  1. https://www.bestservice.com/en/4th_anniversary_bundle.html $90.41 for 4 plugins. FireCharger - Charge your sound to max: Do your tracks sound dull or tired? They need energy. They need to get charged. FireCharger can get your mix or instrument recording to the next level touching just a few knobs (or just one in most cases). FireCharger is a universal processor with an intelligent algorithm for spectral charging and instant sound improvement, including emulation of an analogue tape and advanced exciters MorphVerb - I'm Every Reverb: What type of reverb should be used on my track? Shall I use the Chamber or Hall? What about something in between? MorphVerb is a magical tool providing a unique way to find the perfect reverb settings! Orbitron - The Revolution in Modulation: Simple modulation can be boring and tedious. But imagine you could fluently crossfade between four various modulation effects so that each bar would sound different. Or blend the four effects together to create something unique. That is the approach only Orbitron can offer. Verbum Entropic Hall - The Beauty Is in Chaos: The recent digital world tends to line up everything. That makes things predictable and... well, boring. The beauty of life is in chaos and randomness of unexpected. And Verbum Entropic Hall reflects that which makes it one of the most realistic reverbs out there. Larry mentioned a sale on MorphVerb earlier but this is a good enough deal that I thought it merited separate attention.

  3. There is also an oil can model in echoes. If I remember correctly you have more options in the Oil Can plugin but it does not tempo sync like Echoes does.

  4. Nothing wrong with using multiple DAWs. It's not a zero-sum game. I plan to have ALL the toys, eventually. Studio One is a fine choice. So is Cakewalk. And stripping things down to try and diagnose the root cause is anything but "voodoo". It's the complete opposite.

  5. I haven't watched the videos yet (next up), but I'm laughing already. My first job out of college was two years ('78-'79) as Asst. Crew Chief on the Neutrino beam line at Fermilab (a particle accelerator physics research center). The Higgs boson was discovered in 2012 at CERN. Never thought it would become a musical joke. OK, off to YT to watch the two videos. From the CERN website: How did physicists know it was the Higgs? On 4 July 2012, the ATLAS and CMS collaborations announced the discovery of a new particle to a packed auditorium at CERN. This particle had no electrical charge, it was short-lived and it decayed in ways that the Higgs boson should, according to theory. To confirm if it really was the Higgs boson, physicists needed to check its “spin” – the Higgs boson is the only particle to have a spin of zero. By examining two and a half times more data, they concluded in March 2013 that, indeed, some kind of Higgs boson had been discovered. Discovering the Higgs boson was just the beginning. In the ten years since, physicists have examined how strongly it interacts with other particles, to see if this matches theoretical predictions. Interaction strength can be measured experimentally by looking at Higgs boson production and decay: the heavier a particle the more likely the Higgs boson is to decay into or be produced from it. Interaction with tau leptons was discovered in 2016 and interaction with top and bottom quarks in 2018. But there is much more still to learn about this elusive particle.

  7. The mention of price and a competitor's product in every post is starting to sound like an ad, honestly. There's a lot of things wrong with those replies in general, but we're fairly cool about leaving comparisons and chat about other DAWs on here, if for no other reason it can add perspective to the features that Cakewalk has and dispell a lot of misconceptions too when the devs come into a thread and explain things, like they have here (although this advice is being entirely ignored). But if this devolves into something that looks like there's an agenda, this thread will be removed or locked.

  12. I like the PA ones, though I only have the SSL E and G, not the N of the J. Was interested in them but Lindell has a fine Neve channel and the native SSL is a great 9000 (J). So I guess I’ll stick with the E and G.

  14. EDIT: This from NF "The v2 is not compatible with v1 sessions or presets. It is a completely new plug-in and thus won't replace the v1, so you can still use it to reload your previous work." So as intended, but still annoys me!

  15. FWIW with the beta of the Pulse Teq EQs, while it installs fine and seems to work: - It isn't one where the VST3 replaces the VST2 version (comparing with the existing VST2 that is anyway) - that's irritating - But, it might be because they've added a new module (nice) but also changed controls on one existing module (there's no longer a clipper toggle switch on the output, and they've added a mix control and an analogue knob to it); these might be improvements, but I'd prefer it it these didn't stop migrating from the existing version.

  21. There is a bit of a Story to this Video – I have mentioned before my wife and I have set up an Academy in Cape Town to provide work and Training to unemployed Youngsters – we have a massive unemployment issue here in South Africa with a rate of 70% Youth Unemployment. https://scholarship.sfafrica.co.za/ Anyway one of our Scholars chose Digital Marketing / Videos etc. He started with us in March – and in that time, I have mentored him a little bit, but he has learnt various programs and now he is teaching himself how to use the latest AI programs – and this video is not only his first “solo” attempt at a Music Video but also his first attempt using AI. I’m blown away with how well he has progressed, in just a few short months. So here is the Tenth track off our Indelible Stain album - The track is called Nothing was True Hope you enjoy it. You can see the lyrics here https://devinelie.com/indelible-stain/nothing-was-true/ And the whole album is available on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/album/43IS1UScScZbhzNrfVaB8a We’ve updated our website as well – we’ve got our own store now where you can get music and merchandise!! https://devinelie.com/

  27. So you just got married a month ago and now on your honey moon with your new partner. - and think this happiness will last forever since you know your partner so well I was married to your current spouse a couple of years ago and really wish you two well. You used Cakewalk for 20 years successfully and now suddenly with the last project you run into some problems. - and your 25 years of programming make you conclude this is nothing to do with your last project - must be a programming error outside of your control I suggested early in this thread you try change threadscheduling model to "1" since you will use legacy WaitForSingleObject to sync threads, which would be known to you as programmer. - but you missed that completely as far as I can tell - because you already knew what the problem was, and it was not on you I had 6-7 feature requests on StudioOne Pro up to 4.7 and it became clear to me - all this already exist in Sonar - so went back to good old Sonar StudioOne has no sysex support, no surround mixing support, no real track templates with busses and stuff, and looks is simplistic compared to Sonar and not much you can do about it either since no theme editor - and I really hope you are not into realtime recording midi and CC, then you are in for a treat - the honey moon will end abruptly...

