  1. Great review in the August issue of Computer Music (p. 38) and a free CM Pluck instrument by Melda.

  2. I bought this mic for a friend of mine the last time the mic (alone) was on sale. I have to say that it was quite a bit better than I expected, especially for the price. I think I paid $ 19.95 then.

  3. Boy, that title threw me off at first! The traduction for dirty in french is spelled 'sale'. So at first glance, that title translates to: 'UVI dirty music fest' 🤪

  5. As much of a fan of both Meldaproduction and CM, this is coming off as kinda half-baked. The instructions in the magazine say that they will try to make some presets available at File Silo, but if they're up there, I can't find them. Also, the synth's main UI is 4 knobs and 4 horizontal sliders. The sliders are operated by placing your cursor on the knob and then dragging up and down. Note that I said "horizontal" sliders. If you try to drag left and right, nothing happens. Meldaproduction's patch browser is one of the company's weaker elements, and since MSoundFactory makes extensive use of browsing for instruments and patches, this is reflected in the product. I've yet to spend as much time lost in a softsynth's patch browser as I have with MSoundFactory, which is even weirder because the thing stock only comes with 2 instruments, the excellent grand piano and a really great-sounding synth called Super Saw. Word to the wise: once you finally get the UI of the instrument you want to show up, immediately make a DAW preset for the plug-in, before you touch or click on anything else. Failure to do so may result in your life ebbing away 5 minutes at a time while you repeatedly try to "get back" to where you last saw the piano or synth. What's that you say, you should be able to just search and find it? You are correct, you should. I'll let that one stand there. I tried the "download presets" button but it said I wasn't a licensed user, a condition that I am sure will prevail until such time as someone gives me the MCompleteBundle. An instrument is a different thing from an effect, and Meldaproduction's "Poindexter Jumps Down The Rabbit Hole" schtick works fine for the latter but not for the former.

  10. 'Tis a mysterious, nay legendary, mystical and mysterious beastie that some say crawled forth from the primordial soup at the very birth of life countless eons ago and uttered the mysterious yet emphatic first words ever spoken by any carbon-based organism this side of the Andromeda galaxy. Those utterances have echoed down the centuries and have become as legendary and mysterious as the mysterious life-form that spaketh them. Those profound and unforgettable words, should you need reminding, were: "Tune thy mighty third string on thy mighty Fender - other basses are available - until it resonateth at the perfick pitch of the A Minor note". Either that or some bloke wiv sum basses, too many plug-ins, and an unmissable pair of plump, perky and protuberant moobs.

  11. I got some spare time during the pandemic and as a result I created a new theme. Continuing with the metal label convention this one is called “Lead”. When compared to my previous themes “Gran Vista” and “Carbon”, this one is flatter and maybe less obtrusive (some would perhaps say more modern). The blue highlights are fetched from my previous themes, while the gradient Control Bar background and buttons have been created from scratch (or actually using a new custom background layer in Photoshop). An overall goal has been to maintain contrast between buttons, text and background. And, of course, to make it look good. One small detail: a feature that I think would work well in most themes is that the Loop, Selection and Punch buttons all have been given a colour accent that corresponds to the same area in Track view, i.e. yellow, green and red respectively. I will add this to the Gran Vista and Carbon themes as well the next time they need to be updated. Download link: I’ve made this theme for my own use, but in case anyone would like to use it you can download it from here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEeduVqWy0FPQFKe0?e=Jp6SkG Release history: For those interested, there's a release history that covers update information about all my themes. Here's a link to the that pdf document: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEdu3To6t7ZeQmmAo

  14. I had this for a couple of weeks after BF and it was overall a good experience. I compared Captain Plugins at the same time. I ended up returning both (they both have a 30-day money-back guarantee). Captain required the app to constantly "check in" with its pattern database at the developer site to render new patterns and would not activate unless the connection was live. Showstopper for me. Orb on the other hand was too limited in the scales it supported at the time. It's a really cool concept though, and the synth is much better to my ear than Captains plugins. If I picked up one again, it would be Orb. And I may do that again with this sale, hoping for an update that broadens the available scales. Both developers were really gracious with the return process and simply asked why I was asking for a refund. They were equally appreciative for the feedback and the Orbians said they're working on expanding what was missing.

  30. Think it will be, unless they have to delay the release of BW4 and they will not release it until July 2022. You get a year of updates when you buy Bitwig, seems it includes both point as full releases.

  34. Thanks, but I'm not looking for a count-in before the recording starts, I'm looking for a count-in before the playing starts, while recording, so that early notes get recorded. Exactly. A musical score starts at measure 1, not measure 2. Yet every DAW forces songs to start at measure 2 or later to allow early notes to be recorded.

  35. One might think so except that if you were to calculate the overall MTBF for the combination of those individual components, I think you'll find that statistically the risk of something actually going wrong is not significant. Further, if the risk was that high, there would not be hundreds of thousands of musicians touring with computer-based systems.

  38. The Fredonia Grand Organ features one of the biggest sounds you’ll ever use, deep-sampled with four mic positions and four registers (Swell, Positive, Pedal, and Great). Make it your own. All 39 stops can be individually toggled, giving you absolute control over the tone, from ethereal beauty to an almost cosmic scale. Or get a brilliant sound right out of the box with an array of presets. Play it like a real organ, including crescendo and swell controls. $129 https://impactsoundworks.com/product/fredonia-grand-organ/
