  3. Sure, but like a lot of others here who own Waves plugins, getting a free duplicate of a Waves plugin is basically like paying the WUP fee without having to pay the WUP fee. Consequently, while I already own this plugin, the WUP had expired on it, so getting this for free is like getting the 1 year WUP free.

  7. I've always wondered if "age-related" hearing loss isn't just nature's defense against our noisy world. We now know that it isn't really age-related at all, e.g. the hearing acuity of an 80-year-old from a remote tribe in the Amazon is as sensitive as that of a young child in urban America. In a 2008 talk by a hearing specialist at NAMM, they said that current teens have the hearing sensitivity of a 50-year-old fifty years ago. They chalked it up to in-ears at high volume for long hours. And predicted that by the time today's teenagers are in their 50's, hearing impairment will have become epidemic and a major health crisis. They also noted that one of the worst occupations for hearing loss, those who lose their hearing faster than average, was mix engineers. That hit hard for the audience, who were mostly mix and mastering engineers. They didn't have to include performing musicians. We already know we're screwed.

  11. I really did not think plugins could really sound like hardware, but the TDR Molot Ge changed that for me. Nice color. And easy to use. It is on sale now for about $10 here: https://www.audiodeluxe.com/products/audio-plugins/tokyo-dawn-labs-tdr-molot-ge I did not list this under deals because this also relates to some threads about limiters and comps. By the way, the TDR Kotelnikov is also amazing. Enjoy!

AT 15 $ it's simply a stupid deal ,and be sure to watch how i handle channels with it , the beauty is here also !! PS : I WENT REALLY hard on it (to hard to my staste) because it was to really show the timing on this versus the other .... be sure to try it !!! 14. I've used the CAL script <Split Notes to Tracks> for 20+ years without any issues. Yeah it requires some work, but nothing that intricate is ever easy. I use it all the time for drums and then recombine the MIDI data to kicks, hats, snares etc. The newest version of Scaler 2.7 can capture the MIDI and then output to multiple output tracks/channels starting with the bottom note to Ch1 (etc) driving multiple instruments.

  21. Thanks for the tip! Lately I've been using the TDR VOS SlickEQ, which is a free plug in. I liked it so much I laid out a bit of cash for the TDR Slick EQ GE (Gentleman's Edition). I find it's really easy to dial in the tone I'm looking for, plus it has 5 different EQ curves and some nice, but subtle saturation settings. Cheers!

  23. Here's the first song I wrote this year, and I'm wondering if it's ready to go into the oven yet. I had a lot of fun experimenting with O-Vox, using my voice to drive synthesizers, especially now that my rig is fast enough to monitor in real-time. Much gratitude to all for your time and thoughts. 3-19-23: Thanks to a huge contribution from Markno999, I've created "Chaos Ravine 2.0": https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14563308 Since we both have SD3, he was able to create a MIDI drum file for the song, using a different kit and grooves. The only original drum tracks that I kept were the pre-choruses. I cleaned up a few other minor things and lowered the vocals a tad, per Daryl1968. So many thanks to all who have contributed! Here are the lyrics, as requested: Sapphire eyes on silicon clowns Live forever with their ups and downs When they get home and turn on the lights They feel safer, but they’re hungry all night They say it’s better to be seen than heard That’s only for kids It only matters when they hear the word That keeps flipping their lids CHORUS Chaos ravine is calling It’s holding them in a spell Chaos ravine forever There’s nothing to show or tell Laser beams come down from the sky Harmony is hard to come by They’re pointing their fingers at everyone else The odor still lingers until they see themselves They leave a shadow everywhere they go, it’s like planting a seed They fill a void by reaping what they sow because it’s filling a need Their happiness comes with pain You can see it in their eyes Their loneliness causes rain Is it any surprise? Bridge: They’re hard as diamonds when it comes to rules Because they’ve broken quite a few And, they’ll assist you when you give them fools It’s the best that you can do Chaos ravine is calling It’s holding them in a spell Chaos ravine forever There’s nothing to show or tell Chaos ravine is calling Chaos ravine is calling Chaos ravine is calling

  26. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you already have an instrument definition for the psr s670 and you just want to edit it to include the names of presets from an expansion. In different gear from a different manufacturer I used to edit my own *.ins files to include different banks of sounds. This involved using notepad to type the names in and making sure I have the right LSB and MSB for the bank switching assignments. For my gear, user presets were always loaded into memory which was bank 0. Each expansion sound ROM had its own bank switching address. Either the user manual for the psr s670 or the MIDI manual should tell you what bank switching method it uses.

  27. Hi Mark - sounds really great. Nice stereo spread in the phones and excellent performance. Great mix...and .... COWBELL! Who could ask for more? I could picture the band playing on the stage in my head - always the sign of a quality production.

  29. Way back in 2000, I got my first computer and knew nothing about them (a dummy). So, I bought the Windows for Dummies book and one of the first things it says is to close the book and don't open it again until you have a problem.

  33. I do not think you can in Melodyne itself, or at least I have never seen it. Melodyne uses ARA and reversing is a clip function. It would probably be simplest to copy the audio to a new track to reverse in CbB and then do any edits to that isolated copy/clip.

  39. Two things you have not mentioned yet. Have you tried a Brickwall limiter, A Compressor needs to be used very lightly on a Master bus. But a Brickwall is designed for this. Also as above, did you look at your low end frequencies. Common mistake is adding way to much low end which will result in clipping a mix and nothing over 100Hz survives in the mix. I have made lots of videos on these topics. These 3 are most relevant to your issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w24ZQIkY4fw&list=PL7YqVth30eGsdimFV6w1niyBN07M2uhRj&index=44 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6RB3uSbCoE&list=PL7YqVth30eGsdimFV6w1niyBN07M2uhRj&index=48 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc41XMPGQXk&list=PL7YqVth30eGsdimFV6w1niyBN07M2uhRj&index=15&t=74s

  41. This is just an FYI that the clip will be destructively truncated to what is visible. When making a groove clip, the DAW tries to figure out how many beats are in the clip. Sometimes the DAW gets the count wrong. When it does, the clip length changes. The beat count may be edited in the Groove Clip section of the Clip inspector and the Loop Construction View.

  43. @Bajan Blue @Grem @RikF @noynekker Thanks guys for the positive feedback! I'm going to just sit on this one for a while. I'm liking the tracks but it's too repetitive to stand on it's own as an instrumental. When I'm positive about the direction to take it I'll repost. This also may turn out to be a collaboration. Ever heard the term "I'm at a loss for words" Thanks . Later .. mark
