  5. It is really good! I use it. Definitely recommended. Pianobook has a treasure trove of great little sample libraries -- all for FREE. And for those who don't have KONTAKT, as Joe mentioned, this library and many others are available in the Decent sampler format -- which is a free sampler plugin. I've often thought that we should probably regularly share in this forum when we come across a really special Pianobook library, like you just did, Joe -- but I think there's enough there, we could easily have a post every few days with a different great find (sample library) from Pianobook. I visit the site every week.

  7. While I realize someone will probably claim this thread isn't appropriate for the deals forum, I find threads like these super valuable -- and it's for a purchase I only made because of a thread here in the deals forum. I'm going to hold off on the update until someone posts the issues they're now experiencing are resolved. If you could please keep us updated @abacab and @locrian. I'd rather wait until I get the all clear before installing the update. Thanks for posting your issues. It's valuable information.

  9. Some more progress since our last post. We'velaunched the initial version of price tracking on the site now. Before I go further into this, I just want to clarify, everything on the site including functionality, design, layout, experience etc. is all "MVP" (minimal viable product) meaning it may not look very pretty, but it will work. We're doing it this way as its the fastest way to build upon the idea, continually iterating, adding new features, improving design etc. as we go. There are lots of things that don't work as expected such as filtering categories/sub-categories and multiple versions of products being listed (because one distributor might call something "Piano VST" and the other might just call it "The Piano VST" making it hard to merge into one "product name" in our database), but these are all expected on our end and we can fix them in time. The very first iteration of price tracking is now live on the site. You'll see a little "History" link over each deal icon and when you click on it, it will bring you to the price history for that product. While it may be missing some information for now for products that are on multiple stores (if the other stores call the product by a slightly different name - which will be fixed), its the first working version Here's an example for MAmp by Melda Production: https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/price-history/MAmp-by-MeldaProduction-2211/ We've only tracked its price for 3 months so far, so there's limited data for now, but you'll see it shows the price history of the product on ADSRSounds and Plugin Boutique. Over the next few months (and for Black Friday especially) it will start to build more of a price history profile so that chart will be more detailed and have more stores on it. The price history page doesn't look nice, doesn't have button to link to the product on the stores, and doesn't have price notifications (get notified when it hits a specific price) but those will come further down the line. Just wanted to show you that the price tracking is already up and running, tracking prices of products across multiple stores to give you a better idea of where the prices are throughout the year. Any feedback much appreciated!

  10. Yeah, I've invested in KONTAKT and it's my go to sampler -- and I'm very happy with it for its advantages that permit the most sophisticated libraries and scripting available today. But I'm well aware that KONTAKT and commercial sample libraries for KONTAKT are well beyond some musicians budgets and I LOVE seeing tools available to everyone that are no cost (fully aware that the price of entry is still a costly powerful computer) and it makes me glad to see how many great tools and libraries are available for free. If anyone is on a very tight budget and looking for sample libraries and a sampler to play them at no cost, please check out Pianobook -- it's fantastic. Also, if anyone is seeing this post and on a tight budget -- or have no budget -- and are looking for more free tools/libraries/plugins that come highly recommended, don't hesitate to make a post. There's a lot of great stuff available for free these days and us regulars here are happy to point you to it.

  15. There are two basic types of tracks in CbB - audio and MIDI. An instrument track is a simplified presentation of an audio+MIDI track pair. The term "synth track" refers to an audio track with a synth plug-in as its input.

  17. Bundle for Ukraine 998 items Minimum $10 donation Over 700 creators have joined in support to donate their work. All proceeds from this bundle will be split between the following charities: International Medical Corps provides medical assistance in the region. They have very low fundraising overhead (1% of income), with 89% of donations going to medical aid and 10% to administration. Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization that helps children cope with the horrors of war, PTSD, readjusting to school, and getting back to being kids. They have also been doing a lot of grassroots impromptu work during the war, such as helping set up shelters. Our hope is that this war will be over soon, and they can begin the work of healing these kids' hearts.

  18. I was looking at that one, but I figured it added nothing really when I have Kontakt libraries like the Vocalise ones from Heavyocity, Mosaic voices, Output Exhale, etc. I went for the Apache Flute. I don't have something like that.

  19. It hasn't been on sale in ages, I read somewhere that since Acustica doesn't make any money from third party libraries with this product it wouldn't be offered on sale any more. So I think that's why these sales are few and far between nowadays. I don't think it went on sale at all in 2021.

  25. The Spruce Steel String sounds very intimate and has an easy-to-use concept with great flexibility. It is designed for playing melodies, soft arpeggiated chords and rhythmic patterns intuitively without having to tweak many knobs. Every sample has been recorded without a pick, using only fingers and nails for a close and warm sound. The included articulations are finger sustains, nails melody, nails chords, shorts, momentary shorts, momentary ghost strokes, momentary grace notes (tempo-synced, velocity-sensitive) and a set of restroke keys which let you retrigger any held notes in a different articulation. You’ll find some examples how to use it in the walktrough video. Have fun! 19.23 GBP at Loot Audio Maple Mandolin is 5.77 GBP https://www.lootaudio.com/category/kontakt-instruments/Rawbit-Audio/maple-mandolin Cedar Guitarlale is 5.77 GBP https://www.lootaudio.com/category/kontakt-instruments/Rawbit-Audio/cedar-guitarlele