  32. the dither adds a noise component (not detail) to the LSBs (avoiding a "quantinization error" when truncating digital values) when you convert from (say) 24-bit to 16-bit (i.e. dropping the bottom 8 bits). if you're doing final mix in prep for mastering - leave dithering off and send in same resolution you are mixing in. if you're trying to produce an MP3 (etc) directly off the mix, then pick one of the POW dithering options. note: the results will not be as good as say the Ozone or WaveLab etc dither options. S1 vs CW vs etc may likely have different dithering options and aliasing filters. it is interesting that no matter what we do - noise is always going to be part of audio 🙂 some reference: What Is Dithering in Audio? 34. Maybe we're still settling into the technology, even though it's been settled into its current form (by which I mean DAW-with-plug-ins) for over 20 years? Venus Theory on YouTube is one of my favorite people who philosophizes about the psychological aspects of this matter of everyone having access to a high level of music production technology. When possibilities are endless, when we "know" that there are no logistical penalties for working on a song "forever," when we can fully realize complex musical ideas without having to put together a band, get financial backing, spend money to hire a fully-staffed recording studio, the pressure that once existed to finish things is relieved. It's too easy to fall into a trap of endlessly polishing something as our skills continually level up, our collection of plug-ins levels up. But as you describe, there is a penalty. I can open projects from 10 years ago, but back then I was using iZotope's Elements series, Kontakt Player 5, a whole bunch of plug-ins that if I wanted to fully revisit them, I'd need to reinstall a bunch of stuff I'd rather not have cluttering up my drives. When I got back into working with a DAW, the host I was using was just transitioning to 64-bit and VST3 support. I was having issues with the 64-bit version, and their VST3 support wasn't fully dialed in, so my projects from back then have some dependencies I'd rather not depend on. My expectations need management; I need to work knowing that I will want to revisit projects in the future, and that my DAW system will have changed. I suspect that it may not change as much in the next 5 years as it did in the previous 5, due to my collection of mixing (and instrument) plug-ins having leveled up. I stick to well-supported stuff like Brainworx, Meldaproduction, and iZotope, but there are never any guarantees. My MIDI tracks sometimes make use of things that only Cakewalk supports, like the built-in arpeggiator and MIDI FX, which are DXi. Not many hosts still support DXi (Cakewalk and REAPER do). Cakewalk will likely support DXi plug-ins for a good long time to come (they still ship them), but what is "a good long time?" As you point out in the case of the same instrument plug-in from the same manufacturer, Dimension, things can change under the hood. Maybe it's time to either get into the Venus Theory practice of finishing things whether I think they're perfect or not, and also work with the idea of future-proofing in mind. Knowing that I'll likely want to revisit things in the future. Bounce everything to individual tracks, both with and without FX, etc. I already save every plug-in installer, but there are probably a few that I no longer have due to system rebuilds, disk cleanups, etc.

  35. It wasn't included in the version I bought long ago. Back then, ISP didn't include all of their plugin either. IIARC Magnetic was added later. Or it may have been Magnetic II. Again, IIARC, I bought Cosmos separately before it was later included in the ISP. I gotnit.for a good discount because I owned ISP. This was the first time I had ever spent that much money for plugins. It was $99 I think. Used mostly the BlueTube stuff, Magnetic, Comos. They have a plugin called Oil Can!! Sounds really good.

  37. Each EQ has a certain "sound" that will affect the signal, and the curves are all different. EQ's like Fabfilter's Pro EQ can cover a lot of territory as most of the parameters are adjustable, making it an "all in one" solution. Many others do likewise. If it's a Tube EQ that will also have an effect on the sound. There are a great many factors involved, hence the plethora of EQ Options.

  40. - Save As a copy of the project with "Flattened Tempos" appended to the name. because you're going to be deleting your painstakingly matched tempo changes. - Select all audio clips. - Open Audiosnap section of Clip Properties in the Inspector and check the 'Enable' box. - In 'Follow Options', choose 'Autostretch'' (this mode stretches audio uniformly between tempo changes without regard to beats). - Check the 'Follow Proj Tempo' box above Follow Options to enable audio stretching to follow changes to project tempo(s). - Switch to the Tempo List in the Inspector and delete all the variable tempos, leaving just the initial one to be the fixed tempo (you can then adjust that one tempo as needed). - Experiment with different stretching algorithms on different tracks (see Audiosnap documentation). - When you're satisfied with the result, you'll probably want to render the stretching permanent by Bounce to Clips(s)) to get the best possible audio quality. - As before I recommend doing detructive things like Bounce to Clip(s) in a new copy of the project so you can revert to the non-destructively stretched version if you determine something needs to be fixed later.

  42. Articulation maps for the BBC SO sample libraries The BBC SO now comes in three versions: the basic 'Discover' offering which is free, the mid-range 'Core' option, and the top range 'Pro' version. The free version is rather limited, including only ensembles of the major orchestral instruments - no solosits and no pianos etc. Neither does it offer many articulations. It does have a few basics, like pizzicato strings, but there's no legato for example. Nonetheless, an articulation map for it is available (https://bit.ly/XELKEY1). It's not compatible with the 'Core' version but there are articulation maps available for that version, including of course the one offered at the top of this thread by Neel Modi.
