  5. Fair point, but I guess the marketing folks figured that getting people to ask for coffee with a splash of nut juice might lead to some awkward situations

  6. In 2003 my band, Off the Edge recorded our fifth album entitled Site Under Construction. The album was released on cd in 2004. The album was recorded in my tiny home studio at the time which didn’t allow us to use live drums All the drum sequences were programmed. Originally the album was recorded in Adobe Audition but I transferred the files into Cakewalk by Bandlab and remixed everything. Next year will be the 20th anniversary of the recording of this album and I decided to revisit the original multi tracks and replace the drum sequences with live performances. My good friend Larry Rose will be re recording all the drums for the album which will then be remixed and remastered. The difference has been remarkable. As much as programmed drums have their uses, one just cannot beat the real thing. The first song entitled “Taking it to Extremes” has been completed.

  15. I think at the moment there is a wish to insert "take lane FX", it is time to create a separate track from that take I think the idea behind takes is to make a choice between different versions of the content. It can happened some particular clip needs processing to "match" the rest. But if all clips on the lane need the same processing and it is different from all other lanes, this lane is not just "random" collection of versions. I have written "random" because some parts can be recorded 2 times, some 5 times and other just 1 time. So "Lane 3" as a whole has almost no meaning when take lanes are used as "take lanes". Lanes have some controls which exist for track, f.e. solo, but that does not mean the goal was establish full track functionality for takes. The "main stream" mixing structure in Cakewalk is still "Track->Bus->Bus->....->Bus->Output". Even so folders, take lanes and Aux tracks till some degree allow different internal and/or visual hierarchy.

  17. Wow. First impression is that the 8 patches from Modular City are my least favorite in all of Swatchlandia, as a group. Usually there's at least one cool and/or useful sound. I wonder what happened here. One of them sounds like the typical "default" sound on a subtractive synth emulation. Is the idea to show how pure a sine wave their algorithm can generate? "How more sine can it get? None. None more sine."

  22. The info on the Melda site isn't great in this regard -- most of the packages listed are MDrummer content, and I've never found an official list of the pre-made instruments that ship with MSoundFactory. But I'm a stubborn cuss with mild OCD, so I made one myself -- in case it helps, see the attached snippet of spreadsheet. The last column is my own way of cataloging plugins / components / patch sets, and I won't swear it's entirely accurate, but that should give a fair idea of the scope and content of the included instruments.

  23. Ditto that, thanks for the heads up!

  24. Eesh, yes. However, MSoundFactory Player comes with a very comprehensive (no surprise there) arpeggiator that could probably be used for that purpose. For those who haven't stumbled across the arpeggiator, it's down at the very bottom of the toolbar (the strip on the right with all of the standard controls). In typical Melda fashion, it's extensive enough that you should be able to get a certification for figuring it out. Lord how those products could benefit from better documentation....

  29. Is this a midi track you created or download midi? The track inspector/ header midi bank and patch setting dialogue boxes over rules any patches set in an instrument GUI. Is that where you set up the patches or was it the GUI? Download midi files often have the PG events in the tracks so as said above look in the event list for those. I’ve run into tracks that I can’t see the PG info for some reason and the solution was to split and delete the very start of the track just before the first note. That was rare

  35. Hi Philip - VPN to Milan worked!! Liked the track, it must have been pretty hard to mix, but by and large sounds OK - I might just lift the vocals a little bit. Streaming - sorry before I mention that let me take my Valium - now what is it they pay me per stream...all I know is that it has got a great deal of noughts in it - unfortunately before the number not after!!!!!! We mainly use Youtube Videos and Spotify Streaming - honestly, I can't remember anything re Apple or Deezer for a very long time - I will have to check. As we have now got a half decent subscriber base, we can actually get something from YouTube - but It's so little I couldn't even tell you what that is!! Keep well Nigel

  37. I use it alot. It's my main tool for composing. As the name implies it's better suited for guitar music (= "band music") than orchestral music, though. I've used it for years so I'm comfortable writing music with it, but it admittedly has its idiosyncrasies. I guess that depends on what kind of things you want to learn. It would probably be most useful for practicing playing in sync. You can change the tempo and loop the parts you want, which is nice for grinding difficult parts. You can also change the tuning of the instruments, so any obscure tunings are not a problem when you want to play along. But if you just want to learn how to play a song I'm not sure if it's that much better than a traditional tab book.

  38. Yes "Player" owners could buy instruments if they are made available to purchase such as the Dream Machines, but no way to access the "core" instruments outside of the two freebies without paying for at least the LE version, so with player you are stuck with piecemeal. If they do offer Meldway as a purchase, I'd had to imagine anyone that wanted both meldway and dream machines would be better of just jumping in and getting LE on sale "now" I have not used any 3rd party Sampletank libraries, but my understanding it is technically supported and a few actually exist somewhere in the wild ex. https://esoundz.com/landingpages/sampletank.php

  39. I guess I'm undashed.? I am on a diet now and have been drinking almond and oat milk. It tastes more like fat free milk to me. Makes a great low calorie substitute for milk. They call it milk to attract milk drinkers I suppose. A marketing ploy that seems to work pretty well. Since I started drinking it, I don't really miss milk. I have lost over 20 pounds so far. 30 calories a glass if a person drinks the unsweetened version. That's probably my only motive for drinking it. They say milk is unhealthy, almond (milk) is not healthy according to some. Others say it's better for you. Around and around we go. This is similar to comments from others on the subject. It must take a LOT of almonds to make a gallon of the stuff.

  44. ROTFLMAO! Check my forum history, both here and on the old forum, and ask anyone who's been around here for a while about my ability to tease meaning from inadequate problem descriptions and solve problems. Also note that Mark acknowledged and fixed this issue only after I clarified how to reproduce it. In any case, you needn't worry yourself about my compreshension as I won't be reading or responding to any more of your posts. Cheers, Dave

  46. Indeed and if used properly, creatively they can be great song idea starters .. also chopping, slicing dicing them. Cakewalk MATRIX might be a good thing for noodling with these Speaking of loops - I have had an annual sub for LOOPCLOUD. Its great, but not making the use of it enough. Just cancelled the annual sub due up next month €110. Ill admit as well as less use a big reason is the cost of living rises .. have cut a few things already. Energy prices in Europe are just off the wall so something has to go to unfortunately. Lots of this here this winter inc streaming services cuts, less plugin purchases etc
