  1. Not on the official website yet, but a lot of official threads were opened on KVR: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=8850307#p8850307 Beta download, draft manual and introduction video included. It's unbelievable this little gem will be completely free of charge.

  4. A quick test for those wanting to use export MIDI to use in IK Hammond B-3X I selected MIDI in EZ Keys that used both upper and lower manuals. When the MIDI is dragged into Studio One two tracks are created, one for each manual. This can then be routed to the corresponding manuals in B3-X. Both Leslie speed and expression CC 11 are transferred to the upper manual track. Leslie speed is via the modulation controller and works well unless there is a Leslie break. Brake is midway value on the modulation cc from Session Organ which B3-X does not recognise. Theoretically you would need to manually insert CC93 value to brake the Leslie on BX-3 but I have not managed to make that work yet, probably user error. I does not appear that any other continuous controller data is generated by EZ keys. There are preset keys in Session Organ (the black keys on the lowest octave) I have not tested if these are transferred in the MIDI but in any case to work properly it would need the drawbar presets to be setup identically in both instruments. In conclusion the data from Session Organ will be usable in B3-X with some minor edits.

  5. I had been looking at this product because even though I'm a guitarist I can't quite pull off those very fast math metal runs. I can somewhat but not like the pros. I never bought it because well, 299.00 Went to Amazon and found it for 149.00 from a Japanese vendor. Emailed Prominy to validate the link and the vendor. Long story short , Prominy said that due to a strong dollar against a weak yen, the price and the item was legit. I had to pay an additional 18.00 for what basically amounts to an empty box with a number in it. Still a good deal on this. There were 4 four left when I ordered, so now it's three. Just sayin' About 21 gigs, but I don't think there is another program out there that emulated those tunings and guitars the way this does. It's a Jackson they sampled. The same Jackson all the metal guys play.

  6. We have just released an update for all FabFilter plug-ins with bug fixes for CLAP, and support for automatic migration of VST2 plug-ins to VST3: this enables Cubase 13 on Apple Silicon computers to load existing sessions with VST2 plug-in instances, replacing them with VST3. Note that this is a relatively new feature in VST3 and not all hosts support it. This update is free for existing customers and we recommend everyone to update to these latest plug-in versions. See the release notes for a full list of changes. https://www.fabfilter.com/download

  7. I'm only suggesting to pull down the Master bus gain, and since he's remixing, it's assumed he will adjust any Mastering plug-ins (probably not even in place, yet) accordingly. Nothing else in the project should be affected.

  8. Actually, it's the opposite. Volume control has been the key to landing repeat gigs - bartenders and servers love us for that. We can get loud when necessary, e.g. outdoor stages, but it's all in the mains. With every instrument running direct through the PA, I literally have a master volume control for the whole band. But what we hear on stage is consistently low-volume, the same volume we rehearse at. Electronic drums are what makes it all possible. The seeming overkill of using QSCs for monitoring is actually so that we hear a clean, full-spectrum representation of what's going out to the crowd. Of course, my carefully-engineered scheme falls apart whenever we play venues that provide the PA and monitors. That, unfortunately, accounts for about 50% of our gigs. Those can be quite uncomfortable, especially when some tone-deaf FoH guy assumes 120dBSPL is just about right for a 200-cap room.

  13. A Press Desk article at KVR says this: I have no idea of the validity of this; I'm just posting it because I was curious after seeing the posts here. JMO: I think it is in manufacturers' and consumers' interest to be transparent about details like this.

  15. We've added a new feature to the new Sonar that will allow you to create Articulations that delay notes either positively or negatively ( +/- 1000 ) in either ms or ticks. You can also decide whether to include a note's end time in the delay, or retain its original end time. Using articulations rather than a track-wide setting allows you much greater flexibility. For example, orchestral strings with a slow attack playing legato could have a negative delay on the start time but when you switch to pizzicato, there is no delay. You could even have different delay times for different octaves if required. For simpler cases where you want everything on the track delayed, just draw the articulation over the whole track duration.

  16. Larry, Sorry for the very late post on this. Before seeing this thread, 2 weeks ago I decide to install SONAR 8 with the works this time using all 4 discs. I got Guitar Rig 3 installed and activated on SONAR, but it was a convoluted process. This is on Windows 10 64-bit. BTW, when you first launch Guitar Rig, it will show as Guitar Rig 3 Demo, Buy, Activate. When activated, it will become Guitar Rig 3 LE. You cannot active via NI Service Centre now. NI shut that down in 2020. You have to download and install Native Access. In my SONAR box is the Guitar Rig 3, 25-digit serial number. Also found in the box, is the Guitar Rig 3, 9-digit password for Native Instruments. You must have both. If you have not got the password, you can message Native Instruments for help. I could not get the latest Native Access to recognise my install of Guitar Rig 3. I had to used Native Access 1.14.1 https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000407909-Native-Access-Legacy-Installers-for-Older-Operating-Systems Guitar Rig 3.2.1 Win Update fixed activation problems on 64-bit systems I had to download and install Guitar Rig 3.2.1 Win Update to fix it. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/support/downloads/update-manager/?q=Guitar+Rig+3&t=updates Type guitar rig 3 in search for products. Here is the list of legacy products that can still be activated in Native Access. Guitar Rig 3 can be activated. https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006053397-Service-Center-and-Legacy-Products-End-of-Life Hope this helps.

