  1. Thenatan Trax free for a week. Voucher: " TheNatanGift " at https://www.thenatan.store/p/oxoq/ Valid for 7 days from the 16th July I guess (when the video was posted, Sanjay Cs YT channel) Nice, comprehensive drum VST. They say Trap a lot but if you do anything that calls for more punchy, synthesised/electronic sounds then a nice collection, 50 kits.

  3. EWQL used to do that. I think Spitfire still does? Today a terabyte takes 22 hours to download with a 100 Mbps connection anyway. I just find it difficult to justify allocating 73 GB for DX7, 85 GB for Jupiter 8, and 52 GB for Juno 60 samples...

  6. I have them both, and enjoy them. From the usage standpoint with modelling, Arturia definitely has the advantage. But the Syntronik synths can sometimes sound more realistic. Maybe because they sampled real vintage synths? And the new samples and synth engine in Syn 2.0 are even better! But I won't be collecting any more sampled synths, that is for sure! The house is full! šŸ˜‚

  11. yeh, I've always liked that version, too. I very much liked that version of Carlos Santana, too - back before he started phoning in his performances. But it was the Zombies' vocal harmonies that drew me in initially. Imagine how awesome Santana's cover could have been if they'd had more than one vocalist. Earlier I described the guitarist, bassist and drummer as "hired guns", but here's a video from 2013 that shows nearly the same lineup I saw last night, with only the bass player changed. So those guys have been zombies for quite a while. Rod still plays the same keyboards. Main difference is all of them are considerably greyer now. So am I.

  12. I don't have prior experience with similar tools, but I was pretty impressed with the separation on a couple of songs I threw at it that are decidedly not the rock/pop style that the "Vocal/Drums/Bass/Piano/Other" categories imply it's looking for. The results weren't perfect, but it was really good at teasing out bass and vocals in particular, and pretty good with drums. (So, the bits it seems it was expecting, unsurprisingly.) I can imagine a bunch of fun tricks to try with it. Playback within the tool and the GUI itself is a little fiddly for me, but for a freebie, it's a chicken dinner in my book.

  14. It took a little while to get use to it but at this point I actually prefer the Win 11 version. They fixed the search function so when you search for something it searches for apps first, web options 2nd. Something I always considered badly broken in W10. You can still search through the program menus by clicking on the "All apps >" button at the top right. In regards with the right click menu not fully expanding - you can get the Win10 functionality by: Open an elevated CMD window. Copy the following command below and paste it in and then press Enter. reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve Log out of your account and log back in, youā€™ll find that the old right-click context menu is back, which displays the full list of options directly.

