  1. We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.11! This is primarily a maintenance release that includes fixes for a few user reported issues. It also includes several optimizations and improvements to the behavior when using Track/Bus Solo, exclusive solo and solo override functionality, especially when used in more complex routing scenarios utilizing aux tracks and sidechains. If you have encountered any of the cases listed below, please check out this release and and confirm that your issue is resolved before we release the official public version (most likely early next week). This release cycle will be very short so only regressions or severe bugs will be considered. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.11 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.09. Download Cakewalk 2021.11 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.09 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.09 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers Updated to 27.11.0.010 This contains the following additional improvements: Soloing a bus now includes any sidechain sends to plugins in tracks/buses Improvements to plugin silence flushing Solo, Exclusive Solo and Solo Override improvements The internals for track and bus solo have been greatly improved to handle more complex routing scenarios with tracks and buses routing or sending to aux tracks and side chains. Prior to this release there were scenarios where soloing intermediate tracks or buses would not solo all the parts of the signal flow. Additionally, solo override now works consistently with aux tracks and tracks containing active sidechains. Dim solo has also been made aware of the solo override state and works consistently. Issues Resolved in Cakewalk 2021.11 EA (build 27.11.0.010): Solo: Soloing a bus silences any sidechain sends to plugins in tracks/buses unless sending tracks are soloed Switching exclusive solo between aux tracks can cause the solo state to get out of sync Regression: Exclusive Solo Mode not working after unsoloing track Regression: Exclusive Solo "solo override" fails to work properly Solo Override does not behave as expected on Aux tracks or buses Solo Override does not behave as expected with Dim Solo Sidechain fails to trigger when soloing bus Soloing buses without an input streams audio not sent to bus Soloing a track with a send to an aux would not make the aux audible Export: Melodyne used as track effect hangs on export audio Some Mix Enables check boxes too large for dialog Duplicate filenames warning appears whenever using {taskname} tag Export Audio dialog not clearing/restoring exclusive solo / track solo override status Export Audio: "Use same settings for all" option not appearing for "Tracks through entire mix" Export audio directory should be deleted if not used, and only created for cwp projects Misc.: Preferences dialog categories illegible in High Contrast mode in Windows CTRL+SHIFT drag import of MIDI causes clips to overlap unexpectedly Step Sequencer clip fails to loop in user project Articulations ignored when scrubbing in Piano Roll view Piano Roll scrub stops working after using Clips scrub Add StickyFileExportNotification registry setting Softube plugins throwing error on scan and writing null CSLID to inventory Clean audio folder suggests deleting files in default export audio folder Disable project auto-save while File Export/Bounce to Track(s) dialogs are open

  7. Many thanks to Dan Picknell, Danny Danzi and Hugo Ribeiro for helping Daryl and I get this song to the next level Note: remixed on 4 Jan 2024 This mix was reviewed by Warren Huart on Feedback Friday (via YouTube) 5 Jan 2024. HIs only critique is that "something" was clipping either on the master bus or before. Other than that he thought the song, production and performances were great. He especially liked the synth melody. Dan Picknell - Vocals Danny Danzi - Guitars Hugo Ribeiro - Drums Daryl Greenway - Lead Synth Ed Kocol - Bass, EP and light Synth Into The Night (c) 2021 Daryl Greenway & Ed Kocol Verse 1: I was raised on rock and roll It's in my head, my heart, my soul They say "You can't rock, you're too old" But I've never done what I've been told Chorus: Into the night I'm gonna rock Keep ticking 'til my clock won't tock I'm gonna run, no need to walk Into the night I'm gonna rock Verse 2: Rocking day and night was my thing Until I could make my guitar sing Waiting to grab the golden ring It's my dream and I will cling to it Repeat Chorus: Bridge: Nothing's gonna slow me down I'll keep rocking all over town I'll be here and always around In for a penny, in for a pound Verse 3: 2019 brought out a scare The days got longer, so did my hair Sat by the window, I could only stare From the comfort of my padded rocking chair Repeat Chorus

  15. While this might look simple on the surface, its not that surprising that this scenario doesn't work. The dependency graph logic for bus solo is extremely complex and corner cases have to be specifically programmed esp in more complicated routing scenarios. I'll try and explain. There are two independent solo "groups" for Buses and tracks that can be independently manipulated. When you solo a bus it figures out all of its upstream and downstream circuit dependencies and makes these audible in the signal flow. Similarly when you solo tracks or aux tracks. However these solo groups are independent. In your scenario since you soloed the kick and bass buses, it figured out that it should make the corresponding aux tracks audible as well as their dependencies which are the bass and kick tracks. However the sidechain is an internal send from the kick aux track to the bass track aux. Since you only soloed buses and nothing is soloed in the track solo group, the intra track send is not evaluated and therefore the send is silenced. If you solo the kick aux track containing the compressor this will work. Also, if you worked exclusively with aux tracks it would also work. I'll have a look and see if if I can make the bus solo dependency figure out the intra track sends. Without breaking anything else! I suggest attaching a simple project for the issue since the routing can be very specific and there are thousands of permutations.

