  6. Some notes... Samplitude Pro latest version is X7 Vegas Pro latest version is 20 MusicMaker latest version is 2023 Sound Forge Audio Studio latest version is 16 The Producer Planet keys are for the non-commercial version of the soundpool I'm not saying it's a bad deal, but just be aware of what you are getting, 2 versions behind in most cases, and get ready to be reminded frequently that there is a newer version available. Note that there are add-ons that may make the deal more interesting, e.g., with Samplitude X5 you get Convology XT Complete and the CoreFx suite.

  12. Without an account, it ain't gonna happen. Trying to use 20 year old software is a recipe for frustration. So is using 10 year old software. All the bugs have been worked out of X3 and then some. Its called Cakewalk by Bandlab.

  16. You won't get Convology as it comes with the Suite version. I doubt you will get CoreFX either as it's a separate serial number. Also, you won't get bundled extras with Sound Forge as you will if you buy direct. They strip it down to the basics.

  17. I always check my final master against presets (and reference tracks) MAnalyzer. It at least gives me a visual reassurance that I'm in the ballpark as far as tonal balance. Part of the legendary MFreeFX bundle. The bundle also has other useful analysis tools like MStereoscope, which I use to take a look at the stereo energy balance on my buses.

  19. An eventual murderer appropriated his girlfriend's piano part and was credited for it on an Eric Clapton song and dissing her. As Hunter S. Thompson (may or may not have) said: “The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.”

  20. IF you stack it with Kult, it's like 140 something due to a bundle discount adding to the savings. That's not a bad price. I'd jump on it if I had the funds right now. That said, I'm really looking to score Novum mainly and at a price point below $60.

  22. Even without the "AI" part, this has been ongoing for years. The example I use most often is Google Translate, where they let people improve the software for free, but Google owns the software... people who made their living from translation get impacted. Safeguarding intellectual property is something I caution people on often, since the ones who like to brag about what they know end up giving IP to people who will either outright steal it or weaponize it back at them.

  24. I got that with the X5 Suite but got very little use out of it (other than the 5GB download that it was). There are free IRs and IR loaders out and about, and I primarily Melda or HELIX these days. Depending on how detailed you want to get with IR tweaking, the free IR loaders typically only load one IR file, but even they are useful for authenticity when recording directly into the computer. A couple good sets are God's Cab (MESA, there are a few others on that page), and Acoustic IRs (especially if recording off a piezo pickup). DAW recording is quirky in that the goal it to record as little environment as possible, but then insert one back during the post-production.

  26. A week or so ago I saw a news story about a group of graphic artists (people that used their own mental and eye-hand coordination skills to create visual art for a living). At issue is how the corporate proponents of AI "train" the technology. I don't know the details, but it seems that real people ("artists") who depend on carefully cultivated traditional skills of artistry might be having their works used for zero compensation. If that's the case, it would seem to be institutionalized stealing of intellectual property being done by people in the AI industry. Back in the 1980s I purchased a several framed numbered prints from an artist at a street fair who had mastered a personal style of batik and sold the prints for a living. I liked them, appreciated the artist's work, and wanted to support the artist. Not sure if the artist is still around, but I can imagine some huge corporate database entity including images of the batik artist's works in an AI training process in such a way that AI can "create" other pieces of art in that style. JMO: As AI is embedded in the tools of production for unsuspecting individual artists of all sorts, I am concerned that human creativity is becoming less and less valued for the sake of those who have foisted Artificial Intelligence on the world. Is this the new arms race using new instruments of technology to disarm artists and others to concentrate power of all sorts in the hands of the techology makers as opposed to artists, artisans, and others who cultivate individual talents? Just a thought to consider when advocating more and more AI be incorporated into the tools of music production.

  29. Nostradamus predicted that Waves would trouble the people of the Earth in 2023. He said something about a commotion in the clouds, which I believe relates to all the sellers on Knobcloud trying to dump their soon to be worthless licences. So this must be what he referred to, unless I am mixing it up with The Mayan calendar or a cataclysmic flood. I must stop watching conspiracy theory vids on YouTube.

  31. The other things that strikes me is the timing of these back-to-back offers. The 5.2 offer was just 5.1 +Guitar Rig 6 (they are separated because GR 6 is an NI Access registration), and this one is 5.2 + RX10 Advanced. Their loyalty page has bothered me for years now, but with Firefox I couldn't see the prices without adding them to cart (they have always had Firefox issues though too).

  32. Hi all Bit of a niche deal, this one. But in case it comes in handy for anyone else... Syn'X is currently available for 99 Euro directly from XILS. https://www.xils-lab.com/products/syn-x-p-134.html If you bought Mini Syn'X you would have been eligible for a discount when upgrading to Syn'X that worked as a coupon code that reduced the full price of Syn'X. Previously I'm pretty sure the discount was 39 Euro. I paid 59 Euro for Mini Syn'X so it never seemed like a good deal to upgrade to me. But Syn'X has never come down very cheaply. Perhaps because they have this upgrade angle to deal with. Anyway at present the upgrade coupon is worth 59 euro, which brings the price down to 40 Euro. So at that point, I jumped. FYI Mini Syn'X is serial protected. Syn'X requires iLok.

  38. Kudos to you for including retailers you don't have an affiliate relationship with, @Audio Plugin Guy! I've posted about your Facebook group before (https://www.facebook.com/groups/plugindeals/), as I find it super useful and have even recommended it to fellow musician friends and developer friends. FTR, I'm totally cool clicking on one of your affiliate links, like our own @cclarry, I think you perform a very useful service. I just try to be helpful and explain to people that what happens when someone builds one of these search engines is that they most often either completely or mostly include shops that provide them with an affiliate kickback (or greatly prioritize listings for the shops that provide affiliate kickbacks and over those shops that don't). Now, that's understandable, such sites aren't an altruistic endeavor, the folks building them are looking to make money. And, I'm certainly not opposed to that, I'm a business owner myself. I just want to make sure my fellow forum members are aware that these tools aren't showing them a full picture of the best deals and that choice is often guided by how much profit the comparison site owner can make from the reseller (or developer) from affiliate kickbacks. So, in an ideal scenario, a comparison site would include every seller of the included products, regardless of affiliate relationships. But it's unlikely that anyone would be compelled to build that. Kudos to you for not just including the sites you have affiliate relationships with. In the end, I think that makes your site a more valuable tool than the others. It actually makes me more likely to choose your site over alternatives that primarily include sites they have affiliate marketing relationships with. I also appreciate your candor and how informative you are. I think you do an excellent job with running the Facebook group, keeping it focused and civil, and I really like the price check tool site -- which admittedly, I haven't spent much time with --but it seems very promising! Keep up the good work.

  40. Except the small developers. No complaints as a plugin consumer, but I feel for guys trying to make a go of it developing their own stuff. This was my initial reaction as well. But they have given us plenty of warning and time to tidy up out licenses. With a huge user base and a lot of software licenses out there, this is no small undertaking. I just hope they are making a change to something better thought out than WUP...