  16. Yeah, it adds up for sure. I have a philosophical opinion to share, though. Something I remind myself of when I mentally total up what I've spent on plug-ins to go with the FREEWARE DAW I use (which comes with its own set of mixing plug-ins) šŸ˜„. I was the guy who started the Freeware FX and Instrument topics, and know that there's plenty of really great free stuff out there that I don't need to wait for a "deal" on. (Although I haven't found a freeware reverb that can touch the paid ones I have). I'm not trying to encourage anyone to buy shiny trinkets that they don't need, no way nohow. But we shouldn't trip too hard on spending money over time. The thing is, if the pastime brings you happiness....most interests and luxuries come with costs that freakin' add up. Golfer: buy clubs, shoes, gloves. Recurring costs: tees, balls, and green fees. Play at your local muni course twice a month, even at senior (60+) or off hours rates, that comes to $100 a month. Times 12, $1200 a year. Fancy courses or places where you're not a resident? $1500-2000? Woodworker: buy table saw, miter saw, chisels, planes, router, router table, etc. I can attest to this hobby also resulting in trinkets one is initially excited about but seldom if ever uses because who can keep track of all those gadgets and you finally get good enough where they're superfluous. Then you have to buy decent wood and fasteners if you want to make anything. I work mostly with birch plywood, which goes for roughly $75-100 a sheet, depending on thickness and quality. If you work in hardwood, fuggedaboudit. Recurring costs: sandpaper, finishing supplies (decent finishes are spendy), bits, blades. Like to maintain fitness? Access to a good gym, and at home have various dumbbells, exercise mats, etc. How many gym memberships and exercise goodies go un(der)used? Like to watch TV? How much did your set cost? How long did you have the last one before you decided it was too small or too low resolution? Even if you're frugal like me and have no cable package, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ add up to about $40 a month, and how much for the broadband internet service to deliver them? A cable package with 200 channels? You can only watch one thing at a time, so most people probably only regularly watch fewer than 10 of them. Go to the movies twice a month on bargain night, get a large popcorn and a drink, and you've spent $500 on that per year. Concert tickets? Don't get me started. Enjoy having a bite in a restaurant with friends? Just grabbing a burger? The other day I went out to Five Guys with a friend/former bandmate and got one sandwich, a small drink (they're refillable, so frugal boy orders the small cup), and large fries for the two of us. $18. Go to a nice restaurant and order two glasses of wine once a month to enhance your romantic relationship? Yikes! Go out to a bar with your mates and have 2 beers? Premium beers? Add it up. Sports fan? How much do tickets for games cost where you live? SF Giants baseball tickets go for around $20 for upper box. 49ers tickets? $50 for the way high seats. IndyCar? $30 for race day in Long Beach. Formula 1? In Austin, $550 for a race day pass šŸ˜². Like to sew? Good sewing machine. Needles, thread, fabric, patterns, buttons, trim. Like to cook? Good chef's knife, any number of other gadgets, fancy spices, fancy olive oil, fresh organically grown locally farmed ingredients. Guitar strings, picks, cables, tubes, drumsticks, drum heads, moongels, cool tuning gadgets. Musicians' iPhone apps. How many did I buy last year? All of these things are luxuries. I get 60 channels of TV over the air. I can eat and exercise at home (jumping rope is said to be one of the most effective aerobic exercises), make wooden objects out of pallets using a handsaw. We all like getting shiny toys to augment our interests. It's a dopamine rush. It probably goes back to tribal hunter-gatherer times where the one with the most tools survived. Getting a new gadget inspires us to try it out, and often enough I come up with a new idea or two. Every time I get a new plug-in, I spend at least an hour test driving it, and spending an hour in the play zone is actually good for coming up with new song ideas. I have half a dozen songs in folders named things like "Objeq Delay Testing." Or seeing how it performs on older, unfinished material. It tricks me into the play zone, which is the best place to be for creating. Maybe it's kinda silly to buy a new W.A. Production or Waves multi-widget when you're a good enough mix engineer get the same results (or better) with the freeware Dead Duck (or Meldaproduction, ob. mention) FX collection, but if you do anyway, and it made you happy for an hour or two, how much would you have spent on a burger and a movie? It's fun to chase down these deals and see how much we can get for relatively little. Does Larry get paid for it? Yeah, in enjoyment and the respect of people who benefit from his efforts. Do I feel cool when I manage be the first to share a deal? Heck yeah I do. tl/dr: Thanks to getting cheapie and freebie deals, I have some of the best audio production software in the industry. I have peace of mind that the tools I'm using will not hold me back, I only have to build skill in using them. Elysia mpressor and alpha master (total outlay $35). kHs Slice and Carve EQ's (both free). MAutoDynamicEQ ($20). Exponential Nimbus and R4 reverbs ($10 each). T-Racks VC-670 (free). Objeq, Sigmund, and Sandman Pro delays (total outlay $14). T-Racks Quad Compressor (free). Those are desert island processors, and let's see, total outlay....$89. That's less than or equal to two rounds of golf, or a sheet and a half of cheap birch plywood, or a new set of heads for my Slingerlands, or 10 pairs of Vic Firths, or one decent used Zildjian, or 4 good cables, or a year's worth of sanitation supplies for my hot tub, or 7 months of Netflix, or one really nice restaurant meal for two, or four "wagon wheel" pizzas.

