  3. They've had these for awhile, but I don't remember the Flash one. (Transient shaper/clipper) Get 'em here: https://www.wavesfactory.com/free-vst-plugins/ They're also having a nominal 25% sale until Mar 10. PS. Track Spacer is awesome.

  4. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Some would maintain the current version is already great in its current state, especially with the majority of the kinks worked out. If the existing feature set has what you want and it sound good to you, then $44.10 is a darn good deal. It is not like it is a thousand dollar investment on which you are basing your career. For me it was worth a punt and I am glad I did.

  8. MCharacter is the most-used "unique" plugin that I own. It performs best on monophonic, dry material before sending things into a follow up FX chain and is very useful for tweaking the timbre at the source. About the 1:40 mark in the teaser video is a good explanation of what it does. I am still disappointed that what is done with the guitar at the 3:30 mark doesn't have an explanation... that uses multiparameters, which are embedded into most of Melda's plugins... they are quite powerful and what distinguishes Melda plugins from others, but they really need another video series explaining them (the existing series is rather lackluster to watch).

  9. If you want to start using Sonar right away, backstage pass (which includes both Sonar, Next as well as other bandlab perks) is the only available option right now. There are plans for other purchase options but there isn't a known timeline just yet. Today you can get it monthly or get an annual BSP license upfront which is cheaper.

  10. Actually the current version of BFD3 is pretty solid. I think most of the issues have been ironed out. I have not had any issues with it, and it seems that it is still being maintained.

