  1. The user Tone Models are getting rave reviews from other users, it is worth checking out ToneNET as there's some really good stuff up there already.

  2. Tip 1 - When you get a craving, try eating something healthy, like an apple. Tobacco leaves are very bitter (side-note: tobacco was originally used as a pesticide until something safer came along: DDT!). Because of this, the leaves are often secretly rolled in sugar-water which causes a sugar-spike, insulin release cycle. This is one of the main reasons people feel the need to go have a smoke on a regular schedule. Tip 2 - Drink lots of water. The reason the skin of life-long smokers looks like a dried leaf is dehydration. Tip 3 - "Aids" to help you quit are idiotic at best (like nicotine chewing gum). In other words, if nicotine was truly addictive biologically, why wouldn't you just get hooked on the gum??? Yet, you don't. Smoking is a social habit (sorry tobacco companies it is absolutely, most definitely NOT a biological addiction!). Therefore, you need to replace the gap smoking filled with something healthy instead. Hypnosis (done correctly) can help. See if you can find someone certified with Smoke-Free International (I was in the process of getting my certification with them before starting a smoking cessation practice when the brown-stuff hit the fan back in 2009). Smoke-Free guarantees around an 87% success rate with only ONE session (you'll get a booster session if necessary). Standard hypnotherapy has a much lower success rate and will often set someone up for several sessions up-front. One thing to watch out for: Once you stop putting that poison into your body, it will try to clean itself up. One way it does this is to cough up a lot of gunk from your lungs. This is another reason you'll want to drink lots of water. Other things that will help you manage and get rid of the phlegm are steam, lemon, eucalyptus oil, menthol rubs, and gargling with salt water. While getting rid of the gunk is a good thing, your body might try to do this too quickly and that can make it hard to breathe. This is why thinning it helps ( This doctor has some very good advice to help you breathe! ). A final tip: Remember WHY you're quitting! Focusing on this can help you get past the temptations. This is why many women are able to quit cold-turkey once they learn they are pregnant (and more proof of why nicotine literally can't be biologically addictive!). Good luck! 🙂👍 Oh, and feel free to stare at this should you need any extra motivation!

  3. Well I'm gonna stick to my theory people just aint buying certain stuff anymore no matter what those stats say. Collecting the "oh but it's awesome eq" to go with the other 47 I have is now a luxury. Maybe just maybe I realize I have too much stuff and would take 7 lifetimes to learn how to use any of it. Then...........I thought about getting Tantra..........BUT I can't get it for $10............THEN I realize I can do the same thing in Live and probably those Cable Guys plugins I haven't used.

  8. I just manually delete those locations occasionally. Not a lot of space wasted, though it's only a minor annoyance for me when my OCD kicks in... 🤪 I agree that the vendor should always make all paths an option. At least XLN Audio finally added that to their online installer!

  9. The quality is starting to get there, but for those that are not just recording parts in a DAW dedicated foot switches and knobs are something a lot of people won't give up. We are a long way off from that as physical gear is still booming - this guy is "getting out" because there are way too many people able to do it for cheaper. The issue isn't so much about a discussion of quality any longer as much it is about people want the interface while they are playing in real time. As much as I like virtual gear it is far more annoying to try to setup a rig that you can interact with like analog gear when playing an instrument standing up not in front of a computer screen.

  12. Good on you, @pwalpwal for quitting. @craigb offered a lot of really good advice. No need for me to duplicate it. I just want to add a couple of comments. 1) It took me about 3 weeks to get over the craving after a cold turkey quit. No real way around it, the next three weeks will be hard work, even following Craig's advice. But there's light at the end of the tunnel. Once you get past that, you'll be happier and proud of yourself. 2) So much is focused on smokers' lungs, but it's way worse than that. My brother taught anatomy for awhile, and took me through his cadaver dissection lab once. He said he could identify whether the corpse had been a smoker or not, by making an incision anywhere on the body, and proved it to me. The difference in tissue color between smokers and non-smokers is noticeable. Smokers' tissue was much grayer. So, there's more going on with nicotine than people think. This is why vaping tobacco is dangerous (cannabis is OK). Vapers think they're protecting their lungs from the gunk, but they're still screwing up their entire biological self. As Craig mentioned, tobacco is truly a poison and, in my not-so-humble opinion, should be banned. Sadly, that will never happen. 3) Apples and carrots are good snacks. Extra pizzas, not so much. 🤪 You'll get through it!

