  1. Yes, I have purchased more than a dozen plugins there, and sold Forever29 codes as well. All were positive experiences. I find it easier than the KVR B&S forum because you don't need all that dialog of "is it still available? What info do you need from me? Where do I send the money? Are the Paypal G&S fees included or do I need to find out how much they are and add them to the asking price?" Sure, some people use it for scalping (they find out where it is on sale and then sell it higher, but below retail) or for reselling freebies that they are not interested in, but that is not a bad thing. E.g, recently I got ImpOscar2 for $25 and I could see from the instructions that it was a freebie offered to customers of Adam Audio. I had no idea how to get that freebie or maybe it was free with the purchase of some hardware but it doesn't matter, in the end I am happy to get ImpOscar2 at a good price

  2. Have been on Knobcloud for some time. Very little negative experiences, have never been scammed. And sometimes, there are really good deals there. Many sellers are open to negotiation. Bottom line: I can recommend it.

  3. I rarely sell stuff, but I sold my Cubase, Ableton, and a few UJams there in the last couple years and had no issues. The DAWS sold within a day for the price I paid for them, and I let the buyer haggle me down a bit on the VSTs.

  4. As some of you may know, my "Sound, Studio, and Stage" online forum/discussion group has been in continuous operation since 1995, so I've seen a lot of changes come and go. The "lack of activity" in a forum like this is, IMHO, a good thing. By and large the people who post here are cool, helpful, and follow decorum. The forum also has a database aspect, because you can find answers to older topics much more easily than on Facebook. The site that hosts my forum, musicplayer.com, had a huge dropoff in participation when Facebook became the behemoth it is today. BUT the end result was the "social media" aspect of the site disappeared, while the tech part remained. Also, participation in my forum keeps creeping back up as people get burned out on social media in general. I think something parallel is happening here. My participation in this forum is I scan for topics that have only a few replies, and see if I can help. For quite a while, it was common for threads to have no replies for quite a while. However, these days, I see fewer and fewer threads that don't already have multiple intelligent responses by the time I find them. Obviously I don't know what the stats are here, but it seems participation certainly isn't falling off. And so many of the people posting here are pure gold if you use Cakewalk (and even if you don't, there's a lot of useful advice). I think the quality of the people here is off the hook, so the quantity doesn't really matter.

  5. Many times a new forum member will show up wanting to solve a problem. It could be a new SONAR/Cakewalk user or just a user who never joined the forum before. From the barrages of posts I've seen over the past several months, it looks like they are coming from one source. JMO: Personally, I would rather report 10-25 bogus posts if it means that people with legitimate urgent questions won't have to jump through hoops. I just wish there could be a one-click reporting option that makes all posts from the malicious poster disappear until a moderator can take a look at all posts from that account.

  9. Yes, I've bought and sold a few items there. You can find some amazing deals there, if you're lucky. Just ignore that a lot of it is merely people trying to sell the things that they got for free.

  10. I love using hardware, however, the problem is that I can't place what I want on several tracks without mixing it down first. So, I guess I will have to get more hardware and less plugins. Sorry Waves, but I gotta kick you to the curb.

  12. Each EQ has a certain "sound" that will affect the signal, and the curves are all different. EQ's like Fabfilter's Pro EQ can cover a lot of territory as most of the parameters are adjustable, making it an "all in one" solution. Many others do likewise. If it's a Tube EQ that will also have an effect on the sound. There are a great many factors involved, hence the plethora of EQ Options.

  13. Funny. I saw this one and Sonimus EQ2 ($129) go by this morning and wondered the same thing - how do they think they can they charge so much for an EQ? Do people actually buy them at these prices??

  15. Having the full version of Kontakt, we're spoilt. We get more free instruments than our hard drives can handle. But I remember what it was like not to have Kontakt and how happy I was when there was a free Kontakt Player version that I could use too. So, for the people who can't afford full Kontakt, this is good news. And for those who have the full version: We shouldn't complain. We're already getting plenty.

