I needed it myself to keep track of my purchases from previous group buys and especially the Amplitube a la carte freebies. Glad it was useful to someone else.4 points

Even after the IK GB and all the great Amplitude 5 FX I picked up in that, I still reach for my Kuassa plugins because I can use them with other FX and don't have to fire up the whole A5 echo-system just to use an effect I want... Plus, they sound great! 😎3 points

This. There's no way I could swing sale prices for some of the plugins I've amassed if they weren't on sale on KVR or VI Control. You just have to put the blinders on and know what you're looking for. Timing helps a ton, too.3 points

but its true. 😞 IIRC, I just looked at some of the numbers. Inflation shot up like crazy .. fyi.. There is a song on a not particularly well received Paul McCartney record that reminds me of this. but I like that record. Great playing on it by Pete Townsend and Nile Rogers.2 points

We can agree to disagree, Larry, you clearly have had some less than affectionate words for a lot of developers like your epic battle with IK. I look at developers from two perspectives. As a customer and as a marketing and branding strategist (I've consulted to around two dozen of them in this industry). There are a number of strategies Toontrack has taken over the past decade I would classify as customer unfriendly, but specifically, in this instance, I'm thinking of their practice of as you (Larry) put it, shutting the door on upgrade pricing for past customers. That is antithetical to being customer loyal. Software developers in this industry commonly have an upgrade path for customers of their major product lines when introducing a new version of their product and don't put tight time restrictions on it. They can easily state that the are no longer supporting a previous iteration of the product and still continue upgrade pricing. And yes, when there is an extended amount of time -- say a decade -- sure, you can see upgrade pricing is no longer offered. So why do companies time limit upgrades? There's only one reason. To drive revenue more quickly, to force the hand of past customers to make a purchase that meets the brand's timeline. There's no mystery behind. They're forcing customers to pay on their timeline, not the customer's timeline or financial consideration. And again, if that timeline can span a decade, of course, a software developer needs to put limits, but not the kind of limits Toontrack engages in. That's hyper-aggressive and very customer unfriendly. I bought SD2 and don't qualify for upgrade pricing to SD3, so I'd have to shell out the same as a brand new customer, $400 USD or more. Far more than their competitors' offerings. Larry, while you hold XLN in utter contempt for not having a new version of AD2 -- and I empathize with the desire for them to introduce a new version of the product; XLN is an extremely customer-focused brand -- they have been excellent at maintaining/updating AD2 at no cost to customers. I bought AD2 several years ago as an upgrade when it was first tolled out. I've used AD2 on three different PCs with three different versions of Windows and it performed flawlessly on each. That, IMO, is not abandonware, as you regularly label it. Abandonware isn't software that is well maintained, regularly updated and supported by a developer. It's just a product that hasn't seen innovation in a very long time. And looking at what XLN can do with XO, I think they have the ability to make some real improvements to AD2. I'm not sure why they don't. I would imagine that it has been their biggest selling product line, so you would expect that they would keep actively developing it, not just maintain it, which doesn't bring in revenue. So, I really don't know what's up with XLN and their AD2 line. I would expect that AD3 would have to be rolled out within the next year. But it's been a lot of years. If they didn't maintain the product so well, I think you could call it abandonware, but again, it's a well maintained and supported product. The thing is, it's just been a long time since they've introduced a new version -- which many software companies do just for revenue's sake. So, I would at least give them credit for that.2 points

My experiences with Toontrack have been nothing but good. I'm sure there was a good reason (for them) to shut the door on upgrades...I highly doubt it was "arbitrary", and just to make people mad...that's not their MO....2 points

Addictive Trigger is awesome and the fact that it utilizes samples from AD2 makes it an incredible value. If I had one feature request for AD2, it would be to implement a song builder like EZ Drummer, EZ keys, EZ Bass, etc.2 points

I prefer the name used in the documentation Add Track menu Instrument tab. Asking for the Instrument tab to have more of the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog options is not a new request. It was requested around the time of the addition of the menu to SONAR.2 points

It is true, the function called by Insert > Soft Synth... is not exposed for binding. The only reason I can think of is, unlike the other insert "track" functions, "Insert Soft Synth" launches a menu instead of actually inserting a track into the project. This is also the case with Insert > Rewire Device. When I mention things like accelerator keys, it is a way, and in this case a very similar way, to perform the requested task (i.e. keyboard shortcut binding albeit predefined in the program). If you were going to say "Global Menu," that's the name I use for the menu at the top of the main Cakewalk window (shows Track View by default). It might be called "Main Menu?" I haven't run across the nomenclature in the documentation. My guess is that you know, so please fill me in if you are inclined. Why take my post out of context? The question was specifically about the term "Insert window" in the post immediately above mine. I suspected the user meant Insert Soft Synth Options dialog but wanted to make sure. Aside from the Add Track menu all the other methods of inserting synths call the "Insert Soft Synth Options dialog" (as long as "Ask every time" is enabled in the dialog) after the synth has been selected. This is why my response to post "That only opens the menu list" started with "Of course, it all starts with selecting a synth." As for "Global Menu" vs. "Main Menu", this is the first time I recall hearing the term "Global Menu" but I understood it to mean the menu at the top of the application. Personally, I call these the "Main Menu" in any program but the meaning in the OP was clear. As with most feature requests, I have no objection to the request. Generally my replies in this part of the forum are suggestions to accomplish similar results with the tools at hand while waiting for the request to be implemented. Granted in this case, there is no way to create a custom module button but there is a predefined keyboard shortcut.2 points

What you need is separate audio outs from the drum plug-in. This works with one or more MIDI tracks. However, some drum plug-ins have only one stereo out. If the drum plug-in is stereo only, you can use "Split Notes To Tracks.CAL" to break out the MIDI data into separate tracks and use each track to drive different instances of the drum plug-in. You will need also need extra audio tracks for each install of the drum plug-in. It is also possible to leave all the MIDI in one track and use a drum map to point to multiple plug-ins. It will still be necessary to have an audio per plug-in.1 point

Abandonware is not the correct term and has the wrong connotation. They still regularly update their stuff (presumably bug fixes, as I don't recall seeing a change list in a while), they're just not offering new kits or pieces. But I still like the sound of their kits and XO, which was their most recent was the most recent addition, gets a lot of use. I find with XO I can pretty much dial in what ever drum sound/type I'm looking for and then get back to song writing.1 point

Several interesting and unique fx here. Irid (32 EUR) is a personal favorite even if it is kind of a one-trick pony. Moodal is just strange if you're into bizarre sound design and accidental "hmm, that's different!" moments. But the only one I consider a must-have is tkDelay (also 32 EUR), which has been my first-string delay ever since I first used it. Easy to use and has every feature you'd want from a delay, e.g. ducking, blendable reverse, and micropitch modulation.1 point

I have resisted upgrading my V Collection since 2016, but they've got me this year for $99. That was on my list if they had this price. But their FX Collection was not on my list because I already have more reverbs, compressors, etc. than I can use. But I do admit there are some very unusual plugins ithere that could be fun to play with. And they all look beautiful. Even if they aren't any better than the ones I own, they look stunning. Good artist. My memory is that it was $99 for me to get the original set and now it is $69 to get version 2 which has more stuff. Hmmmm.... This is definitely GAS at work.1 point
