  1. These posts make me wish the forum added a section where we could trade vsts and sample libraries. A lot of us here buy a lot of stuff, and find out some of it isn't a fit for us, but someone else may love it. If anyone knows how to make that happen, I think it'd be a great feature.

  4. Well, the drums just didn't fit, so I got rid of them. I've started generating images to go along with these releases using AI rather than searching the net and looking for other people's graphics. So far I am happy with the results. https://baselines.com/?p=6992 TIA for listening!

  8. What started as my keyboard/vocal cover has evolved into this full band reproduction of this classic song! Amazing additions by my friends over on Bandlab... Fabian Bono (@fabass2020) on bass, Ross Manariti (@ross_man) on guitar, and Craig Clontz (@craigclontz) on drums. I recorded my parts in Cakewalk, they posted their stuff through BandLab, and I brought it into CW to mix and master. Enjoy!

  9. A bit of a crossover between techno and trance. I decided to do the main melody line live so I could improvise a little. And by a little I mean everything. Luckily it came out well. Enjoy!

  16. Still waiting for the advantage of buying the initial lifetime.. they keep running sales, and not doing the Music 2 version. So a bit miffed about that.. but I guess that's what you get when you become an early adopter these days. Companies just don't seem to care as much about early customers, always just chasing the new purchasers with sales. I've learned to now not buy much of anything new... and just wait for the sales to come. Only a few vendors I trust and who seem to appreciate customers who purchase early, by never offering a lower price. https://www.indiginus.com https://insessionaudio.com Are two of them.

  17. My feeling exactly. Even if you buy a "Perpetual" license and buy an extra SSD so you can download every library, should the company later decide that it was a bad idea and shut down their server, you lose it all. Not only are the libraries gone, you'll never be able to rework (or finish) any project you've used them in. Still, there's an awful lot of high-grade content in there for 200 bucks. Most of those libraries cost more than that individually.

  18. I have the sub version. It's working out well for me with the regular addition of more titles and updates to the software. They have just addressed my biggest annoyance with the ability to down load an entire library with one click while still retaining the individual articulations download for those pressed for disk space.

  19. I'll try... EZXs are typically processed and cut down 'ready-to-use' versions of SDXs. If that's so with this one, you can make the corresponding SDX sound pretty much like the EZX. If it's not, you should find you can get some way there depending on which SDXs you have. By using the SDX versions, you force yourself to learn to process drums, as well as being able to be more flexible with the outcome; in both cases, you become a better audio engineer. (not sure if it worked, but I tried...)

  20. I rarely use presets for VST's (vs VSTi's), but if I do have a particular one I like, I save it inside an FX chain. If you hold SHIFT when dragging from the browser to the FX bin, it automatically removes it from the FX chain with all the settings intact.

  25. We could always do a Reddit or, if enough people are interested, I've always contemplated starting a forum that was much like this one, but where developers were more involved and users could get their attention to have a good channel of feedback, but without the kind of developer-centric, money driven approach of VI-CONTROL, the inherent bias of having a developer against competitors and with strong policy and enforcement against shilling, bullying, trolling, political, and discriminatory posts. I've ran several forums over the decades, but they were all tied to business. I am here out of my love for music, so I'd love to do it. I've talked to several developers over the years who said they'd participate if I did it. The greatest challenge would be building the traffic, the users. I know I'd want cclarry there -- Larry is what made this sub forum what it is. Anyhow, it would be a hobby project for me. But considering that digital has been my living since the 90s, I think I can create something better for musicians than what exists. But I'll only do it if a bunch of people are on board, and we'll need moderators too.