  22. Well, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it. You are right, doing this routing switch does bring the CPU down. 5.2.0 is still a little more CPU hungry, but not by much. I repeated the same tests I had done 2 days ago for support to clearly show the problem, but this time using this routing switcheroo. Here is a summary of the results. I created tracks in Cakewalk with AT5 on each track at its default preset. I started getting crashes when going over 60 tracks, so kept that as a maximum. 5.0.3 - 60 tracks was using about 67% CPU 5.2.0 - 60 tracks was 100% and actually the PC was not responding very well 5.2.0 - 20 tracks brought the CPU about on par with 60 tracks in 5.0.3 with your manipulation on each instance of AT5 on each track, I was able to get: 5.2.0 - 60 tracks with 78% CPU usage a bit more than 5.0.3 5.2.0 - 51 tracks brought the CPU about on par with 60 tracks in 5.0.3 Of course you have found a way to show the problem, they will have to figure out the bug in their code. 😋 But I understood what you meant. I have sent my tests report to support through the ticket I had already opened. In it I linked to your post to give you credit for the find.

  25. I rarely use samples (other than drums) and had ignored Spitfire Audio as yet another high end strings for film but find the LABS to be an interesting collection of somewhat unique samples suitable for ear candy in arrangements. Arguably more useful than yet another amp sim or compressor clone. But beware, they are high quality marketing hooks which could contribute to you missing something from your wallet... I've bought a couple products since.

  26. Here's why I see "Never on Sale" as an important thing for the rollout of Soundpaint. More than any company I can think of, 8dio has the wackiest pricing. They will sell something for $298 and then it's $198 and then it's $98 and then it's a free gift if you buy something else. Or maybe a freebie altogether. So you always feel precarious whenever you buy anything from them. You can buy something and it might come out for a tenth of that. And they will continue doing that. But Soundpaint is a separate product with its own website. It's made by Troels and the team, but it's not available on 8dio as far as I can tell. I think they are making a point that Soundpaint is not an 8dio product and will not be sold in the same way. Soundpaint will be sold like Vallhalla and Indiginus. No sales ever. Are there other companies like this? I just know of these two. As I understand the Indiginus and Valhalla plan, they could charge twice as much for their products and a lot of people would buy them. But instead of a 50% off sale now and then, the 50% off is year round. And that's why the guitar is $20. Would it still sell if it was $50? You bet! But then if it ever went on sale for $20, some people might feel bad. While you may think that "Never on Sale" is not a selling point, it's a massive issue for anything that comes from 8dio. If you paid $98 for a Soundpaint instrument on 8dio, it might turn up as a freebie later. That absolutely could happen. They're saying it won't and I appreciate that. Even the bundle is no pressure because it only discounts $10. Better to wait and get the things you really want. Another tell is that all 8dio prices end in 8, but these have regular prices like $20. PS I think Soundpaint is awesome.

You do need an iLok, but i know most of us have these. It is very good on CPU usage. I am gonna jump on this deal before it is over, thanks to Larry!!!

  32. Yes, but not the good kind. People who frequent forums tend to form bad impressions of companies whose products are pimped in this fashion. As @bdickens pointed out, there are legitimate subforums on this forum for advertising deals. I've bent the rules a few times in the case of deals on upgrading a certain popular free bundle, but I did it in the spirit of turning my fellow Cakewalk users on to something that I myself use daily and can answer questions about. This hit-and-run posting of ad copy is bad form. Serves nothing but to create ill will.

  34. No need to download them all. You can just download a few that interest you, one at a time. In the Spitfire Audio app, under the LABS tab, it will show all of the available libraries. They are initially shown in the "Not Installed" list. As you install them, the ones on your computer will show in the "Installed" list.

  38. Well actually, LABS download is ala carte. The free LABS products are available as you are ready for them. No need to be added to a specific user account, as there is no account required, other than "installed" or"not downloaded" under the LABS tab in your Spitfire Audio app.

  39. There are currently 43 free libraries in the LABS collection. It is a collection of unique samples that you may find useful if you are into sound design. I have about 19GB installed in my LABS sample folder. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/getting-started/ It uses its own player, that opens as a plugin, which is very minimalist. You have control over expression (volume), modulation, and reverb. Everything else is baked into the preset. But there are some interesting and unique sounds in here!

  42. I wanted to ask support a question about SoundPaint, but didn't get the chat pop-up on the SoundPaint website, so I asked it on the 8dio chat instead; the support agent said (and I paraphrase): Hi there, let me transfer you to a SoundPaint support agent. So yes - it does look that way. Maybe Spectrasonics; and I've never seen Serum on sale, but not sure if any of Xfer's other products have been on sale. Yes - it's nice to know I can pick them up a bit later after Black Friday.