  12. The release notes: February 28, 2024 2024.02 What's New UI refresh Sonar has been completely refeshed with a clean new UI. The UI refresh is an ongoing effort and will continue to be updated in future releases. New dark and light color schemes Sonar includes several color themes, including Dark, Dark Gray, Light, Light Gray, Tungsten, Mercury, and Cosmic. Additional color themes will be added in the future. Support for enhanced display scaling Improves rendering and reduces blurriness, particularly for font rendering. Enhanced display scaling may sharpen graphics and make text easier to read. Improvements will be most noticeable when using large, high resolution displays (such as 4K) and with Windows display scaling set higher than 100%. Per plugin enhanced display scaling for VST plugins. New Quick Start screen Open a recent project, open an existing project, create a new project from a template, download and open demo projects, preview projects, update the app. Project preview Preview projects from the Quick Start screen’s Local Projects page if you have exported a designated preview file. Configuration backup/restore Save and load backups of your Sonar configuration settings. Cakewalk Interchange Format (CXF) The Cakewalk Interchange Format (CXF) is a Cakewalk cross platform inter-app project file format, used to exchange projects between Sonar and Next. CXF files exported from either application can be opened or imported in both apps. CXF is a transitory format only used for exchange. It is not intended for archival storage or backing up since the format can change at any time. Cakewalk ZIP Format (CWZ) The new Cakewalk ZIP (.cwz) file format is intended for backing up projects, and is also useful for moving Sonar projects from one computer to another. Cakewalk ZIP is recommended over the older Cakewalk Bundle (CWB/BUN) format, because it does not compact the audio data, and therefore supports AudioSnap clips. Track Manager enhancements The Track Manager lets you configure which tracks are visible in the Track view and Console view, and you can create per-project presets to quickly show specific sets of tracks. Per-track spectrum analyzer display in the Console view and Inspector. ProChannel Concrete Limiter module ProChannel Concrete Limiter is a transparent look-ahead brickwall peak limiter. It is designed to reduce peak levels without coloring the sound. VX-64 Vocal Strip VX-64 Vocal Strip is a multi-functional plugin that combines a series of effects specifically optimized and streamlined for vocal processing. Combining compression, expansion, equalization, de-essing, doubling, delay and tube saturation in one convenient plug-in, VX-64 Vocal Strip is designed to make it fast an easy to enhance any vocal track. Project Start and End markers The Project Start and Project End markers define the playback range and the export range when exporting the entire project, and can also be used as Snap to Grid landmarks. Automation smoothing when recording Automation smoothing now also applies to recording automation in real-time. Specify the default automation curve type for drawing automation envelopes Offset mode enhancements To make it easier to visualize if a track parameter has an offset applied, Sonar shows the parameter value in an amber color when Offset mode is not active, and the parameter tooltip shows the offset value. In-app hang detection Sonar can now detect hangs and save a minidump file, which allows you to easily submit minidump files to Cakewalk support for analysis. Optimization for Intel processors Improvements to reduce CPU load when streaming silence with certain plug-ins that generate denormals. Double-click to expand/collapse docked windows (MultiDock, Inspector, and Browser) Toast notification when a control surface is disabled on launch Sonar now shows a notification if you start the app while a control surface is disconnected. External Insert ports now persist in track templates Audio port assignments for the External Insert plug-in are now persisted in track templates. Assignable key bindings to quickly show/hide tracks in the Track view and Console view Create sends by dragging effects to channel strips (audio track, instrument track, aux track, or bus) Additional snap landmarks New Snap to Grid landmarks include Arranger Section Start Time, Arranger Section End Time, Project Start Marker, and Project End Marker. Create tracks routed to aux tracks or patch points The Add Track menu now allows you to create tracks that are routed to a new aux track or patch point. Deleting a tempo in the Tempo Inspector sets the focus to the next tempo in the list Press F2 to rename markers in the Markers view The meter scale for Instrument tracks changes from a MIDI scale (vertical piano keys) to an audio dB scale when the track is frozen Remove all crossfades in the current selection with the new Track view Clips > Remove Selected Crossfades command Ability to select all tracks/buses in a control group The new Select Tracks/Buses in Group menu command on the control group context menu makes it easy to automatically select all tracks and buses that have controls that are a member of the current control’s group. Once selected, use quick grouping to adjust all tracks simultensously. Clicking Sonar logo in Control Bar opens Quick Start Screen Preview Bus is now a project-wide setting Preview Bus and Synth output assignment is now applied across the entire project rather than per view. Preview bus assignment can now be managed directly from the bus/mains/aux track context menus or directly from the main Project menu. An aux track can now be designated as a preview bus. Report bugs via the in-app Help > Report a Problem menu command Specify default synth for use in Add Track flyout menu Set via synth track context menu or Synth Rack menu. Quicker access to plugin settings The plugin toolbar now has a Settings menu button that provides direct access to Enhanced DPI scaling and plugin upsampling settings. Friendly names for plugins (set in the Browser) are now displayed in FX racks Note: This will apply to new instances of the plugin. Existing ones will still show the actual plugin name. New instances will show the friendly name. Track Scale Zoom is now quick-groupable You can now zoom the waveform or MIDI notes in all selected tracks by holding down the CTRL key and dragging up/down in the track scale. New plugins coming soon - to be announced. Cakewalk Product Center Cakewalk Product Center allows you to download and install Cakewalk products from one central location. Simply sign in with your BandLab ID and password and begin installing your connected products. Stay up to date with the latest features and fixes.

  19. Non drummer here, so please take my comments as maybe uneducated and with a grain of salt. My goal is to pull a beat I think works with a song idea period. I would prefer a set of beats that sound uber realistic and have built in fillers that sound like a real drummer. Most of the drums in my mixes are simple and probably not to the liking of an experienced drummer. I still think BFD has probably one of the best collection of drums in the industry and they were ahead of their time when it came out, so for me, other than the VST2 thing I would pull it in a heart beat if it had something I liked. That's the other thing with this. Some of these drum programs are released with barely anything decent while others are released with plenty. The idea being that, yes you bought the software but you also need this and this and this to really have something you can use. They are all pretty much like that now and since it's hard to test 500 drum paks, it's nice to have like a good starter set. I believe BFD 3 has that. When I bought it paying much more, I intended it to be my only drum program ever. It did stand up to that expectation for a long time for the most part. When InMusic bought them it was underwhelming for me. And no one told me. I just tried to launch it and got a " this thing won't work" screen. Then I realized it needs to dial into a server blah blah blah. I have used it since, but man what a pain to always wonder if I need to once again connect with their server. That's really been my only hang up. I honestly wondered if they were going to hang around after that. I didn't want to come back to a mix a year later and not have working drums. If I was a real drummer I would have figured out how to build realistic tracks from scratch using maybe just the samples in Sampletank. I have way to many drum programs at this point, and almost dread looking through all of them to find something, so for awhile there I just settled on AD2 and it worked well. I tried EZD new version and like it so far, so maybe it's my new main drum program. I had issue in trying to match a track to drums using the AI in it, but my tempos tend to be different sometimes.

