  2. I thought this might interest the old people here, ie. everyone. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/doom-64 Apparently this is a standalone game and a direct sequel to Doom II, not a console port of either of the original games. It has new levels, new enemies, new everything. It's made by a different team than other Doom games, but people on Reddit seem to think it's honestly a good game.

  12. Of course they could use software detection, but yes, the odds of getting on the radar of whoever they lifted the samples from may be small unless it's super distinctive and your song gets very popular. So, in most cases, it boils down to ethics. Do we steal if we can get away with it or do we operate ethically even though the odds are that we'd never get caught for engaging in intellectual property theft.

  14. I loooove the sound of the Wurlitzer electric piano AKA the Wurli. My mother was a musician and music teacher who worked for Wurlitzer and we had one in our music room growing up and I absolutely loved it -- and still love the sound of it today. Consequently, I own several Wurlitzer sample libraries and had to download this freebie when I came across it on Pianobook. Its creator calls it the WörliTzer. What I found is that the musician who sampled it did a really good job and there are several very nice presets. Even better, for folks who don't own KONTAKT and those on a tight budget, the library is formatted for the free Decent Sampler. So everyone can enjoy this. https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/wrlitzer/

  21. That sounds awesome, if everything heard and seen so far comes to fruition IK is going to be on a winner. I really hope there will be no last minute hang ups or anything, and that we do indeed get it in our grubby little hands in September (hopefully the very minute, no the very second it ticks over to the new month 😇) All the best with it, I really hope IK brings this mutha on home, I hope the release goes well for all, I can't wait to get it installed on my PC, and be able to check all the goodness that MAX will bring. 🤞 🙏

BTW these older Cake projects are opening & working fine in the latest versions of CbB. I thought there might be issues but all's well so far ! -Hope you enjoy it.

  32. @Justin Schaffer You have to use the insert link gadget above look like a chain link. I edited your post to insert the link that way for you. Mix is not to bad, regarding EQ just remember to use no more than needed and cut rather than boost. As for 808's compression is your friend, parallel or New York compression even more so. even more so.

  34. IMHO the problem is that the nice presets sound impressive on their own, but if you try to integrate them 1:1 into a song, then there are too many adjustments needed that you don't get a muddy, cluttered mix! That's why I prefer to have a clean, unprocessed drum sound from the VSTi. Then I am able to mix almost all kit pieces to my liking (with EQ, FX) and they really integrate into the song! Me too, I like the Fairfax Vol. 2 and the Vintage Dry!

  35. The assignment for the current area is always shown on the right, whereas the current assignment for the Global area is always shown underneath and on the left. What you're seeing for CTRL + R, is your "Track View" assignment on the right ( i.e. Rename Clip ), and the Global Area assignment underneath and on the left. For CTRL + J, you're seeing the description for your "Track View" assignment to Bounce to Clip(s) on the right, and it shows that it's unassigned in the Global area on the left.

  40. I don't recall seeing it any lower than this. That's a pretty great price. I have it, and it's a pretty good library for what it is - by that, I mean it's a great sketching library, and also a nice accessory library to Sonokinetic's phrase-based ones. It's recorded in the same hall with the same players, I believe, so it blends with the loops pretty seamlessly. I use it for both of the above purposes, and I also like the sound of the high strings when the mod wheel is dialed in low - they have a certain quiet sheen that I like, and I use them in my template as a kind of sordino articulation. Da Capo's got some weird limitations, though. The instrument note range is a bit tighter than I'd like for the strings (they don't go as high as you'd expect), and the brass has no trumpets, which I always thought was pretty strange; it's just tubas/trombones and french horns. There are legatos for the strings, brass and woodwinds, but the transitions are really subtle and understated. The woodwinds are breathy in the middle range, and I'd hesitate to leave them exposed in the mix or arrangement. The percussion samples sound nice, but the instrument selection is limited -- just the very basics, from bass drum and timps to snares, toms and cymbals. It's enough to work with for very basic drafts and test arrangements. So for sketching, or adding some orchestral vibe behind a prog rock tracks, or similiar, I think Da Capo is a pretty good product. If you're planning on doing any hardcore orchestral work, you'll want more.

  46. Yes ! The Eiosis Air Premium was my Favourite EQ, and now it is 2nd, right behind the Kirchhoff EQ. The Eiosis can be used everywhere. It gives amazing separation and "Tuning". It is also a must have "game changer", that works very well with the Kirchhhoff EQ. Th Eiosis, Presets : "Mastering Balance", and "Mastering Frequencies" are spot on perfect for getting started with many things. This is a "Character EQ" , where you can balance "Earth", "AIr", "Fire", and "Water" . . . The Strength fader is good for the gain scale. Click on the musical note, and you can see what note your curves are centered on. So, I now have Three Favourites that I use all of the time: 1) Kirchhoff EQ 2) Eiosis Air Premium EQ 3 ) AVA Mastering EQ (Great for subtle touch ups ). I find myself using all three of these on my Tracks, Mix bus, and Master Bus. (-;

  47. Hey @Peter - IK Multimedia - if I plug in a guitar and record a gear snapshot*, will the tone sound different if I plug in a completely different guitar that naturally has a different sound (e.g. if they have different pickups)? Or is there some sort of modelling that tries to make the input signals the same too? *sorry if I've not used the right terminology

  48. This looks like a direct crack at STL's Tonehub, which I don't like because they nickel-and-dime you on a growing number of preset packs. I haven't been blown away by AT5 quality across the board but I love the ecosystem. I hope this raises the bar on what's in AT5 MAX today. Oh, and that it doesn't eat my CPU.