  26. The tempo track shares the same envelope editor as the automation lanes. When using jumps in automation, the dotted lines literally mean no automation at all. This means if you started a project in the middle of a dotted area, no automation would be sent out until it reached a node. Obviously you can't have an area in the project with no tempo, so for tempos, there's pretty much no difference between a jump and a straight line. It's really down to how you want to work. Multiple nodes at the same position should in most cases end up being merged into one node. If in doubt, refer to the Tempo Inspector to see if the list of tempos makes sense - and of course, there's nothing wrong with deleting nodes / changing them to jumps if you want to. Obviously, if the rare case when you start seeing strange envelopes being drawn with nodes / lines in the wrong place, this is a bug - the easiest way around this is to simply delete the offending nodes. FYI - this is how the tempo track works: 1. The tempo stream contains shape events in exactly the same way as an automation lane contains shapes. 2. When you change the tempo envelope, behind the scenes a linear list of tempo changes ( the tempo map ) is regenerated based on snapshots of the tempo envelope at regular intervals. By default this is every 1/16th note, although it can be changed in Cakewalk.ini to be a higher resolution using the TempoMapDecimationResolution setting. 3. The resultant tempo map is exactly the same tempo map used prior to the introduction of the tempo track. 4. Saving a project saves both the tempo track envelope and the tempo map. This approach has several advantages: 1. The vast majority of the code didn't need to be changed, as it's referring to exactly the same tempo map as it did before. In other words, the tempo track is used for only as an editor for the tempo map, and only the tempo map is used when playing, or whenever edit operations need to calculate the current tempo - just as it did before. 2. Projects remain both forward and backward compatible with SONAR and earlier versions of CbB : Backwards compatible, because we can generate a tempo envelope from an existing tempo map if a tempo envelope doesn't exist; forwards compatible because there's always a tempo map stored with the project - earlier versions will simply ignore the tempo envelope stream. 3. We can use the same envelope editor for the tempo track as we do for automation envelopes. For the most part the tempo track envelope is king, and the tempo map is only generated from the tempo track envelope. There are a few exceptions where the opposite happens - i.e. the tempo map is manipulated directly and the tempo track envelope is then regenerated from the map: Loading older projects that don't have a tempo track envelope Set Measure / Beat at Now Tempo detection from audio - either through AudioSnap, or using Melodyne (drag audio track to time ruler) In these cases, separate Cakewalk.ini variables are used to determine the resolution the envelope should use. The ini file settings are documented here: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tempo.15.html

  27. I'm sure there's more than one way to do it, but I just tried a method in CbB, the one I would use for its simplicity. Assuming the tracks are all audio, I would bounce them down to a single stereo track in the same project. Do that by selecting all the tracks you want, going to Tracks>Bounce to Tracks and selecting busses as the source, then Master bus. Also assuming the tracks are going through your Master bus. Once that master track is rendered, select that track only, then go to Process at the top, then Length. I did 120%, which slowed it down quite a bit. So, now you have a slow track and your fast track(s) all in the same project. Solo whichever one you're working on and when you're through, you could delete the slow tracks if you want. If they are MIDI through soft synths, you would have to render the MIDI to audio first. Welcome to the forum.

  33. If you mean BandLab assistant, the easiest way to get around this message is to download it again from the bandlab website (i.e. not via an update in the app itself), and re-install it. FWIW, unless you're using the BandLab loops, there's no reason to ever run BandLab assistant or even have it installed. Apart from the loops, everything else it does for Cakewalk can be done within Cakewalk itself.

  44. Just a heads up here, and it may only be me, but this library update clobbered all of my listed sample folders in the Cosmos browser, except for the built-in one. Going to try to restore the "cosmos.sqlite" db that I backed up yesterday from the " \AppData\Local\Waves Audio\Waves Plugin Server" path. Edit: No luck with restore, even after restoring the full "Waves Plugin Server" folder. Way to go Waves! 🙄

  45. Indeed, truly disappointing. More so when something that should be considered an essential feature doesn´t get acknowledge by the developers. Please, give as an answer as to what to expect. Will it be implemented? Is there a timeline? Or is it simply not seriously considered, even after so much time and almost every other daw having it implemented? This feature is essential for anyone trying to do any midi programming. Is not only a thing with orchestral libraries (in which it is indispensable), but with all virtual instruments. A midi-tick based approach is just not workable. Hope this gets an answer.

  46. I'm glad that someone else also found it necessary... I made this request last year, and I believe there were several requests for this in the old forums many years ago. But unfortunately there's no official reply yet I'm an orchestral composer and have been using Sonar/CbB for over 10 years. Cakewalk has so many great features that can make my workflow efficient. But it's truly disappointing that this necessary feature has not been added into Cakewalk for so many years, while almost every other modern DAW has it... I think many people don't know there is a feature like that, and how much it can speed up their workflow. Therefore not many people are requesting for it... @Noel Borthwick @msmcleod Dear Bakers, could you please consider adding this necessary feature for orchestral composers? Thank you very much!

  47. Could you please consider adding this feature to CbB? I think this is a necessary feature in modern composing workflow, and many people including me rely on this so much... There's even a sticky thread in the VI-Control forum titled "Negative Track Delay Database / Spreadsheet"... Many other DAWs, like Cubase and Studio One, can do this. I really hope to see this feature in CbB! Many thanks!