  18. There are 3 ways, depending on exactly what you want: 1. Drag the MIDI clip to the desktop or a folder, and it'll get saved as a .mid file. Quite often you should be able to drag/drop it directly on the other piece of software. 2. Select the clips you want to export, then from the main menu: File -> Export-> Standard Midi File 3. File->Save Copy As, then pick "Standard MIDI File" as the format. This will save all the MIDI data in the project as a single MIDI file.

  28. The general advice is usually to just buy a new PC with the desired OS pre-installed. Or build your own, DIY... Alternatively, you can keep your old system running for as long as you are able to. But eventually you will be limited to applications that only run on the older platform. It is what it is!!! Progress!!!

For example, each layer of Unify can contain another instance of Unify, which can contain another ... and another... and another ...

Make sure to check it out. - subscribe to Gig Performer newsletter to be up-to-date with great video streams, tutorials, interesting Gig Performer in Action stories from pro musicians, new blogs and more.

  32. Yeah, RX Connect is unnecessary. CbB can share a copy of a clip directly with any editor that accepts file names on the command line. This is done by extended the Tools section of the CbB Utilities menu. The information is stored in the registry. I wrote a tool to edit this part of the registry. In fact, it was in response to a discussion about RX Connect on the old forum. The Tools Editor is part of CbB Tools mentioned in this thread Here is my setup for RX9. Download the program. Put it anywhere on your PC. Run it Select Tools Editor Set Update Registry to Yes Enter the Required Entries. Double-clicking in Exe Path opens a file browser. Click Submit To use Run CbB Select a clip and run RX from the Utilities menu. After saving and closing RX, CbB will prompt to load the new clip.

  34. In Windows 10, I had all my programs organized in groups on the main start screen page. Now there is no organization and it looks like an iPhone. All my standalone synths were well organized, now I have to dig in the all apps menu for them. Using search works, but in my mind takes away the benefit of a visual organization scheme.

  36. Evidently, the copyright owner, or a record company, or a production house, or a corporate entity representing one of the above or youtube pursuant to a takedown notice, or a lawyer representing one of the above, or someone, somewhere, etc. took down the video for some unknown and/or "stupid" reason. I guess that's part of the rules of the game, so to speak. Following the 808 --> 909 chain, I posted "One After 909."

  37. Got the serial as well. Aside from not being able to assign an ASIO driver, I'm rather impressed with this. Here are two quick examples of the splits in 2 (43 seconds: Full, Vox, Track) & 5 (52 seconds: Full, Vocal, Drums, Bass, Piano, Other). Blessed Assurance Consume Me EDIT: I've used iZotope Music Balance some which certainly gives you more options but for what it does, Simple Stems is aptly named for the quick and easy split.

