  1. For Voltage Modular - $29.99 (normally $76) https://store.cherryaudio.com/bundles/malleable-instruments-bundle There are a lot of bundles for VM and there is always something on sale but I recommend this one. This contains two particularly useful modules. Razors is a dual multimode filter with wavefolding and a raft of modulation options which can create some very rich, evolving sounds from even a single oscillator input. Shelves is on the face of it a simple parametric EQ but the frequency, gain and Q can be modulated opening a wide range of possibilities. I have had some great fun with these two and have saved a few great sounding patches for future use. I have yet to experiment at length with the other modules in the bundle but there are some interesting options.

  2. I d/l the program. Installed the trail (7day). Seems like this is much more than I was thinking it would be. I was imagining a program to play tab files and do some minor creation of songs in tabs. But upon looking at the features I am impressed. Probably should have picked this up long time ago. Looks to be worth the regular asking price. If you play guitar, at $29... no brainer IMHO.

  3. Seriously, when I think of WUP, I think of Fleer. It's like the tale of Mary Worth. Legend has it that if you repeat her name holding a candle in front of a mirror, her ghost will appear. That's kind of how it is when mentioning WUP in the forum with you, Fleer!

  6. This is your cover, so anything goes, but... IF you are trying to be "true" to the original your beat is wrong. This is not a 2 & 4 backbeat rhythm. Ringo plays a "train" beat. (keep in mind, its your production and anything goes) Also, way too much "grit" in the guitar. (IF you are trying to be "true" to the original) You did a fine job, but this is a "classic" and I shook my head immediately. Admittedly, because of my preconceived notions. (I've played this tune; a LOT) So ๐Ÿ‘, with the above stated caveats; IF you are trying to be true to the original... t and Tucson is pronounced Two-saan not Tux-sun and one more quick note: I like to feature The Late Great Billy Preston's rhythm part much more prominently, not just the solo... and no cover is complete with John saying:

  7. Guitar Pro is one heck of an app. Tons of features developed over the years. The UI is lovely. Soloing/muting instruments for practice/learning purposes is a breeze. Its use as a notation/tab editor is also well executed. Superb piece of software for $29. I've been using Guitar Pro since v4 at least (that's all the further back this geezer's mind can go). I have two "GP" apps, Guitar Pro and Gig Performer. I always think "Guitar Pro" for Guitar Pro and "GP" for Gig Performer since I'm on their forum daily. Gig Performer isn't cheap, but it is a superb VST/VI host for live performance and studio work. Too many great features to get into here. Forte is no more, and GP blows Cantabile, which I was using way back, out of the water. Mainstage, too. And I've never even tried the live performance feature of Studio One Pro since it was added. No need. Worth a check-out, IMO. Gig Performer

The only way I can describe the library is that there is real โ€œheartโ€ inside of the instruments that you experience while playing them. The replay is indexed and I am working on editing stand alone segments as well. Enjoy! Celtic Era 2 | CHROMA Grand Piano | GAZE | Giveaways and More!

  15. Isolated bass and drums from the With the Beatles album. I'd never noticed how often McCartney utilizes chords on bass. Or how tight the bass 'n drums were (listen to the kick and bass on Roll Over Beethoven). Drum sound is clear and present, despite only two mics on the kit. You can really hear the pumping 670 compression on the rides. Great engineering. Keep in mind that this was recorded on a 2-track machine, so most of it is essentially live. Also worth remembering that these guys were all pretty young and still relatively inexperienced in the studio; McCartney would have been 20 or 21 years old at the time of these recordings.

  19. I'd say the answer depends on what is your definition of acceptable and what instruments you're using. I don't think any of the instruments are realistic when compared to actual VIs, but some of them sound quite nice, like the acoustic guitars. Strings and horns on the other hand are quite horrible. For a $29 software percussions are ok, I think. If you're demoing the songs to your band then any sound will probably do. If you're doing professional work and you need a demo for your client, GP's RSE won't be good enough.

  20. I see G.A.S. in your future. ๐ŸŽธ I have licenses for Studio One Pro, SONAR Platinum (now Cakewalk) and Reaper. I've settled on Studio One exclusively. I have a LOT of virtual instruments and FX plugins. I also have 3 2TB external SSDs to compliment the 1TB internal SSD on my laptop. Plus the Thunderbolt 3 port extender and an audio interface. Looks like a rat's nest behind my laptop when I close the lid. ๐Ÿคช

  21. No, not really. Good enough for making a backing track to practice to? Yes. You'll need a DAW and the appropriate virtual instruments or Band in a Box (BiaB) for that. BiaB isn't cheap. List for the Ultra Pak (which can be upgraded to from lesser Paks, but where you'll want to wind up anyway) is $469, with annual upgrades with a bunch of new content at $129. Black Friday is coming. BiaB is a really good tool. It has been around a LONG time and shows its DOS roots in some places (like the menus), but their forum is excellent. Company reps and even Dr. Peter Gannon (BiaB founder) respond to questions. If you're not a current DAW user and know your way around a tool like that, BiaB is great. RealTracks played by real musicians and and tons of Styles for songs. Band in a Box Check out Henry Clarke's YT channel for songs he's recorded using BiaB and for his BiaB tutorials. 23. I like Waves plugins. They have excellent sounding stuff. Price is some of the best in the industry for the quality of the plugins. I do not like the one license bs. That's just uncalled for in this environment. WUP is a take it or leave it deal for me. As others have pointed out, get it for free and use it as much as you want.

