  1. A lot of synths (both hardware and software based), don't respond to volume changes for notes that are already playing, and only apply the changed volume to notes played after the volume change message. In some cases, you can get around this by using CC #11 (expression) instead - which certainly worked on Roland devices, but this doesn't quite work the same as volume (the min/max is relative to the current volume, not the max volume), and isn't supported by every synth. I'd follow @Lord Tim's advice, and use fades on the audio track instead.

  3. Yep. I love the Valhalla plugins, and $50 always is a far more reasonable price model than "$139 marked down to $49 this weekend only!", BUT $50 is more than my impulse buy limit of $20-$30, and without that "gotta act now or lose this 'great' deal" pressure... well, I've only ever bought one of their plugins. Whereas 2getheraudio has gotten more money out of me, even though I rarely use their stuff these days, simply because of the "name your price" model. I'll apparently buy *anything* for $10!

  4. What are you going to do when your soft synth doesn’t work anymore? Alchemy was my main synth but is no longer viable. I’ve updated my computer and my rapture and pro as well as dimension won’t work without work. always convert your midi to audio and you won’t loose your song. Even if you switch DAWS.

  5. MIDI is just data, so fades don't affect MIDI at all. MIDI sends that data to an instrument that plays that data. Your options are freezing or bouncing down the instrument to turn it into audio and fading those created clips, or creating a volume or velocity automation envelope on your MIDI track and drawing in fades for the end. Or, if you want to work more destructively, going into your MIDI track and changing the velocity to taper off the notes, but I'd recommend against that - envelope automation is more flexible and undoable.

  6. SynthMaster owners who don't yet have the Everything Bundle might want to SHOULD check their e-mails. **It looks like the the code is a unique, per account code. **** EDIT: amount of discount and final price also removed. Evidently those are also unique, per account amounts, too.] NOTE: The email also has info that would be of interest as well. My e-mail includes other details (including download** / purchase instructions) on: Alonso Sound Future Rave for SynthMaster 2 released NatLife Disco Funk for SynthMaster 2 released Bluffmunkey Cinematic Sounds for SynthMaster One released **Just an FYI: Your version of SynthMaster 2 /Synthmaster One might have slightly different wording. For the second step, I chose "Restore my preset banks." The first step worked exactly as stated.

  8. Not necessarily a deal, but I wanted to give @Jim Roseberry some kudos for my new DAW. We recently had two threads regarding new DAWs - @Larry Shelby thread on building his own new DAW: And @Starship Krupa excellent thread about repurposing parts for a new build: My last DAW was self built around 7 years ago, and it was time for a new one. I'm a career "IT Guy," and although I spend most of my time these days in meetings and on airplanes, I've tried to stay technical enough to do everything for myself. I've built countless computers over the last 25 years or so, so I generally know my way around computers. I built a new water cooled gaming computer last year, and I came to the realization that I really just don't enjoy it anymore. Quite honestly, it was a pain in the rear, and I pretty much hated the process. It had always been a matter of pride for me to build my own computers, but I decided my next one would be purchased. I started researching DAW builds around a year ago, but really couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I'm generally picky about things, and needed some flexibility that most manufacturers couldn't provide. Around 6 months ago, I contacted Jim and started talking to him about what I needed (and, sometimes more importantly, what I didn't.). Jim was extremely friendly, gracious with his time, and certainly understood my requirements. We emailed back and forth for several months (he probably wondered if I would ever hit that "purchase" button), and ordered a rack based DAW several weeks ago. I received it about two weeks ago, and started getting it all set up. Jim has continually been a great help to me, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. So, if any of you need a new DAW and don't want to build your own, check out https://www.studiocat.com/

  12. "Everything" owners will get a free upgrade to SynthMaster 3!!! Whenever it is finally released. The developer claims that he is finally putting his full attention toward this!!! Definitely recommend the "Everything" bundle. I don't love every expansion pack, but there are so many good ones that make the bundle worth it. You even get all new expansions for free as they are released. My favorites preset banks for SynthMaster 2 are the ones in Nori Ubukata's "Historic Synth Giants" and "Dawn of Electronic Music" series, and Big Tone's "Analog Basics" and "Tableworks" series. Plus there are plenty of others in the Pop, EDM, and electronic genres. For SynthMaster One, there are now 14 banks, which are a bit more recent than the SynthMaster 2 banks, and lean toward the modern electronic styles, with the exception of Bluffmunkey's "Darkwave Sounds" and "Cinematic Sounds".

  17. Disappointing, but not surprising. The Forever29 plan screws up their entire marketing plan of "Hey, look at these amazing sale prices" when those of us that know about the Forever29 plan say, "That's ridiculous, every plugin they sell is only worth $30.99 and here's why." That said, the discontinuation of the Forever29 "subscription" and their change to the $25 loyalty voucher requiring a minimum purchase of $75 means that I'll be purchasing far fewer plugins from Plugin Alliance going forward.