  44. [UPDATE 26-Jul-2022: Cakewalk 2022.06 Update 1 (build 28.06.0.034) now available] Introduction The 2022.06 release introduces Mackie control surface improvements, loop and punch record enhancements, key binding to render Region FX, support for local help, in-app update improvements, plus various enhancements and bug fixes for user reported issues, all in keeping with our goal of making Cakewalk as reliable and enjoyable as possible. Please note that in order to automatically keep your activation status up to date, Cakewalk will renew your activation status whenever a new version of the application is installed and run for the first time, and when you sign in to BandLab from within Cakewalk. If you have never signed in to BandLab from within Cakewalk, you will be prompted once to sign in. The following highlights are intended to provide an overview of the more significant changes. Please also refer to the new features section of our documentation for more detailed information on the features. Please give us feedback on this release. We hope you like it! Update Jul 26 2022: 2022.06 Update 1 (build 28.06.0.034) Bug fixes: Audio Export presets not changing file type Extend Takes to Punch Out Time always reverts to loop End time when not loop comping Extend Takes to Punch Out Time / Comping Loop extend clip behavior should also work for MIDI clip recording Note name changes in Piano Roll view revert after clicking note Tracks are added in reverse order when moving to folder Process Effect plugin window requires minimum size Some users experiencing Activation Error 20 Updated to latest Microsoft VC redistributables 2022.06 Highlights Automatically extend final take when loop recording in Comping mode When loop recording in Comping mode , the last take now automatically extends to the loop end time if more than one loop iteration was recorded. This prevents previous takes from being split at the transport stop time, and makes comping much easier because each take is a complete clip. Note: If you loop record in Comping mode and also have auto punch Extend Takes to Punch Out Time enabled, then the last take will be extended to whichever occurs first: loop end or punch out time. Old behavior (incomplete last take and split clips): New behavior (complete last take and no split clips): Option to automatically extend final take when punch recording When Auto Punch recording, Cakewalk automatically splits all takes at the position where you stop recording. This happens if the transport is stopped before the punch out time. This behavior may not be desirable in some cases, such as when speed comping, where you want each take to be a complete clip. To prevent this behavior, Cakewalk now provides an option to extend the final take to the Auto Punch end. Right-click the Record button to open the Preferences dialog box, then enable Extend Takes to Punch Out Time. Note: The Extend Takes to Punch Out Time option also requires that Auto Punch is enabled. Mackie control surface improvements The Mackie Control surface includes several new enhancements. New compatibility modes In addition to the recommended Cakewalk/SONAR mode, the Mackie Control surface now supports two extra emulation modes that can be used if your control surface does not provide a dedicated Cakewalk/SONAR mode: Mackie Control Universal (Universal Mode). Emulates Mackieā€™s default button layout. Mackie Control Universal (Cubase Mode). Emulates Mackieā€™s Cubase/Nuendo button layout. It is important that both Cakewalk and your control surface are configured to use the same mode in order to ensure that buttons on the control surface map to the correct functions in Cakewalk. Note: If your control surface provides a Cakewalk/SONAR mode, we recommend using this mode to provide maximum compatibility. Disable Handshake now checked by default Earlier versions of the Mackie Control protocol required a handshake during the initialization of the control surface. Mackie removed this requirement in later versions. To reflect this change, the Disable Handshake option is now checked by default to bypass the handshake process. Note: You may have to uncheck Disable Handshake on older devices when using the Cakewalk/SONAR mode. Performance enhancement Routing and track/bus ordering are now cached internally in order to avoid unnecessary repeated calculations during the control surface refresh process. This results in improved UI performance when using a very fast refresh rate. The cache is reset every time the routing or track ordering changes, and then rebuilt again on the next query from the control surface. Option to open parent track folder when changing track focus The Track view Options menu contains a new Expand Track Folder on Track Focus option, which automatically opens the focused trackā€™s parent folder if itā€™s currently closed. This behavior may be desirable when using control surfaces or changing track focus via the Console view. Key binding to render Region FX A new key binding named Render Region FX allows you to render any Region FX for any active Region FX in the current clip selection. You can assign the key binding in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts (under Area: Global Bindings). Support for local help Cakewalk provides optional local help. To enable local help, go to Edit > Preferences > File - Advanced and select Always Use Local Help. When you enable local help for the first time, Cakewalk presents a toast notification to download and install the local help, and whenever updated local help is available. If your computer is not connected to the internet, Cakewalk will default to showing local help until an internet connection becomes available. Note: Offline help is only available in English. Tip: If you would like to use local help on a computer that is never connected to the internet, first download the local help from another computer that is connected to the internet, then copy the CakewalkHelp_Documentation_1.0.0.n.exe installer (found in \Downloads\Cakewalk) to removable media that you can transfer to your offline Cakewalk computer. Alternatively, copy the installed Cakewalk.chm file from the Cakewalk root folder (default is \Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core). In-app update improvements Cakewalk now supports in-app download of optional content that was previously only available from either BandLab Assistant or the Cakewalk Web installer (Studio Instruments Suite, Drum Replacer, Melodyne trial, Theme Editor, and demo projects). To see all available updates, select Help > Check for Updates. If any optional content has not been installed yet, or an update is available, Cakewalk presents a toast notification to download and install the content. Add file name to the download progress toast notification so users know what is being downloaded. Display error message when attempting to download multiple updates or checking for updates while one is in progress. Support for ARM64 PCs running Windows 11 for ARM Cakewalk will now install to ARM64 PCs running Windows 11 for ARM. Latest release notes are here. See prior release notes.
