The Lite versions have a tiny footprint (<50 MB) so they don't have proper samples. They sound surprisingly good though and are a great choice if you need a decent piano for an old/slow computer. The Pro versions have 5-8 GB of samples which are renamed .wav files (the samples load pretty slowly, but that's the only negative thing I can say about these pianos). They're very good for the price and the plugin and its UI are great too.

I don't think they have upgrades. Opus is much nicer to use and more modern than Play. It's hard to tell if it's worth ~$180. I'd say if you're somewhat happy using Play wait till you find a deal you really can't resist. There are good bundle deals pretty often. Here's a video of the new features, some of them are only useful if you have a subscription though.