  27. I assume that's for the Standard version? That's crazy. The upgrade for Suite is 159€ though Standard users actually get more new stuff than Suite users. Standard users get four new instruments, Suite users get two new instruments. Standard users get seven new packs, Suite users get four new packs. Standard users get one new effect, Suite users get one new effect. The upgrade for Suite users should be cheaper than for Standard users.

  29. TTS-1 has been removed... it's just that Sonar will default to TTS-1 if it's already installed. Sonar has the option to choose a default synth, so it will be the one shown in the Add Track HUD dialog on new sessions. Until you set a default synth , TTS-1 will be chosen if installed, or a MIDI only track if not.

  31. Just installed it and posted around for a couple of minutes. Installations went smooth. Now to dive into the new browser, download the new packs and see how all the MIDI changes are working for me. In theory, or from what I saw, it should be really awesome for what I do so I'm pretty excited.

  32. SmartEQ has extra functionality yes, but its also functions as an EQ with autogain, band soloing, and multiple filter shapes / dynamic ability. Trying to figure out if Claro offers anything unique or any reason why one would choose it over SmartEQ in a mix? Unsure why this constituted a "strange post" reply, but then I'm a strange guy! But I do appreciate your insight, especially in regards to sonnox pricing and products potentially becoming abandonware. Good things to consider.

  39. That's exactly the way it worked initially. I didn't have to select anything on the export screen. Just export the audio and bam, there was it. Beautiful. But then I added a second arrangement it's all messed up now.

  40. Not sure if you are still having these issues? Try "Running as administrator" ... BitBridge on my PC needs Admin permission... Also, it appears that perhaps Plugin Manager was running outside of SONAR X3,... If it is launched directly from PluginManager.exe it will look exactly like your screen shot... Perhaps Plugin Manager also needs Admin permission inside of SONAR X3 for you...

  41. Not a deal at all. You can currently get this from pluginboutique for $119 if you own any Air Instrument (who doesn't) and it has been as cheap as $75. Everything in the pack is ancient and no longer developed or supported. I don't think I would pay $75 for it now. I do own it but it mostly just takes up space on my hard drive.

  42. They've had it at this price in the past, even a little lower. It's been on version three for more than ten years, most of them with major bug problems for the software. I bought BFD Eco when it was fairly new and never upgraded to BFD full -- and the upgrade price is $49 US -- because of all of the problems reported with it and acknowledged by the development team -- PLUS the fact that 10+ years without a major update is kind of a red flag. I'd love to see them release a really good BFD4, and I might consider that if it were cheap. But given their history of issues and neglect of their software lines, I still might not buy it.

  44. That OP is a pretty comprehensive list worthy of being a reference guide! The only one I didn't see explicitly, although would be covered with services, is disabling "Automatic network discovery." For folks who do work staying connected, that is often the biggest latency hitter as it pings every 4 seconds or so. You really don't want your computer trying to connect with "everything in range" on its own anyway; that should be a very deliberate pairing for simple security reasons.

  45. Some good (and scary ones) in this video. I ran a couple of these, especially the NVIDIA Debloat and driver slimming suggestions, along with the DYNAMIC TICK suggestion. Honestly though, my biggest update was finally being able to add an RME Babyface Pro FS to my setup, it has been an absolute dream for me here. My past livestreams have been rock solid and I am able to run everything at 128 buffers which nets me around 2.7 ms roundtrip latency. It has been such an eye and ear opening experience with this and now I know first hand what everyone has been talking about all of these years. Here is what my latest Latency Mon is looking like:
