  1. Hey friends sorry for the delay , sunday is alwayz rock n roll here with kids .... spl iron versus sh ? Well as always it mainly depends on what you have already , spl iron has more vibe and more tones , shadow while precious about your material , is really printing by its personnaly the sound specially his ability to glue and even merge kick bass ect ... pretty unique ... i remeber prefering the iron versus green shadow witch is by the way more vibey than the red , but man the Red has a fuking class , pedigree .... So for mastering or to slap post mix : shadow hills winn to use during production or mixing : iron Now , notice several things: the shadow is cleaner (aliasing wise ) has a big interface and can do more compressionsince it has 2 compressors ... the spl iron : hard to make it sound bad in anybsetting ... less clean , gain stage a pain sinçe its 2db steps (we asked for a linear output ...wait and see) sio it can easily treak people during Conclusion : if younown vibey compressors and want sole for the master bus : shadow if you want something vibeyband and atvthe same time for your master bus , but don t mind some dirt ... : iron . I knkw it doesn thelp dat much , but it s all subjectif and based on my style /liking/ and finding .

  4. They fixed some of the Windows issues, so it's at least usable. But it still takes way too much memory, loads very, very slowly, unloads even slower. Yes that seems crazy but if you try to exit Cakewalk or close a project with a full set of BBCSO instruments full loaded it may take 5+ minutes to close. The sound isn't/never has been the problem, it sounds great and has very good articulations. The player however is at best two versions (at least 24 months of serious dev work, which it's not clear they are doing) behind being a $1k piece of software. The UI was designed more for style than function and really just doesn't get the job done either. The engine and it's features (or lack of them) is very weak. Unlike when it first shipped you can actually load a full template (if you have a lot of RAM and a large/fast SSD and are willing to wait a long time) and play it inside Cakewalk (or any DAW) without too many problems. I get the impression on Mac it's better, though it's not clear how much. At the end of the day a good full orchestra will cost, but this one at full price is double what it should be. The Spitfire reality distortion field is very strong though. Most people who spend $700-$999 (intro price to full) will avoid saying "Hey, this kind of sucks". But it does. You can use it and perhaps get good stuff out of it, but it's not very good in terms of price/value/quality.

  5. It’s now official. We will be creating our own Music Tribe DAW. This is a massive undertaking, which will take at least 18 months and for that purpose we have now assembled a large development team. Our Music Tribe DAW will also include samples and VST’s plus connections to third party VST’s. Our goal is to include the very best features available, including multiple user interfaces for both recording and DJ. We would love to develop this together with you and hence encourage you to share your preferred platforms and features so we can consider your input. Our opportunity is that we have no legacy platform to maintain, which will allow us to think “blue sky” and combine the “best of all worlds”. Best of all, the DAW will be FREE of charge! Our goal is to empower all musicians to record, mix, edit and publish their music. As always thank you so much for all your support and loyalty.

  13. Burning calories: pig starts farm fire by excreting pedometer Seventy-five square metres of farm near Leeds set alight after copper in pedometer battery reacted with dung and dry hay. Firefighters in North Yorkshire have tackled a blaze that broke out after a pig swallowed a pedometer which then combusted in its pen after excretion. The fire crews were called to a blaze covering 75 square metres at four pigpens in Bramham, near Leeds, on Saturday afternoon. The North Yorkshire fire and rescue service said the fire was caused by “nature taking its course” and copper from the pedometer battery reacting with dry hay and the pigpen’s contents. The pedometer was being used to prove the animal was free range and had been taken off one of its fellow pigs. No animals were harmed as a result of the fire. “Should be an oink not a tweet,” said the fire service on social media. “A hose reel was used to extinguish the fire and save the bacon.”

  16. Ozone goes on the master bus as the final element, where we can use its limiter and spectral/spacial enhancements (and monitoring tools). Iron/Shadow Hills can go before Ozone for glue/character... or at least that's how I see it. (yeah... I know... Ozone has it's own compressor modules too...)

  27. also some people saying they love it. Personally I wouldn't let that put you off. Any criticism I have are down to the GUI/interface which is fairly prehistoric. This is true of ALL the gforce stuff IMO. The sound is first rate (to my ears) and the price is pretty good too.

  31. To me rectifying diodes and corresponding capacitors are no mystery. Only one thing that really bugs me about labels - shouldn't microfarads be labeled with u, e.g., 1uF, 2uF, etc.? 1mF is perceived as 1 millifarad. Other than that, this compressor is the best I've heard in PA range. During the last sale I was on the fence of buying Elysia Alpha Comp, but came across this video and changed my mind.

  43. The MIDI spec allows for volume changes (CC 7) and expression (CC 11), but both of those affect everything on that channel not individual notes. So if you adjust volume for the snare, you'd be adjust the volume for everything else too. So although the short answer would be "no", it largely depends on the drum VST your using. There's a couple of routes you could take: 1. Split your drums out into separate channels/tracks: If each drum has its own track, you can adjust the volume (e.g. using automation) at various points when needed. You can route all of these tracks to their own bus so you've got overall control of drum volume using the bus fader. 2. Your drum VSTi may have some automation parameters allowing you to adjust the individual output level of each drum using an automation envelope. Note: Although I've mentioned using automation above, if you want to do everything in the PRV, most drum VSTi's can map automation to MIDI CC values, so you can use the CC lane in the PRV instead if you wish.