  13. Yeah they get pretty lazy at times just rolling out repeats of freebies too. They just don't seem to make an effort these days.. must be selling way too many plugins. I actually quite like the plugin though. It's just that I'm sure a lot of people already had it.

  15. The answer is yes, but it's REALLY complicated to set up. It involves using MIDI loopback devices, and either aggregate ASIO drivers or audio loopback devices. First of all though, have you tried running the ProteusVX via JBridge instead of BitBridge?

  21. Go Cakewalk. Can't miss. BUT you really need to put an effort to know the program, as much as we as musicians need to put an effort to learn to sing or play guitar. A lot of the complains about software is just lack of training and knowledge!

  22. A few I tested were pretty good. Might want to make some suggestions to the product team as this is going to get more unwieldy as time goes on and the scrolling in the application isn't smooth as it searches for the next tones to pull up based on date. I'd think some additional filtering and sorting options would be helpful as this thing starts to take off. Also for those on the "free" version, the preview of all the tone models to entice you to go for a paid option would really benefit from less white noise (both frequency and volume/signal to noise ratio). I can't even sustain a note/chord long enough to evaluate the full decay without white noise kicking in, it is crazy. It feels like a lets annoy the potential customer to the point where they have to buy it just to try it out.

  23. Yes indeed, that is what I came to say, I dropped in to check them out and everyone I checked out I ended up downloading, I had to just leave before my day slipped away down the rabbit hole. It is so far the exact opposite of my experience with PD's ToneCloud. But be warned, time will fly by, and you may find yourself being there for longer than you expected if you don't monitor yourself.

  24. I just delete the data in question & re-record in sound on sound mode. Delete is easy if no "snap to" is on. You can highlight and easily delete just the notes you need to delete in track mode. Personally I think comp mode is a pain in the butt.

  29. This acquisition, and similar recent acquisitions in the industry, reflect that investors see growth in the market. Steven did a great job building a very high quality plugin brand and I suspect that this will result in his legacy continuing, with more resources being allocated to the growth of his former product lines. Consequently, I think this is good news for all of us who use DAWs.

  36. @Paul H, i'm not doubting you about this, sorry if it sounded like that. I tried to point out, that even if its not that efficient as Reaper, its running generaly pretty good and stable. I'm running a 50-Track mixing project for example with over 100 FX instances wihout issues on my 14 year old i5 750 cpu (OC'd at 3.9 GHz on all 4 cores) and 16GB Ram. Many CPU draining FX with OS activated where it is necessary and still some room to breathe. Compared to Sonar X1 its running much much smoother now. So the thread poster can surely use it as his main DAW, nothing speaks against it 😄.

  38. This isn't likely to happen because there would be no point in recording controllers that don't overlap a clip with notes in it and CbB will not split the events of a single take across lanes. That said, I've encountered issues in the past with take lanes getting out of order or clips being layered in the same lane when using the Re-Use option so I just have it set to Create New and do the housekeeping as necessary - not that much i my workflow. I don't really have any insight into why arming a track also effectively solos that lane. I just know that it does it for both MIDI and Audio tracks and that it's not the kind of thing that would happen incidentally without being deliberately programmed so I've always presumed it was deliberate.

  40. It's hard to give a definitive answer without knowing much more detail about your system, but the fact that you say it improved when you moved to an SSD leaves me to suspect this is simply due to some of the instrument samples having not been loaded yet. A lot of sample based VSTi's load samples on demand - i.e. they'll only load the C3 at velocity 64 sample when you actually play it. Some also have a limit as to how much memory they'll use for samples before they swap out older samples (i.e. ones that haven't been played for a while) for newer ones. This behaviour is usually configurable within the VSTi plugin itself. Although some VSTi's allow you to load ALL of the samples up front, this isn't usually desirable as: 1. It'll use up an enormous amount of memory 2. It'll take ages to load them all 3. You probably won't be using every note, at every velocity over 6-8 octaves. Well written VSTi's should remember which notes were played, and therefore which samples you actually need within a session. It should then load these samples upon opening your project. You usually have to play your project all the way through first before saving your project for it to have an accurate idea of this though.

  42. Someone I used to know once got upset with me after it had become apparent that his girlfriend had "entertained" more than one of his friends at various times when he wasn't around and I said that he would never have to worry about that happening with me. He wanted to know why not ? What's wrong with her ? Was I trying to say that she wasn't good enough for me ? There really is no pleasing some people.😀
