  1. Yeah AFIK Ableton was vector from the get go. Most modern application use SVG vector graphics for art or a hybrid approach when bitmaps are really needed. In CbB all graphical elements are bitmaps including simple things like buttons. In such cases, the downside with bitmaps are they are much bigger than equivalent vectors leading to slower load time and memory bloat. Additionally applications that run at high DPI have to store multiple resolutions of the bitmaps to avoid leading to even more bloat. Otherwise you get major aliasing and fuzziness as seen in CbB when you run on high def displays. In Sonar almost all resouces are now vectors and very fast to draw since they are typically simple button graphics.

  2. I'm running sonar on a 10 year old pc with a very average graphics card and I don't see any performance degradation compared to cbb. The graphics look vastly cleaner rendered as svgs compared to bitmaps (no aliasing) and text looks much sharper too. This is especially evident if you are running at higher dpi resolutions like 2k or 4k. We have been paying attention to performance and have not seen any hit so far. In fact we've made other optimizations to rendering. Btw for those thinking they can’t upgrade without new hardware, my old almost 10 year old DAW PC is running with no issues on win 11 even though there's no TPM chip add the CPU is out of spec. There are ways to get windows 11 installed on older hardware

  3. We ALL paid Henry! Any complaint you have is with Henry! BandLab owes you nothing, NOT A GAWD DAM THING! GET OVER IT! Install the new update, evidently it takes care of the annoying “pop up”, and soldier on. IF you are not a CbB user then stay the *F* out of the threads about CbB! t

  5. So we actually see some action that I hope will get this forum back on a positive pathway instead of all the negativity and threatening to switch DAW nonsense lately. The new Cakewalk Product Centre will finally solve a few ongoing issues like offline activation as well as I can see that in the future it will be our go to for updates and future purchases. It would be very very cool if they also add our legacy products here as well! @Jesse Jost ? @Noel Borthwick? I like it. And did any of you recent Nay Sayers notice the release notes for the CbB update. I counted over 50 Bug fixes! They most certainly did not have to do any of this but they did, proving once again that the developer team really does care and listen. OK everybody back to work and please relax and let them finish Sonar in peace and quiet. If it takes another 6 - 12 months that's fine by me.

  6. Not on the official website yet, but a lot of official threads were opened on KVR: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8850307#p8850307 Beta download, draft manual and introduction video included. It's unbelievable this little gem will be completely free of charge.

  8. We're working on a 3d visualization Craig Anderton version. When you are tired of mixing you can zone out watching your faders move in 3d on a virtual mixing board and your waveforms flying around the screen

  9. I had a hard time choosing between AD and EZ but went with EZ3. I really like it, it is quite easy to make a track super quick and very easy to edit the play to what I want, I usually change the kick pattern to suit.

  10. I love Evolution Texas Twang and use it a lot. I think because of its name, it can easily, and wrongly, be pigeon holed. It's a Telecaster. It's great for rock, blues, R&B...

  16. MBitFunMB is a serious tool for extreme distortion lovers. It converts incoming audio into limited fixed-point precision of 1-16 bits per sample and lets you access each bit with several operations and finishes the processing with a low-pass filter. All with up to 6 independent bands, 4 modulators... from light distortion to extreme brutality. Now on sale at 75% off (reg. $53) now just $13.30 USD. Limited time only. https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/mbitfunmb

  18. This is an interesting aspect that you bring up, Noel. But to be fair, the tables were somewhat reversed when CbB was introduced: many users expressed a lot of concern about the "free" product on these (and other) forums. They wondered how on earth that was possible, and what the catch was. (And to be a bit philosophical, what really was the catch? Is it the discussion of an expiring CbB that we're seeing now?) It wasn't maybe explicitly stated, but from my memory I would say that it was heavily implied, several times. Maybe not intentionally? Or maybe we users read stuff you didn't say into what you said? Anyway, as you mentioned in another reply, a permanent CbB version for those who aren't interested or maybe invested in following along the new Sonar path would definitely "feel good in the belly". That said, I myself am looking forward to the new Sonar!

