  1. Next is out and in BETA mode and for the past 24hrs I have been testing and creating some tracks. So far i am liking the look and feel. What i am most impressed with it, is the fact that it handles live performances ten times better than CbB. I was jamming with it, did some DJ work with it and for two hours straight it held its own on major projects. That is a huge positive side to it - really impressed! It took me 5mins to figure out its workflow. I love the new Sampler and Xsampler features. Great new stock plugins. Everything is so straight forward, but there are some downsides, drawbacks, cons (what ever you want to call it) to some features that can be improved. Such as the Track Pane that is not Scalable. It crops the window/pane instead of resizing the plugins and effects on it to smaller. The height is perfect though. Also theirs NO console? Perhaps I have missed this one, but I couldnt find it. Arranger Pane is there for those who use it. I wont use it as a main DAW though, but for mobility use like writting demos or features when collaborating while travelling - for sure! For now i am still testing it out looking for features that might have a different names and taps. Heres what i can tell you upfront! Its gona pick up popularity with the EDM community! I already have gotten one other producer to try it out.

  3. I migrated to S1 after we first got the news about CW, but I still come to this forum everyday because I think it's a great place full of really good people. Anyway, I looked at this list of updates and it strikes me how few of the features I actually use in a DAW! I bet I probably less than 10% of what's available. This release makes me realize I need to hit the youtube tuts again.

  7. These last promotions let me finish off the UAD plugins I wanted: DBX160, Fairchild Collection, 1176 Collection, Century Channel Strip, V76 and the Korg SDD-3000. I've got the 480L so the 224 doesn't hold interest for me and I now have all the Unison Pres I wanted. This has been a great promotion! The $50 coupons with the $25 ones have made me blow my studio budget for the next few months but well worth it in the end.

  11. I don't want to spam this forum with off-topic posts, so I will make a single topic about noteworthy game deals and post them here. I will update this post with the details of each new deal and bump the topic to give it some attention. Updates will probably be pretty rare, but let me know if you want me to stop. The Talos Principle Price: 2.89 € (90% off) | 5.36 € for Gold Edition (91% off) Deal Expires: October 10, 2023 Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/257510/The_Talos_Principle/ https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3042/The_Talos_Principle_Gold_Edition/ Notes: This has been an Epic Games freebie in the past so you may already have it, but if not this is a historical low. I really like the early parts of this game, but at some point it became a frustrating test of motor skills for me so I gave up on it. Still, definitely worth 3 bucks. The Gold Edition includes bonus content and two DLCs. Marvel's Avengers - The Definitive Edition Price: 3.99 € (90% off) Deal expires: September 30, 2023 Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/997070/Marvels_Avengers__The_Definitive_Edition/ Notes: People seem to think this is an okay game for the sale price. The game is on sale because official support for it is ending at the end of this month and the game will no longer be available for purchase. 13. That has been the case for a number of years. Only plugins like Melodyne can justify that price point. But yes, we had dramatic market saturation with far too much buying during the pandemic and now the economy pushes plugin spending into needless or luxury spending even if they plugins are $10, as a larger whole - we just don't need more.

  15. That is also a symptom of old third party software components expiring due to timeouts or certificate expiration. While we have kept the legacy back end in place as a courtesy, it no longer receives any updates so its subject to failures like this. This is one reason why we want users running the latest version of our software since that is the only version that is actively updated.

  17. Is $69 a good price for the Analog Classics Bundle? Softube wanted $374 to upgrade from Volume 4 to 6... I never thought I would use UAD plugins as main choice. In a way glad to be wrong (love Softube but now it's too expensive). Anyway, the AC Bundle felt like a great DEAL. Thanks Fleer.

  22. https://www.bitwig.com/stories/bitwig-and-presonus-are-making-it-easy-to-share-projects-between-programs-271 Bitwig and PreSonus have announced a new format for project files that allows for easy exchanges between different programs. As of today it is supported in Bitwig Studio 5.0.9 and Studio One 6.5. DAWproject is the latest Bitwig-led initiative aimed at connecting our music technology industry and giving musicians more freedom. It follows the 2022 launch of CLAP, the free and open plugin standard launched last year in collaboration with u-he. “Every DAW is different, and that is a strength of our industry. Allowing users to take their work between programs is now easier than ever — and the right thing to do.”, says Claes Johanson, Bitwig co-founder and lead developer of DAWproject. Arnd Kaiser, General Manager at PreSonus Software: “Our vision for Studio One has always been to eliminate workflow barriers and enable users to collaborate. With DAWproject, we are thrilled to introduce a new open format that allows users of different DAWs to work together seamlessly for the first time. We are proud to launch this groundbreaking new format in partnership with Bitwig.” Music producers often work with multiple Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). Some seek inspiration through new features and technologies, while others use different programs for different stages of their production and/or performance process. Unfortunately, no exchange format existed that allowed for sharing projects between DAWs, forcing users to export and re-import audio stems instead. DAWproject is an open and free file format that makes it much easier to move from one DAW to another, enabling producers to choose their preferred DAW for specific tasks. No more complex and time consuming procedures for moving projects, converting formats, and exporting or importing — DAWproject files include all the most important information in a DAW-agnostic format.