  19. I tried that when I had Composer Cloud and I thought it was really, really bad. I was shocked. i particularly found the legato to be unacceptable. But install it and decide for yourself. The Female Soul Ensemble, on the other hand, is wonderful. I have a lot of female vocal libraries and this is one of the very best. Offhand, I can't think of any other female vocal library that's better for pop music. You maybe can get better effects in BIAB, but that's a very different thing. There is only one legato, an uh sound. but it is very good. But this is for background vocals, not lead lines. I think 8dio's Studio Sopranos is better for that. There are a variety of sounds-- uhs, ohs, ahs, ehs, mms, etc. There are sustains, scoops, and short and long swells. The doo and hahs are great. But the standout for me is the Marcato patch, which cycles through the various sounds. You can get some really nice effects with that. A++

  20. If I understand the email correctly, besides the two synths, the Everything Bundle includes all existing expansions--51 (6250+ presets so far)--*and future ones* plus a free upgrade to SynthMaster 3.0 ($29)! Seems like a no-brainer.

  21. There's also an event filter
    1 point
  22. Open the Event List for the track in question. Using the Event Manager (right click menu) filter the list to just the type of events you're interested in getting rid of. Having a way to deselect all the event types at once would be nice, but it's not obvious there is one. Highlight them all by clicking to the left of the first event and dragging to the bottom. Do not use Ctrl-A (select all), as that will select all the events in the current track, not just the ones shown in the Event List. Ctrl-X to cut them. Or select Edit | Delete from the main menu. As you note, pressing the Delete key only deletes one of them, not the selection – which seems odd and wrong, but it is what it is.

  23. Yeah, I've never sold any of my gear. Given it away, or thrown it in the trash when it's hopelessly obsolete and irrelevant, sure. But that's measured in decades, not years.

  24. I think everyone who has been around for awhile knows that there are always some kind of deals going on... and like a bus... it always come another one... I think when you have used that last plugin you've bought for at least one fully finished song you should entitle yourself to another one... but collecting digital dust is fun and actually quite expensive. So if you spend around 75 usd on average per month throughout the year, thats over 900 usd. I think one should ask himself what did I do with this money? Where was it used, how much did I get out of it? If this was your hardware presumably laying around not being used for a year, you would consider selling it, right...

  25. Like I've stated b4... they should just make max price for one plugin @ 30 usd (or lower) and call it a day... stop playing cats and mouse game ... the truth is once you got your favourite 25+ plugins, you will almost never need anything else to make any kind of amazing production... different flavours, sure but hardly ever an essential tool that you are so badly missing... unless you of course watch those YT videos and buy because you are in the "big boys toys" mode... that candy buying impulse isn't really worth more than 30 usd a bag, err I mean a pop!😊👍

  33. Ouch! All that makes my head hurt! I'm quite the opposite. I tend towards stripping my signal chain way down; reducing the amount of options I have actually increases my creativity. Everyone is different and I bet you get some awesome sounds out of that sstuff I need to set up a work space inside. It is 100° + and I have a repair project that I am keeping a secret until it is done. Other than that, after playing around with a bunch of electronic stuff it is time to get back to my regularly scheduled program of guitar stuff.

  35. I realized I need to optimize my current guitar setup. I have a few issues that I'm working on: 1. I recently moved from a single amp back to a stereo setup and I've found that having two tube amps cranked for their best tone is just a bit too loud for me. I've purchased a pair of attenuators to put on the amps. I went with the Weber Mass because it seems to be the best one to deal with the 2 ohm load of the super and I went with the Dr. Z Air Brake as it seems best suited for the Z Wreck. 2. I realized that with the pedals on the floor I don't get nearly as creative as I used to when I had them racked - bending over three rows of pedals to twist knobs while holding a guitar and squatting is HARD. So I elevated the pedal board - but then I couldn't run the pedals that actually required foot control. So I moved the volume pedal, the expression pedal that runs the H9, and the tap tempo pedal that runs all the digital pedals (as well as the Lehle stereo splitter that feeds a Boss loop station, and the Radial Stage Bug I use to send signals to the speakers) to a child board below it. 3. I haven't quite gotten the bugs out of the board (such as the midi interactions of pedals) and I'm focusing on getting everything working perfectly and smoothly. Then I'll tidy the wiring and enjoy! The goal of these three items is to allow me to plugin, press record, and just play guitar without having to think about all the gear.

  38. That's one thing I didn't like either. If you select credit, you can enter the coupon code, but if you go with Paypal then you authorize the payment first and then go back to review order where you can enter the code to reduce the price. It all works correctly and you only pay $5 but I don't like it working that way around. At $9.99 it's still a great deal, so I wasn't too concerned as it's not a lot of money, but I would rather they change it.
