  2. There's a trade off in order to offer the 'all in one' plugin workflow of Acquas. I wouldn't worry about it, they still sound great & better than 90% ( Eq's, not comps) of the plugins currently on the market. It's the cpu, workflow or the AA drama that's the killer or turns people off.

  3. Man, sometimes things work out in such a weird way! I've been looking for something like this for like 3 days and I had given up and this just shows up here! Exactly what I needed at the time I needed it! Thank you!

  6. I listened to a Demo video, and it sounded good...but it didn't make me go WOW like Taupe did, so I think I'm going to get N4, as it's the most bang for the buck at the moment at 80% + my 20% of Coupon makes it $70.

  9. Man takes his dog to the vet, says the dog has been acting listless. Vet prescribes vitamins. Vitamins? the man said, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I want a second opinion! So the vet brings in a cat, who walks around the dog and then looks up at the vet and nods. Yep, says the vet. Vitamins. WTF? I want a third opinion! So the vet brings in a Labrador retriever, who sniffs the patient and nods to the doc. Yep, says the vet. That clinches it, and hands the man a bill for $300. 300?!? why so high? Says the vet: don't blame me. You're the one who demanded the cat scan and the lab test.

  10. I've had a lot of free time this year and I decided to try to make the most of it by writing some music. I've always wanted to try to combine guitar and electronic music together, but some of my previous experiments haven't gone so well. Perhaps this is a bit better though. Its all instrumental and I hope you enjoy it.

  13. I've finally found the reason why I couldn't see this plugin. It looks like some VSTs are not available, when I have custom plugin layout active. When I switched to "Type" view in Audio Plugins, Big-Sur showed up.

  14. FabFilter has just released an update for all FabFilter plug-ins, containing various bug fixes and improvements. This update is free for existing customers and FabFilter recommends everyone to update to the latest plug-in versions. So, what's new in this update? Pro-Q 3: Fixed an issue that could cause high volume spikes when switching a curve between Low Cut and Brick Wall shapes. Fixed a possible crash when changing a plug-in preference (e.g. Show Help Hints) with multiple plug-in instances open. Fixed an issue with the Compare button lighting up incorrectly in Pro Tools. Fixed a bug that caused the Input reference option in EQ Match not to work. Saturn 2: Fixed a bug that caused missing modulation visualization when using 150% High DPI scaling on Windows. All plug-ins: Fixed an issue with text entry for parameters on macOS Catalina. Fixed occasional crashes on macOS when loading projects in some DAWs (e.g. Logic Pro), related to having PACE-protected third-party plug-ins in the same session. Fixed occasional crashes in Bitwig on macOS, when opening sessions that contain FabFilter VST3 plug-ins with side chain support. Fixed interface scaling issues on macOS 10.14 and higher, when dragging a plug-in interface between Retina and non-Retina monitors. All VST3 and AU plug-ins with now show up in the DAW without the 'FabFilter ' or 'FF ' prefix in their name. On macOS, all plug-ins are now 64-bit only. Minor bug fixes and improvements. The updated plug-ins are fully compatible with previous versions. The latest versions and 30-day trials are available for download now at www.fabfilter.com/download. System requirements are either Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or XP (32-bit and 64-bit) and a VST 2/3 host or Pro Tools, or Mac OS X 10.8 or higher (64-bit only) with Intel processor, and an Audio Units host, VST 2/3 host, or Pro Tools. https://www.fabfilter.com/download

  15. Yeah for me, all Tim Petherick libraries outclass Acquas and I have nearly all of them now but they are an adjustment to my workflow, which isnt for everyone. I use Bluecat patchwork so each instance in a Comp or EQ opens up stacked up each time I open. I freeze tracks a lot when using N4 and AA plugins, too much of a CPU killer otherwise

