  1. This is an old bug, but it was a simple fix. I noticed it was also ignoring track envelopes / articulations if they were in the selection - this has also been fixed. The fix will be available in the main release.

  2. It was highlighted in the release notes in the post at the beginning of this thread: Option to open parent track folder when changing track focus The Track view Options menu contains a new Expand Track Folder on Track Focus option, which automatically opens the focused track’s parent folder if it’s currently closed. This behavior may be desirable when using control surfaces or changing track focus via the Console view. To disable this, just uncheck this option within the Track View Options menu. It's there for people who use the primarily console view, or control surfaces along with the console view.

  5. I have been a synth-head since the mid-80's, and I have always loved layering sounds from several instruments to create new textures. In recent years as computers and soft synths have grown in power and capability, I've found that it's even easier to layer sounds while working all in-the-box now. With that said, I have been exploring the creative side of soft samplers alongside my collection of virtual analog, virtual digital, and virtual modular synths. It's pretty much a given that you can make some very interesting soundscapes and pads with classic synths and some effects. But what I see now is that modern samplers allow you to synthesize with organic waveforms (real world samples). which expands the creative possibilities for entirely never heard before sounds by shaping, blending, and/or morphing them together. I think that some of these sample based instruments from SoundPaint, Mntra, iZotope Iris, and even Unify have the potential to take sound design to the next level. And you can still layer them with traditional synths if desired. Worth exploring, and just my two cents...

  7. Just a heads up... the option to open parent track folder when changing track focus currently defaults to on. We've changed this to default to off for the main release, but this will only affect those who haven't installed 2022.06 EA. If you don't want this option on, just turn it off under the Track View options menu. It's a global rather than project setting, so it will remain off once you change it.

  15. I have a Workspace I am currently using for some tunes-in-progress and when selecting a track in the Console View the folder does indeed open/expand in the Track View to show me the track I am working on. I did a quick test on another PC that's still on 2022-02 (build 39). On that PC selected tracks in the Console View do not cause the folder to expand in the Track View. If this is new in the 2022-06 EA Release, my workflow would benefit from having (a) an option to choose the behavior that (b) can be saved along other setting within a Workspace. I can imagine there might be times when I do want the folder to be expanded but it seems the new behavior is more intrusive when I don't want this behavior. New Behavior Confirmed: Rolledback to 2022-02 Build 39 and the whack-a-mole feature is not there.

  23. This is actually a song I wrote around 10 years ago, for a songwriting challenge where the task was to write a song called "Blood On The Frets". Originally recorded at that time as a simple acoustic guitar/vocal song, I've just finished re-recording it with a more fleshed out arrangement, as it was always one I wanted to revisit now I have a bit more know how with recording and mixing.

  24. haha Cheers, my YouTube get very little views but oddly a couple of songs had a few, the songs i don't like haha I spend much more time doing music than video and i don't do lives etc. I think you need to do live videos and chats like Mike at Creative Sauce to build a following. Maybe i should do some general music videos on production tips on my soapbox but id end up doing less music... Iv'e got to sort a email list out for when i release a song on Youtube but the mail list platforms charge silly money these days. i did a real old song called "silence is deafening" or it was the chorus i cant remember.

  26. Thank goodness "Dunescape" is not a trademarked word. I love it as a descriptive term for a sub-genre of so-called "ambient" music I have played around with. I have not read the Dune books and cannot get into the movies at all. That could be related to my non-preference for what some people call "Dark Ambient." But as a word, "dunescape" is an apt descriptor for cascading/overlapping/evolving/textural music (layered with sonic reflections in much same way light makes patterns over rolling and angular environmentally sculptured dunes). Since my interest in this began with using a Moog at college and since so-called "generative music" has been making a comeback, I am now inspired to try making some dunescapes with my modular soft-synth of choice. I know this is probably off topic, but thanks for mentioning "dunescape."

  31. POSSIBLE BUG: I have MIDI clip with some notes and controllers, I select it and do Process>Length by 50% (start times and durations left checked, I only untick stretch audio, whether it matters or not, idk) as a result all controllers data that was before and/or after any notes in the clip are deleted. Am I missing some settings? Edit: just checked further, stretch audio doesn't matter. Any setting by less than 100% will crop any controllers data that sticks out before or after the notes in a clip. Settings by 100% or more keeps the controllers. It must be bug 🤔

  32. I never quite have the time to get involved in the whole EA business, but just want to say 1/ thanks to all who do, especially the developers of course, and 2/, this: ... is such a small, subtle, but brilliant improvement. This kind of workflow-focussed stuff is gold.

  39. I've played a few of the "real thing" and there is some truth to no two are alike the basic circuit is much more forgiving than a Trainwreck is when swapping out components. Most ODS models have some fairly similar characteristics that help define the sound and how the controls work. Between particular amps some might have more gain, more compression, and all that kind of stuff so there is some difference but at the same time simply changing mics or mic positions and cabs also dramaticly change the tone and feel of an amp perhpas even more than the changes in components. So in terms of an emulation, I think there is a lot of "does it get the basics" mentality. I'm not one who buys into the hype on these but I do like the voicing of the clean channel more than most other amps. The actual overdrive isn't really my cup of tea as for all the "touchresponsiveness" claims, the reality it isn't anywhere in the same ballpark as a Trainwreck. Dumbles are overly compressed and far less dynamic in a tactical approach. As for the BX vs NA takes. I will say the NA has the less fizzy top end on note decay on clean stuff and some of the functions like "harsh" and the Mic position, mixer and ambient control on the Cabinet tab really help to shape the sound in a way the BX doesn't have built in. (though the smooth filer ca help some like the harsh filder on NA) Note the BX one is made by the same guy. I'll have to spend more time with it, but giving the slight edge to the NA over BX for the sound/feel/adjustability. Either one is a really good amp sim though.

  40. If you're planning to get both Physion and SplitEQ, it's better to buy Physion first, register it and then use the upgrade path. The upgrade price from Physion to SplitEQ is $59.40. I realized this possibility only after I had bought them both...

  41. Carl, There is a video out there with Hans Zimmer on how he got these sounds. The imagination that went into that sound design and the way he pushed his musicians to create sounds from their instruments is incredible. I think you are grossly over-simplifying the genius of those sounds and the sound track and I'd challenge you to get some of these sounds yourself with a softsynth of your choice. EDIT: Here's the video