  16. The problem with that is if the post is limited, suddenly you get 10 spammers sign up and each do 5 posts each. Meanwhile, the poor dude having issues with getting a driver conflict resolved that's asked for 5 questions to help troubleshoot the issue (not everyone is savvy enough to give the right info back unless coached) gets locked out. Like I mentioned earlier, sometimes it's just the one spammer and if nobody is on for 45 minutes or something while everyone is off eating/sleeping/working, etc. then that can balloon to a lot. But what can also happen is within the space of 10 minutes you get 10 - 15 new signups after the initial test posts and they just go ham on every damn forum. The (I assume) AI flags that the posts were successful and they keep at it. IP bans are hard too. I can see other forums (good example, the REAPER forum) banning VPN based addresses, which is an inconvenience if you use one as a general smart internet practice, as I do. It's not that hard to rotate out an IP or tunnel though other legit sites either. I think the solution really is a better CAPTCHA (although they're finding bots are cracking that easier and easier now), and possibly a verification e-mail thing after signup to slow down account creation. As I said, there's robust word filters in already which catches a hell of a lot of stuff and auto-flags/hides it, but a doorman is a good idea. Invision has a few more spam fighting tools rolling out now too, so this new software update we got not long ago should help things along quite a bit in regards to those. There's no simple answer, unfortunately. For now, we have a handle on it for most of the day. It's a bit of work for all of us, but it's doing the job until the admins can work out better solutions.

  18. I am now finding this after Total Max and Melda Complete this is very awkward thinking unless it's about hoarding plugins. The WUP will rarely be at those prices and then you wait and wait to buy the new version if it ever goes on sale,

  19. I took down a good 4 or 5 pages worth earlier in the day myself. I checked the posting time and they'd only been active for about 7 or 8 minutes, so it definitely doesn't take long to make a huge mess on the forums. I'll usually have the forum open on a second monitor while I'm working and catch them on their first or second post, and the spam filters usually work out that something is sus pretty fast and hides the threads from regular users, so we can get in and clean up the mess without it being horrible for everyone. I've been away from the machine for a while today so it looks like it's been keeping everyone on their toes! For anyone wondering, there are some pretty robust spam filters in place and we just added a bunch of terms to it, which definitely worked well... for a while. It's really like a game of whack-a-mole. Definitely report the spam if you see it, the mods are spread over a bunch of different time zones which helps when each of us are busy with work / life (every mod is a volunteer), and one of us will get onto it ASAP.

  21. Hello , We had such a good time with our last collaboration we immediately started another one. This one is just about all SubVibe. All I did was the electric guitar and some backing vocals. I really like the "spire" synth he used on this and our last song. We both shared the mix/master on this , so if you hear any problems or have suggestions , one of us will figure it out. Thank You .. mark https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14641482

  22. We went down to the beach a few weeks back and shot this. First time I've ever done a video for a song before. Well...that's not entirely true. The band I was in when I was 17 made a music video with a friend's camcorder. But, it was only watched by us and our parents and is currently (probably) under a diaper in a landfill somewhere. Anyway, kind of proud of how it turned out and just wanted to share it with folks.

  23. Thanks! I installed Midi Ox and it looks like overkill. So I tried yet again opening Cakewalk because I wasn't like I had already tested it 5 times in the last two days or anything... ...and I then remembered to try one more thing that is only rarely suggested but is probably the most reliable solution across all computer problems. And that is: Try doing the exact same thing you've already done like 5 times and maybe this time it will work for some unknown reason. ... and that's exactly what I tried, and it worked! I have to remember to recommend that next time comes to me with a computer problem. :-)

  24. I remember seeing my first one back in either the late 1970's or early 1980's. Imagine teaming that up with a Kramer metal neck! 😆 (For those that have never heard of it, back in the mid-1970's, Kramer came out with guitars that featured an aluminum neck that weighed far more than the rest of the guitar! I remember trying to play one and you kept ending up with the body of the guitar up near your neck since the strap's meant to hold the weight of the body not the guitar neck!)

  27. Thanks for your wise reply, Wookie! No sooner said than done. Barry, your words are so welcome! I tried to get those guys to wear something different, but they, instead, got me to wear their uniform. Only the lead guitar had the good sense to wear something else. Keep up your good work! JWN, thank you for your kind reply! This song is more in my wheelhouse than some that I write. Cheers!

I saw a review for this developer that was decent, not great, and was wondering if anyone here finds any of their plugins worth consideration? I was thinking about the Leslie simulator or maybe a compressor or saturator.

  41. Very cool! Great guitar work and tones! I didn't really get full-blown EDM out of it, but the fusion/lights out jazz side is super strong. With the modern whooshy touches! I did wonder if some of the risery-whooshes might sit better in the mix, and not encroach on the guitar or other elements, if the high eq was trimmed a bit from the whoosh. 1:25 area? at :026 maybe double check that kick rhythm? very creative, good writing and playing! cheers, -Tom