  31. https://feelyoursound.com/chilloutengine/ Changes in ChilloutEngine v2.0.0 New: Package Browser. ChilloutEngine 2 ships with 13 different packages now (e.g. “Heavenly Arps”, “Ethereal Keys”, “Smooth Basslines”,
). Use the package browser to explore the different packages and switch between them. New: Favorite markers. Each preset has a star-shaped “Favorite” marker now. It is located to the left of the MIDI drag-and-drop field. Use the “Show favorite” tag in the preset browser to display your favorites only. New: Preset type display. Hover with the mouse over the icon below the “Favorite star” of a preset to see the preset type. “Fixed playing style” reproduces a certain playing style, “Generative” can sound completely different for different chord progressions. New: Generate a chord progression for a specific scale. Click on “Generate chord progression” in the start view, then pick a scale and a generator algorithm. New: 10 additional “arpeggio layered” presets. New: 22 “evergreen keys” presets. UX: Alternative way for preset switching: Click on a MIDI preview to change the preset. UX: When you do a search or a reset, the Engine will jump to the currently active preset if possible. UX: Crisper UI when working with higher DPI settings. Removed: Pentatonic scales have been removed from the chord progression scale choice menu (only for new songs). Reason: Too many generator presets require a “full” scale. Bugfix: Now ALL chord progression generators will work for Major as well. Bugfix: Sometimes the currently playing chord wasn’t displayed properly in Edit Chords View. ChilloutEngine contains 520 generative presets for all occasions now. ChilloutEngine for Windows and Mac (VST/VST3 and AU) is available in Standard and Pro versions. The Pro version contains a MIDI mass-exporter that makes it easy to create hundreds of files within seconds. When you buy the Standard version, you can use all generated phrases and melodies in your own productions (both commercial and free releases). A Pro license is required if you want to sell the generated MIDI packs to other musicians. In all other aspects, the two versions are the same. A free update for all customers, ChilloutEngine Standard is 20% off with code CE2Std at the checkout (regular $52 USD / 49 EUR), while the Pro version is 50% off with code CE2Pro (regular $416 USD / 392 EUR). The offer expires May 26th, 2024. A free demo version is available to try the plugin.

  34. ^ He beat me to it. Just downloading a MIDI file and opening it in Cakewalk by Bandlab (CbB) won't necessarily let you hear the MIDI file. You need to also load a synthesizer in CbB and set the MIDI file to play through that synth. There are several ways to do that. Then the synth must be set to play through your <audio device> whatever that may be. These are the most basic of questions regarding MIDI. Check out the Tutorials forum here for some excellent reading material from our fellow Cakewalkers about how to do it. Welcome to the forum.

  35. agreed. but a couple of them i use and they're excellent virtual representations of older synths that even a few of my other paid products cannot quite get "the sound". anyways, it's a non-issue for me either way... 🙂 it's there, it behaves well, so i leave it. the realtek stuff otoh... oo la la...

  37. @jude77 Just think, for two whole weeks we can create deal threads without finding out Larry already posted about the same deal already! But two weeks-- I seriously doubt Fleer can go that long without creating a thread about how much he misses Larry and before you know it, we'll all be joining in! Oh well, I suppose for the next couple weeks I'll start some deal threads too (and hopefully won't find that Larry already posted them before he left!).

  40. Barry , I Love your vocals on this! They're nice , clear and have a lot of impact . Nothing is being lost on the trailing end of the phrases. I Think the sense of space in them is Perfect , and I loved the add lib parts late in the song. Great guitar playing and mix! I really liked the suttle differences between the left and right tracks, and the tone and capture of both of them. String squeeks either work or they don't .. They were a little excessive , but I wouldn't edit them out. They worked for me. Probabably a minor EQ cut where they live would tame them a little. Bass didn't work for me. I think a Lot more bottom end would work better. I'm looking forward to hear what you do this weekend. My first thoughts, (before reading any comments).. was the when the drums came in, they were accidentily sitting in the wrong spot in the timeline. They are definetely dragging and pulling the energy out. I'm sure you will find an easy fix. I'd just try to line the snare up with one of your consistant other tracks that are driving the beat. Fantastic song , and I Loved the tonal quality of the guitars and Vox. Enjoyed it .. mark

  46. My mother was a classically-trained pianist, and could sight read. My friends were astounded that she could play Zep's Rain Song. She could even knock out a decent boogie-woogie if she had the dots, but improvise? Not a note! Knowing theory never hindered Frank Zappa's creativity though.

  47. That is totally dependent on the VSTi plugin, it has nothing to do with the DAW. Some plugins can be resaved in their initial state with an instrument/preset initiated, but a smarter way to do it in CbB is to save an instrument track with a VSTi loaded into it as a track template and load it instead.