  17. It’s interesting that you ask. I’m just investigating how I can use subtitles in my tutorials. Then those would be available in all languages. Cakewalk is a very global community and I can tell by the names of my subscribers how global it truly is. Edit. Updated Jan 30 I just found out last night how to add the subtitles to existing videos. It’s actually very easy. It will be a huge project to get it all done. I will be definitely add subtitles to all new releases. I am also publishing the transcripts of my narrative here. Yet another winter project. I’ll never get anything else one! https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/cakewalk-tutorials

  18. For those of us with multiple monitors, I found this great AutoHotkey script. I often have multiple windows, plugins, etc. open on the monitors. When I want to work on a plugin, etc. I often prefer it on the main monitor, so I would drag it to the main monitor, then drag it back when done. Kind of tedious. This little script will center the active window on the main monitor (Alt+q), then Alt+w will move it back to its original position. So now I just have to click on the Window I want to work on, press Alt+q, then press Alt+w when done to put it back where it was. Great timesaver for me. Note: You can specify any key combinations you prefer - just be careful that you don't use something already reserved for Cakewalk, Windows, etc. Center active window and move back.ahk

  22. Bear in mind that you can quick group tracks and/or buses and lower the volume of all with one stroke. Depending on your levels, one way to go is Quick Group and lower all the tracks involved. If the tracks have acceptable levels, then I would do the quick grouping at the bus level. I do both all the time. I never touch the Main Output.

  23. Thanks mettelus, I ordered it today and should have it in a week. There was a very similar model with a slightly better review rating I got. I don't expect too much but if it's serviceable on the road trips to get ideas down that will be okay. I've been using a silly cheap roll-up MIDI keyboard that I got for my kids which is a bit of a joke. Maybe this one will make some new fun chirps for the kids too. The built in Cakewalk PC keyboard piano is actually more useful, but very limited of course.

  25. Yes, that will be fine. Gain-staging purists will undoubtedly object, but I've done null tests with a 50 duplicates of a track summing to massive virtual clipping and been able to get a perfect null against a single inverted track by pulling down the bus gain by the exact amount need to offset the summing.

  26. Long time users of Sound Forge and Acid might remember Sonic Foundry. Facing financial issues, the company sold music-making tools Sound Forge and Acid (as well as Vegas) to SONY and did a 10-to-1 reverse split. As many people today know, Magix acquired Sound Forge, Acid, and Vegas. Meanwhile, SOFO used the money from the sale to develop its video capture system business, MediaSite . Recently, SOFO shareholders approved the sale of MediaSite to Enghouse. I am not a lawyer or a corporate accountant and do not hold an MBA, but so far as I can tell for all practical purposes after bills are paid and management gets its severance pay, what was once SonicFoundry has nothing left to sell off. I could be wrong, but I don't see anything that says shareholders of publicly purchased shares of SOFO will get anything, making this deal even worse than the 10 cents per share Corel shareholders held when Corel went private (i.e., "sold" to venture capitalists, IIRC). Nonetheless, fans of Acid, Sound Forge, and Vegas IMO should appreciate the company that was once Sonic Foundry for the role it played in developing some special software that in some ways laid the foundation for other companies to make tools for music makers.

  27. Even better, get one of the thumb drives that all us IT consulting geeks have! All you do is go into the BIOS during bootup, select boot from USB, insert the thumb drive and... once it boots up you can wipe out the Admin password (plus other stuff!). I've used mine a few times when a customer fires an employee but can't get into their password-protected computer or laptop. Definitely better than having to reinstall Windows! I'll have to find mine and get the brand. In the meantime, I'll try to remember where I bought it!

  28. Yep Sound Forge was an essential part of the early computer audio era. I streamed a lot of events with their Mediasite streaming appliance, too. I needed tech support one time and called the number and a guy in Wisconsin answered and helped me out. Good stuff.

  31. I often open old projects and they make me realize how far I’ve progressed in my workflow. Mostly I see that I used split instruments which now annoys me and all the plug ins are outdated and nothings close to what I use now. No problem , midi is midi and audio is audio so it’s really a matter of either using the replace features available for effects and instruments to update the projects. Or as @mettelus said I often use track templates to rebuild. Track templates will also add all the sub buses and effects you now prefer. Then you drag the midi and audio from the frumpy old tracks to the spiffy new tracks. Just delete the empty tracks. The other thing I need to do is convert them from 44.1 to 48. That’s why I made a video about that.

  32. I agree. These days I don’t buy any plugin unless it’s something totally different from what I already have. I’ve been playing through the presets now for a while and I find Aurora to be really inspiring, although I tend to turn off Textures for most of them. As for the crossgrade price, I bought Aurora for €39. I do have the UVI Keysuite Bundle, so that might be it.

  44. @Noel Borthwick I am running 29.09.0.075. I am very aware that it is common for free apps that have an upgrade path to display such messaging. However, I am also aware that such messages will either stop displaying after so many times or will have the ability to turn them off. As I stated, unless we have all been hiding under a rock we are all aware that CbB will be transitioning to a paid product. With that said, it has also been my understanding that the last final updated version 29.09.0.075 would keep running without further updates...