  16. N4 brings lots of interesting possibilities to the table. You can load (the N4) version of your Acqua plugins within N4. This opens up the ability to create your ''setups'' - like presets from multiple sources etc. Also N4 give additional DSP buffer size option (in addition to your DAW). N4 has it's own S/R conversion and it will run properly at 384kHz as well (for those demanding mastering sessions :-). Also 3rd party N4 libraries are indeed great. Tim Petherick in particular. Apparently N4 Acquas versions loaded inside of N4 will for all those reasons sound ''better'' than their Acqua counterparts. Haven't tested this myself but trust the source very much (mastering engineer). For those who are considering purchasing Acustica Audio's stuff. Please test the workflow properly before parting with the cash. Especially if you're on the Mac. There you might look at the Modula lite purchase to come to the rescue. Also on the PC, do your testing guys - first. As the plugins look great (and sound very nice for the most part) temptation to purchase is indeed very high, BUT stability can be an issue, also CPU tax has to be taken into account. I use them less and less in the sessions as they were not worth the trouble. I'm primarily on the Mac. Got the Windows PC server setup just to try to run those Acustica plugs I've got. So, installed some Acustica stuff on the brand new PC, and it isn't really a smooth sailing. N4 lost it's Repositories the very first day... still can get it to work. Just my two pennies

  18. These are the factory programs included with N4. Although some are these are nice I removed them all a few years ago. It's the official & unofficial ( AlexB, Cupwise, CDS, Tim Petherick) 3rd party programs that really shine. Also if you get or have N4 make sure you get the All You Can Eat ( AYCE) free nebula presets from Henry Olonga here: http://www.nebulapresets.com/?page_id=6602 There's many great programs included although it was released several years ago. Again in general Nebula provides better quality while Acquas have the better workflow.

  20. Yup... Indeed, thanks for this video reference Nice tune and excellent job... And also shows strong points for songwriters as Larry used audio to prepare bass track. I forget to add to our discussion few days later, I tested it with bass amp sims and sound can really be changed to many cool variations as we expected... After watching this video I feel again passion to play with it more and test also what @Grem predicted about provided midi loops and metal I wish I had vacation now...

  23. Any NI Battery 4 users here? It took me a while, but I managed to create drum maps for all the default kits. I found some text files a while back online, but didn't know how to convert them to maps. A few programs later and a lot of repetitive clicking, and voila. My gift to y'all. 24. Oh yes. There are some great new features such as ripple. Only downside is that there isn't a staged learning tool to get new and old users up to speed on all the new developments. I'm sure I'm missing out on a ton of stuff simply because there isn't a logical learning tool to take you through each new thing. Or maybe I just don't know where to find it...🤷‍♂️

  27. That is what they charge you the $300 for the plugin version for. From what I messed around with, seems like you would need to make some approximations then use this as an overlay in a NLE. Has its uses as a standalone but think the real play here is to get you hooked enough to fork out the cash. 🤣

  34. (Edited - DOH - I just reread the initial post for this thread, and just now caught that you wanted to get that info outside of CbB. Sorry. I will leave this, in case the info below helps someone else. I recall manually calculating that info based on whatever info I had available, but it was a pain, and ever since finding out that the info displayed at the bottom of the CbB Media Browser, that is now where I go for seeing that info). Well, there is a super simple way - in Cakewalk, make sure the Browser Pane is open, then click on the Media Browser tab, and navigate to the file you are trying to determine sample rate and bit depth for, and click on that file, and that information will be displayed at the bottom of the Media Browser window in the Browser Pane. Please note - when you click on an audio file in the Media Browser, it will autoplay and you might want to click on the square 'stop playback' button on the right side of the Media Browser window - I just blasted out a great guitar solo, because I had forgotten it starts playback (more like payback if I had clicked on a file of me singing). Anyways, here is a screen shot, showing the Media Browser, and down at the bottom, for the file I had clicked on, you see the sample rate and bit-depth for the audio file:

