  2. Regarding mouse cursors, there are some we've yet to update for high DPI. It's logged and we'll get to it in due course. FWIW, obviously they look fine at 1080p, but they also look OK (not perfect, but definitely acceptable) at 4K too. This is because 4K is exactly 4 times the resolution of 1080p, so the scaled up cursors still look sharp, albeit a little pixellated, because one 1080p pixel equals exactly four 4K pixels. 1440p, on the other hand, doesn't match up neatly with the old cursor size like 1080p and 4K do. Since 1440p can't scale them up perfectly by whole numbers, it tries to fit them in between the pixels, which makes them look blurry. It's definitely something we should address. Thanks for the reminder.

  5. Not just PreSonus - also Universal Audio, Avid, Waves, and Native Instruments, among others. It seems the industry is going in the Burger King direction - "have it your way." The beauty of software is that the Bakers can tweak the model easily over time. Also, I can vouch from personal experience that making backend changes to accommodate different purchasing models can be a nightmare. IMHO the Bakers are doing a fine job of nurturing Sonar and keeping it alive and growing. I don't think there's any question they deserve compensation not only for their current efforts, but for the work put into the program while it was free. It seems the only question is what form that compensation should take.

  6. "Considering the financial journey, I don't think we're gonna perpetual licenses. They don't provide the instant profit shareholders demand and fail to keep users tied to an ancient piece of software which hasn't received significant updates for the last 20 years." Perhaps you missed ripple editing, articulation maps, tempo tracks, and numerous stability fixes while it's been free Maybe you're barking up the wrong tree? My version runs better than it ever did before Bandlab took over

  7. The problem is that Cakewalk's VST scanner doesn't detect that anything has changed with this update because the new folder name is same as the plugin name so it doesn't update the registry listings. When Cakewalk later goes to access the plugin it hits the folder not the plugin and it fails to load. You can either: delete the registry listings for the Eventide plugins then rescan in VST Settings - do full reset & rescan you can move the plugins out of the subfolders Comments: you need to know how to edit the registry and where to find Cakewalks plugin listings. In case you are IT literate, but haven't done this before, they are kept under: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Cakewalk VST X64\Inventory Just to reiterate: IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO EDIT THE WINDOWS REGISTRY - THIS IS NOT YOUR SOLUTION. painful and time consuming if you have a lot of plugins. Under top menu - Edit/Preferences/File section - VST Settings click on Reset button only a temp fix - next time you install an Eventide update you'll have to do it again. Edit: Another possible alternative is to temporarily move the Eventide VST3 plugins out of the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 folder then run the Cakewalk VST scanner, then move them back and rescan again.

  9. Yes, that’s $15 a month. To my knowledge it has not been confirmed that BackStage Pass will always include Sonar. (If it was confirmed, I would “pop” for the $150 a year option) There remains much speculation and hand wringing. Unfortunately, that is all we know at this time. t

  14. I get your reasoning. But why not both? Why not try to grab the audience, which wants to own a piece of software like myself and try to gather the others with a subscription plan? Just look into all the services you have to pay for nowadays: An average person has Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify/Apple/Youtube, Console Online Plan, then maybe something like Photoshop, UAD, Plugin Alliance, Distrokid, Office 365, Gym, and many more things. Now we are witnessing everyone getting greedy and trying to get some of your money too. Either they're raising the prices, cutting features, or introduce the userbase to upgrade plans, while new competitors enter the market with their own services. I was very open to all of this, to a certain degree, but now not anymore. We reached the point of oversaturation and i'd rather buy something, if i need it, then pay them a pile of my hard earned money every month, till i cancel the service and lose access to everything.

  15. If you have an older synth, try this which covers a lot of models, and it just might suit you. If the synth you have is in here, you can create a new ins for just that synth from this file too, simply by deleting the unnecessary stuff. You do have to be careful not to delete any needed text for it to work, and I haven't done this in years, so I'm afraid I can't help with that! Roland.ins

  16. I'm not sure why people keep saying " Everybody is going to subscriptions"?? That seems a misconception. I just was researching for the video I just made and I visited at least 14 other DAW websites and only Pro Tools was a subscription. All the more popular DAW's are all cash sales. Most have a few options starting with basic versions at affordable pricing. What is shocking is the sticker price for the top tier versions of some of them. You can bet that the marketing folks at Bandlab have been studying those same pages I visited and using that as part of making the upcoming decisions on pricing. So please stop overreacting about this. WE DON'T KNOW YET! And if it really concerns you why not send Bandlab a Email or use the "contact us" feature on the web site. Posting here might get a little notice from a few Cakewalk staff members but they have no control over this and it might even be doubtful Bandlab listens to their opinions. It is a good time to voice your concerns and it's great to share those with all of us, but that won't be heard by those who count.