  23. Introduction This article only relates to legacy versions of SONAR distributed via the Steam platform. As of 2023 Sept, changes to the Steam platform and Cakewalk's website have caused compatibility problems with activation. Some symptoms of this are the SONAR app being in demo mode after installation from Steam or "communication problem with the server" error messages when trying to register the application. PS: These instructions are provided as a courtesy to users using legacy versions of Cakewalk that are no longer supported or maintained by us. No support or fixes are provided for these products. This article discusses how to resolve these and reactivate your software if necessary. Activation Steps: Open the Steam client and copy the serial number of the software you wish to activate. (Go to Manage | CD Keys to find it) Download and unzip SteamReg.zip which contains the latest version of SteamReg.exe for both 32 and 64 bit installations. Copy the appropriate flavor of SteamReg.exe to your Steam application's program folder. e.g for 64 bit SONAR it typically is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cakewalk\x64\SONAR Note: The path may be different from above if you have installed Steam to a different folder. This will replace the existing file in that location. For Instruments (Rapture Pro/Z3TA+ 2), you'll want to place these in the folder with the microhost, the default for x64 Rapture Pro: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cakewalk\x64\VstPlugins\Rapture Pro\ Open a command prompt (Start | Command Prompt) Type the following command, replacing <serialnumber> with your serial number as obtained in step 1. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cakewalk\x64\SONAR\SteamReg.exe" /SN <serialnumber> For Instruments, you would use the appropriate equivalent path. Here's how a successful entry for Rapture Pro would appear in Command Prompt: If step 5 succeeded with no errors, you may now open the application from the Steam client. When the app launches you should see the registration dialog prompting you for your e-mail address. NOTE: If you have previously registered the product with Cakewalk, its very important to enter the SAME email address you used before, otherwise the registration will fail. Your PC must be online for this step. The app should now be activated! The same steps may also be used to activate plugins from Steam such as Rapture. Note that if you reinstall the application, you will have to redo the above steps since Steam will restore the SteamReg file to the original version.

  30. Right, as with MIDI, VST, ARA, .SFZ and ASIO. Standards like these, once they get enough traction, result in greater revenue for those who buy in. So you like to track and edit in REAPER or Studio One, but you prefer to mix in Sonar or Mixbus? Great, the easier it is to do that, the more likely that both companies will get your licensing money. Your client's home studio is based around Waveform, but you work in Cubase? Great, they can do the initial tracking and/or composing in Waveform, then you can import their work into Cubase for mixing and further editing. Maybe your client can't afford a copy of Omnisphere, so they write the track using XPand! and let you pick some groovy sounds using Omnisphere. To the extent that being able to do this is important to you, presence or lack of this feature will influence purchasing decisions. Of course it won't be able to cover every single parameter. As with all interchange formats, there will be features that aren't/can't be included. For instance, at present, video is a no-go between Bitwig and Studio One. As with loading a project in any DAW, it pops a notification if it can't find a plug-in. It's not meant to be able to go back and forth all day long between dissimilar DAW's during a complex mixing process, but to be a way that a certain amount of pertinent information can be exported from one DAW and imported to another. At as early a stage as possible. I'd say that it could probably cover most things that are involved in a rough mix, so you do your tracking and comping in your favorite tracking and comping DAW and then export it for mixing in your favorite mixing DAW. People do this today by bouncing to individual audio files in the first DAW, then importing them into the second one. "Imagine" doing that for 50 tracks, at the end of which every effect you used, every edit (no matter how imperfect) and every MIDI track, is baked-in and can't be unbaked without going back to the first DAW. I'm not going to bother typing it all out for people who don't follow links, but here's an in-depth list of what it does (and does not) cover at present: https://www.bitwig.com/support/technical_support/dawproject-file-format-faqs-62/

  38. The DAW market is small but that is in part to there being limited quality options, especially with third party plugins. That may change soon. A bigger reason for the present is that Linix has a bigger footprint in the film industry. Being another option for film makers is not a bad strategy

It's quite an obvious tape sound and not always so subtle, but not in a bad way. Just a lot more noticeable at some settings than Softube Tape or IKs. It really rolls off the highs.
