch editor. The Nord Modular front panel does not help much without a dedicated editor for patching. And to create it as a VST plugin would be even harder I think. The native modular synths of today have surpassed the Nord in terms of sound quality and versatility though.

We can retire this one when yours shows up. I've been posting or updating the headline of the original post for the last few months and thought I'll continue.

Some of my favorite composers are: Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsokov, Shostakovitch, Balakirev, Mussorgsky, Borodin, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Glazunov, Balakirev, Arensky, and a few others. As far as Russian People, the few that I have met have been nice people. In all my travels, I find the world populated by mostly nice people, with, unfortunately, a small percentage of jerks. Glad you found it useful Grem 👍🏻 It was someone on the old CW forum who originally suggested it to me, and I still use it to this day as a quick and dirty alternative to BIAB. You can do a surprising amount with it. These videos are worth a look if you want an initial look and then to dig deeper. The same guy also does some JJazzLab (ALC's suggestion) reviews on his channel which is worth mentioning again as it can make use of the huge number of Yamaha style files and even has some built-in.

yes it would see Kontakt as a single synth to freeze. one option is to have multiple Kontakt synths - my understanding is there is little penalty for this approach with Kontakt as it has some form of memory sharing for the application part, and @msmcleod did some analysis on that. another option is disconnect the tracks you DO NOT want to freeze, then freeze the synth. then disconnect those tracks, mute those related MIDI tracks (or clips), and unfreeze the synth. then reconnect the other tracks you want to hear the MIDI audio from. a bunch of steps but not too long with a limited number of tracks.