  22. as John said and perhaps make yourself a template with everything you need on it first. then use that to create the individual projects. then removed extraneous tracks and synths etc later (or never). maybe start with a bunch frozen then as you expand you work, unfreeze it. regardless, composition and performance (except Jazz) are usually two distinct processes. so consider getting your composition mainly right first using something like Musescore etc, then implement the performances.

  23. NOW INCLUDED AS A FREE UPGRADE The Centuria is the most advanced and accurate emulation of the Klon Centaur, created with Overloud's Fluid Capture technology. In addition to the original circuit, the Centuria emulation offers 2 different mods. The C14 mod extends the action of the Tone control knob. The Fat mod makes the model suitable for bass guitars by extending the low end. Overloud’s “Fluid Capture” is the only technology able to capture the exact tone of a device and, at the same time, replicate the full dynamic of each knob. This is done by capturing the device at multiple settings and retrofitting the model to recreate the sampled tone. It is included in TH-U Premium as a free upgrade. Existing users can download the upgrade for free by logging into their Overloud account. https://www.overloud.com/products/th-u Free Centuria presets also available: https://overloud.com/downloads/presets 1.4.23 -> 1.4.24 ---------------- - Added Centuria overdrive stomp to Premium edition - Added possibility to toggle via MIDI the Direct Preset Recall setting - Show which one is the current setting for the "Initial sound chain" setting - Fixed appearance of standby switch on Made in Rock JimP amp 1.4.22 -> 1.4.23 ---------------- - Added support for future packs - ALT and SHIFT can be used during launch of the stand-alone app to start with default audio settings and sound chain, respectively

  25. MIDI does not store offsets of any kind. However, when Cakewalk exports or saves a MIDI files from a project that contains time offsets (from articulations or track time offset parameters), the actual positions of the MIDI events themselves in the MIDI file will be changed to reflect those offsets. When I saved the project as a MIDI, the temporal placement of the MIDI events themselves were changed - that is, the offsets were baked into the actual MIDI events in the file. I actually tested this before answering your question. I added an articulation map that produces an offset to some MIDI events. I reloaded the resultant MIDI file into Sonar. The MIDI events themselves were offset.

  29. I think it is safe to assume that many will flee if the deal will be "membership" only. It would be strange to assume Bakers didn't learn a very valuable lesson from Waves, when they tried to pull off a fast one and had to back peddle it within a VERY short period of time. Even after they came to their senses, it stopped me from having any interest of what that company had/has to offer. From what Noel had mentioned in the past, there will be different OPTIONS and I hope (and have faith) perpetual licenses will be available and fairly priced. If not, there are many choices of DAWs out there.

  32. So far, users have to wrap our heads around, 1. The announcement was made, what, nine months ago? It's uncommon to say the least for a rollout to take this along. Especially since.... 2. There really are no feature updates. Just a HiDPI update and some bug fixes, which is expected from any product. 3. There has been zero clarity as to how much the thing will sell for and how it will be paid. The "pssst, over here" Bandlab sneak peek thing is lame. Sorry, it just is. Someone who subscribes to Bandlab just for the Sonar access might end up paying twice one the real pricing is rolled out. This is the weirdest, softest rollout of any software I have ever seen, bar none. 4. And Bandlab...some legacy Cakewalk Plugins and Virtual Instruments aren't really worth much of anything in 2024. Session Drummer? Concrete Limiter? C'mon man.

  34. As with most things in life, there is no perfect solution. Applying the offset and exporting the new positions is good from an audio standpoint, perhaps this is the most important. From a visual standpoint, the notes in the new positions will look slightly out of place in the piano roll view, and perhaps even more so in the staff view. Also, there is no way to negatively offset a note that starts at 0:00:000, so you'll want to pad the beginning of your song with some empty time.

  36. Upgrade price for me is €69 (nice). If that would be based on the (still?) free VCA, that's a pretty good deal. I'm tempted, it's another 2A and 1176, but the added features like drive could be interesting.