  21. Type "Services" into the Windows search bar and open that app. You can maximize that window that pops up if too small. Sort the services by name (click on the top of the first column to sort), and scroll down to "PreSonus Hardware Access Service." If you right click that you can stop it there. Also, that should be set to "Manual" for Startup Type so that it only opens when you start the Universal Control. If that is set to "Automatic," right click that, select "Properties" and set Startup Type to "Manual" in the center of that window. A lot of Windows services default to "automatic" which is unnecessary if not in use.

  24. Either closing the app in the task bar (right click -> Quit) or hitting CTRL-Q with the Universal Control window open and active will exit the app. It does not stay resident in memory. Once closed you should be able uninstall/re-install per the above.

  28. I believe that the development team would not have put forward switching to a vector based GUI when they are not absolutely certain about it. Did you know that Ableton is using vector graphics as well?

  29. I think the biggest hurdle for me personally when getting acclimated to Take Lanes was paying attention to the cursor as I was moving around clips. The smart cursor has several actions embedded into it, so zooming in a smidge while learning controls made it much simpler. Pay attention to where you are hovering and what the cursor looks like before taking "action" on clips. Once you force yourself to work through it a few times, it does become a very fast method to work with takes.

  30. The quickest way would be to rebalance your tracks to -9dB going into your Master Bus. The best way would be to rebalance your tracks to -9dB going into your Master Bus. Gain staging seems to be the issue here. Theres also your Pan Laws and the matching levels of all your plugins to the ones on your faders. Your Dynamics could be all over the place, peaks could be hitting the ceiling of some tracks, compression could be off. Amps could be screaming too. All this contributes to an out of balance track.

  36. SMS is actually known as 2SV (two-step verification) which is not the same as 2FA (two factor authentication) which is much more secure, because it uses an app or token, unlike a text message which is easily spoofed. Once you get used to it, 2FA via an app is a breeze but do you really need it for a service like SoundCloud? Debatable. Depends how serious you are about your content I guess, but if the platform has enforced it there isn't much you can do apart from go elsewhere. Should be a given for all financial sites though. Andy

  37. I wouldn't think so... I've looked deeply into creating imprinting into audio files that isn't audible to the human ear and found that to be extremely difficult when getting into the CD quality 44.1k 16 bit formats. Anything that compresses or converts like mp3 will completely mess with the signature. I couldn't wrap my brain around a way to do it without creating your own audio format. Edit: it would be much easier to stuff a song into a BMP file than to stuff a BMP file into a song and it still be usable.

  39. Rex , I love the early 80s vibe this one has especially in the intro. It puts me in mind of great bands like Tears for Fears. As usual .. Fantastic vocals ! As far as adding anything .. I was wanting to here some vocal shadowing after about halfway thru the song on the choruses. LOVE .. (love) IS .. (is) A WONDER .. (wonder). I think it would build the choruses up more as the song progresses. I thought it was also crying out for a lead guitar break @2:55 on top of the present guitar tracks. I Really enjoyed this .. mark

  40. It refers to using it in the short term. Cbb will be available for some time to give users time to transition to Sonar which will be the only product supported going forward. I think we've all learned that lifetime messaging can be ambiguous right? 😉 The bigger question to me is why anyone serious about using our products want to use an old unsupported product, when a much better (and affordable) version is made available. If you want to see this product developed further, it's only fair that we ask for you to support us in turn. I don't think anyone expected that cbb would be indefinitely free forever. In the future there may be a free version (with some limitations) however.

  41. This is probably the preferred method to use anytime an FX isn't included in the instrument itself. Melda Production has a number of FX in their free MFreeFXBundle (with both a vibrato and tremolo). Depending on your application, another thing to consider with track FX are ones that are able to sync to the DAW tempo so they will musically fit the piece.