  37. Midi mode was set to MME. I tried changing it to UWP and it appears to fix the problem. I have closed and restarted Cakewalk several times with Midi mode set to UWP and the controller works every time. If I switch back to MME the controller the does not work if Cakewalk is started with it enabled. I have not done any other testing yet to see if there are any issues running in UWP mode. Thanks for the help

  40. I bet if the staff view were given as much attention as other aspects of the program, many musicians who abandoned Cakewalk would come right back. I did after spending 18 months with Digital Performer. Cakewalk is the most underrated DAW on the market, it is as powerful as any other DAW, ergonomically superior to the other DAWs I've worked with (Cubase, Reaper, DP, and a demo of Pro Tools) and makes complex operations easy and simply, but not so simple that precision and detail are sacrificed. Being in the education market, I would think the notation editor would be of supreme importance--regardless of how many musical styles don't depend upon or use notation, the fact is that it's going to be around for a long time and scoring to picture, classical music, complex arrangements and other styles of music are going to employ notation in one way or another. Sonar is also beautiful to look at; I've worked in Cakewalk since 1991 and still am excited to be looking at and working in the program. It's solid as a rock on Windows 10. I left Sonar because of the staff view, but after using DP, the staff view in Sonar has much that is more to my liking. I often write for lots of instruments and I write complex, long pieces. DP's editor is set up to imitate an 8.5x11 piece of music paper, which is fine for short works with few instruments. But Cakewalk's notation is more like an arranger's pad, it's much easier to scroll through pieces with hundreds of measures and I can see much more music in one screenful, horizontally speaking, and vertically, the number of staves I can see at once is larger than DPs (23 vs 18). And the event list--just having color coded MIDI events as Cakewalk does makes it so much easier to see what's going on. Tiny text and no color coding is really hard on the eyes... Jerry

  41. I got to double dip on this sale. Cheap ***** that I am, I picked up a used UAD-2 Solo card on Reverb with a nice little bundle of plugins for about $150 to stick my toe in the water. The card had the basic bundle of analog FX included: Real-Verb, Precision Mix rack collection and the Legacy Plugins (Pultec EQs, La2a, 1176 etc...). Today I used Capitol Chambers on a vocal track in demo mode to see if it was "All that"...and yeah...it is. I could tell immediately that it was something I would want to have available (although it pretty much needs to be run by itself on the solo card!). Remembering the sale is going on - I opted for the Pick 3 bundle (which gets you 4 plug ins). and went with Ocean Way AND Capitol Chambers, the newer Neve Preamp and Manley VoxBox. They gave me the sales price and there was another coupon code FINDYOURTREASURE that gave another $25.00 off. so the 4 new ones ran $374...and I just got an email with another $25.00 coupon.... Sooner or later, Ill find a great deal on a Octa card...but I am satisfied I got a great deal on these UA plugins.

  43. This is by design as this area is intended for use with MIDI hardware. The screen is disabled when no MIDI output devices are setup in CbB. It is possible to define alternate note name entries for the PRV Note Pane with a text editor. Open the master.ins in %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core in the text editor (may want to make a safety copy of master.ins before editing) Under .Note Names create a section called [AD Drums] (or whatever you want between the brackets) and add the MIDI note number=Drum Name pairs to appear instead of the keyboard in the PRV Then under .Instruments create a section using the same name (in this example [AD Drums] and add the following Patch=1..128 Key[*,*]=AD Drums Drum[*,*]=1 Save master.ins Now the new section should appear in the drop down in the PRV note names dialog. That said, the drum maps (I know you have already posted a request about them), track and project templates have already been built for AD2 and are available in the old Knowledge Base https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013364/Setting-up-a-Drum-Map-for-Addictive-Drums-2-in-SONAR If one creates the .Note Names section as a free standing ins file. There is a utility to convert it to a simple drum map. The utility may be found at http://dis.sesseler.de/ in the Cakewalk Sonar section.
