  1. I too paid Gibson for the Sonar Lifetime license. Gibson screwed us not Bandlab. It's really not that hard a concept to grasp. As such I don't realistically expect Bandlab to offer me a free lifetime license to the new Sonar. I'm thankful that Bandlab has been providing free updates and support all this time. I look forward to seeing the new Sonar.

  2. We stopped buying them and got lower minimum spends back... Exactly what I plan on doing now. Ignore their sales if the new vouchers don't work out.. plenty of other developers and sales.

  3. https://www.toyboxaudio.com/pages/thump-one Toybox has announced the release of a synthesizer plugin that has been designed with Toybox’s modular, ‘west-coast’ approach to circuit layout. Thump One comes with gritty oscillators, subtle cross-modulations and high-quality modeling giving the plugin its unique sound. The synthesiser features two powerful engines that can be layered together for a variety of complex sounds and textures. The ‘Kick’ engine features a great sounding ‘wavetable’ oscillator, with a set of wavetables created from a selection of clean and processed analog kick drum sounds. The ‘Kick’ engine has a high quality saturation and filtering circuit plus an additional ‘Buzz’ circuit to add a buzzy ‘broken speaker cone’ effect. The second engine, ‘Layer’ uses an accurate model of the ‘supersaw’ oscillator found in the Roland JP8000 synthesiser, this oscillator has a selection of operating ‘modes’ that configure the oscillator to play in intervals and adds various amounts of modulation to create noisy, retro synth sounds, fuzzy glitches or just plain noise. The synth comes with a selection of 150 presets by professional sound designers, covering everything from thunderous sub bases to raucous acid leads. Thump One is available to download in VST3 and AU plugin formats for Windows and macOS for free. The standalone iPad app and iOS AUv3 plugin version is $3.99 USD.

  4. At Walmart.com of all places. I was at GC the other night looking for replacement earpads for a set of Sony MDR-7506 that I had snagged in the "free" box at a yard sale and took the opportunity to try out various studio cans. My favorites turned out to be the K240's. I'm a headphone 'ho, I have a few of the traditional studio faves, ATH-M50x, Beyer DT880, Superlux 681, but my favorite of the ones I listened to at Guitar Center was the AKG, so I'm getting a pair of those. $55 for brand new seems like a steal. BTW, when (not if) you need to replace the pads on your MDR-7506's (or any other headphones), my favorite pad replacements are the Krone Kalpasmos Instant Chill, which have a layer of memory foam and a layer of gel on top of that. They improved the MDR-7506's sound by bringing the drivers closer to my ears and sealing against my head better. I had found them lacking in the bass dept.

  9. I love it and use it a lot, but I am a big fan of the company in general. You can get a free demo of it on the Audiomodern site to decide if it's for you. This discount isn't much different from the store-wide sale of 35% off from last Black Friday. If you do like it, the question is whether you want more Audiomodern. There are many great deals on Bundles during BF. I like the Audiomodern/Lunacy Audio policy of regularly offering free expansions. Playbeat 3 comes with a lot.

  10. And we must remember that there was that conversion tool (ReaCWP) that @azslow3 wrote to take a SPlat/SONAR/CbB project into Reaper which in my case was pretty darn accurate. So, @PavlovsCat can combine all this and take his CbB song into Reaper, the Reaper song into DAWproject and the DAWproject into StudioOne. We live in exciting and interesting times.

  16. As I remember pointing out years ago, if BandLab's authentication server ever goes offline, you can set your Windows system time and date or run a program like RunAsDate to make CbB think that your authentication hasn't run out. d00d, I am 3733t! I haxx!

  18. Over the past 3 years there have been an absurd amount of opportunities for $40 + $25 off voucher opportunities when you factor in the weekly discount codes they would send for specific products which could be stacked. It is true that between the 32-40 range of things that you couldn't get for free (with a $20 no min spend gift code) were a bit more rare. The problem is lots are $39.99 during those deals which wouldn't qualify - thus this is actually a major change. That only lasted for maybe a couple months and then went right back down to the way it was for years. They also did this due to a rather generous $50 bundle that was out and they didn't want to let anyone get it for $25. So frankly it isn't a good example.

  19. <rant> Begin? Its been going on for months now. "is New SONAR going to open my old projects, will I get New SONAR for free because Henry screwed me over," etcetera, etcetera, etcetera; ad nauseum. I apologize in advance, but please grow a set children; everything is going to be fine. And YES, you are going to have to PAY to keep development going; this is America and free enterprise ain't free... and here's the good news, you are in before the lock! </rant>

  20. Turning off monitors will rarely affect things, so that is typically fine to do. However, both sleep and hibernate modes have issues native to Windows (not the DAW), so those are two you should avoid. Windows has never been elegant with sleep/hibernate modes, and has internal functionality that is hard to defeat or even figure out at times (like shutting off hardware/ports that do not come back online as they would from a boot).

  21. If the Korg has a driver and a USB port then you can connect it directly to your computer. In that case yes it should power up with your computer and before you open Cakewalk. If you use a midi cable to an interface then it doesn’t matter if the Korg is on or off. Cakewalk will see the midi port of the interface and if that box is selected in midi preferences then Cakewalk will show it as an input option on midi and simple instrument tracks. Cakewalk has no way of knowing or caring what is connected to the interface. It is communicating with your interfaces midi driver not the Korg. Only USB midi connection need a driver and then Cakewalk will identify it and it will show as an available device on the list in preferences.

  33. Nice, interesting song!😉 Few comments: Vocals (mainly during the intro) seem not entirely in tempo and sometimes before the beat which was a bit distracting. After that the vocals mostly sound in tempo The drums are a bit clean/static could be more lively Love the change with the sax solo, except it sounds dissonant with the chords at moments making it messy. Maybe it is introduced on purpose to emphasize what the subjects experience. I don't think the song needs that, the unexpected change (sounds a bit hallucinating) is great by itself. If it's a sample, I would change the underlying chords to match it, or use Melodyne to change a few sax notes Love the changes to the different sections and you have a nice voice! We need more original songs like this...

  34. Thanks guys. I think I got it. I have the TTS-1 Piano on track one. Track one's midi out was set to Master but the midi in was set to SI Strings in(don't rem doing that). Anyway, I changed it to "all inputs ch 1" and it seems to be working now. The sound isn't cutting out anymore. From now on, I'll make sure to double check my routing. Anyway, Thanks for all the help!

  36. That little trick, if you could call it that has been around for many many years, I tried it many years ago on some program, but nah it didn't work. For the amount of time it has been around and used, I would say any programmer worth their weight would have solved it by now, and if not I'd personally would be wary about anything they had programmed. Apart from that you got to be wary of any issues that changing your clock time will bring, and as you go further and further in time I would say more and more issues would show themselves making you wonder if its all worth it or not, Not talking about any app here, just the act of manually changing your time, and not saying it wont work in 100% of cases, but if it does1work for you, be aware of possible issues further down the track, especially if you use your machine for more than just music.