  24. The guitar pro tab archive marked with "download" in red is a working dl. It's gp3 and gp4 files. Viruscheck after download but before you open the zip. I checked it with MS defender. Didn't find anything bad. http://alwaysoldschool.blogspot.com/2014/07/guitar-pro-tab-archive-55000.html I stayed away from those further down. Seems a bit too eager.

  25. I love the Mellotron and own tons of sample libraries a few Mellotron VSTs (MTron Pro is my favorite). Some sample libraries sound a bit different than others due to the condition of the tapes used and sometimes that can add to the lofi character in a favorable way IMO. I own PureMagnetik's Microtron XL - The Ultimate Mellotron Compendium, which normally goes for $39 USD and is now on sale for $10 USD. I know that I paid more for these libraries (I bought them in separate purchases) than $10 USD and I am very happy with them and would recommend them to any Mellotron fan. From the developer: Microtron XL for Ableton Live, Kontakt & Logic bundles together all 3 tapes from Puremagnetikโ€™s popular Microtron series. All of the original imperfections, vintage analog quality and performance nuances of the Mellotron M400 have been immaculately captured through a Neumann U47 Microphone and Reeves Custom 50 Amplifier. Microtron XL integrates seamlessly into Ableton Live, Kontakt and Logic. It comes packed with a palette of 9 instruments and over 1 Gigabyte of multisample content. The Ableton Live version contains 9 individual multi-sampled instruments and a full โ€œtapeโ€ instrument that has similar sound blending functionality as found on the original M400. Microtron XL also includes over 150 professionally performed phrases complete with Macro and effects integration. Microtron XL includes the following instruments as programmed from the original tapes. MK II Flute Octave Recorders Cello Clarinet French Horn Glenn Miller Brass 8 Voice Choir String Section https://puremagnetik.com/products/microtron-xl-mellotron-samples-ableton-live-kontakt-logic-samples

  27. Hi everyone, in the past, a similar request has already been made, however I would like to propose it again with some variations as I think, a new feature like this on the PRV, if it will be implemented, could be very useful. Personally I found myself many times in the condition in which it would have been enormously useful for me to have a customization of this type of the notes pane in the PRV view. First of all to have a quick visual indication of the extension available to me for each VST instrument used in the various tracks, but not only, even an additional personalized text would have allowed me to insert useful additional "reminders" on the individual keys. This customization should be done per single track and not a global. In practice, a custom instrument definition can already be assigned to a single track through the appropriate menu. It would therefore also be a matter of adding an additional "custom text and colors" option to the menu already present. This option should open an edit window similar to that already in use for the articulations in which to be able to enter and save as a preset also, the personalized data. The keyboard notes names would obviously be fixed instead text1, text2 and color would be customizable. Text1 and Text 2 fields should be displayed in different areas of the piano keys and it should be possible to use them both or not to allow better management of the limited space available and to have maximum flexibility according to use (in some cases it would be visually more linear to use only the text1 field, in other cases only the text2, or a combinaltion of both, etc). I think an image can explain very simply what I mean so I insert one as an example. The possibility of entering the personalized data manually would also be relatively simple and fast so as not to require automatic retrieve from the VST instrument (for example I think kontakt note colors) which would probably create some more complications with VST data exchange . Also if we insert manually the data through CbB in this way, we can also insert the custom texts which are very important too. I hope my suggestion will be taken into consideration for a future release. Let me know what you think. For now I thank the developers once again for their work!

  28. OK, I've checked out The Giant. That's an impressive one! Especially The Giant - Cinematic, it has some very ethereal presets! That part definitely falls under the "odd/unique character pianos / pianos with a twist" category! Layer that with the Giant - Basic Giant, and you have a "Giant" piano pad!

  37. I have the Abbey Road Collection. That is a very cool and unique set of plugins. Worth keeping up with, and I WUP'd them once to get the upgrade to the Waves v12 with the new preset browser and the scalable interface. That is the thing with WUP, you don't have to do it every year, only if it's an upgrade that you want or need. Also have the Scheps Omni Channel, and that's another very cool and useful plugin that is a keeper. It's light on my system and it can make almost any track I put it on instantly sound better! I'd take or leave the H-Series collection, but got it for a good price. Same with the Inspire Virtual Instruments Collection. My favorites are the synths Element, Codex, and Flow Motion. The rest are mostly sampled keyboards, that I have duplicates of elsewhere. If I could only keep one of them it would be Element. Never bought into any of the other flagship Waves FX bundles. Now that I have collected other brands of FX I don't feel that anything was missed. Having a dozen compressors or EQs does not help me out much. If anything, I really need to delete much of what I've got, LOL! Some of the other miscellaneous Waves plugins here were either outright freebies, or buy & get free deals. Not go-to by any means, but some are fun special FX. For example: Brauer Motion, Kaleidoscopes, Ovox, LoFi Space, Berzerk Distortion, CLA Echosphere, Manny Marroquin Tone Shaper, etc. Oh yeah, an honorable mention for the Waves One Knob series. I've collected 5 of them as freebies! Sometimes you just want one knob. Preferably one that goes to 11. ๐Ÿคฃ
