  1. As the dismal 2021 Sales Season comes to an end, with it's plethora of lackluster sales, let's take the time to reflect on all of the GOOD THINGS that came from this year, and on our Family and Friends! I would also like to personally thank each and every one of you for making me feel appreciated for the effort that I put forth into keeping everyone informed about deals and trends, and for affording me the opportunity to get things that I would have NO WAY of getting otherwise! Your kindness and generosity shine through in all that you do! SO A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE CAKEWALK FAMILY!!! Let's make 2022 a YEAR FULL OF WONDERFUL MUSIC! A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

  3. Lets hope 2022 sees the end of the pandemic. You know the one I'm talking about. The one that infects software companies with a subscription model HNY folks!

  5. Same to you Larry. You are very appreciated here. With all that's going on --with the pandemic-- it's an excellent reminder to be kind to one another and value all we have. While I've had several friends who've gotten the virus so far -- two with very serious cases, one who got it twice-- I'm thankful that everyone, so far, every friend and relatives I'm close to has pulled through. Some of my friends loved ones and friends of theirs haven't been so lucky. One friend's brother in his 40s who I last saw a few years ago and over 20 loved ones and friends of friends. One of my friends, who is also a musician (but is a Cubase user and not part of this community), lost 4 friends so far. I admit, while I played drums semi professionally many years ago, music now just a hobby,, but it is my refuge from the stress, and so is coming here. It's a little escape with like minded music geeks who make inside jokes absolutely no one else would appreciate! Keep on rocking, Larry, and be safe.

  8. Yes, the joy of making a post with a great deal when you looked all through page one of the forum and don't see anyone posted yet. It's like a race to get it up before Larry!!! ...And minutes later, the disappointment after someone posts a screenshot that Larry posted that deal earlier in the week.

  16. I echo everything said here. A stressful year. My job ceased to exist due to the pandemic. And had the humiliation of employers not even responding to job applications. So said bollocks to it all and retired. And enjoying being creative again (this time on my own terms and not getting screwed over by wonky management). And in particular, dipping into the deals forum throughout the day. And feeling very up when you find a deal and posting it,and Larry has not !. All the best to you all in '22

  18. That is just a savage single sentence critique, but I've noticed in your posts, which can be brutally critical -- and I think that kind of insightful criticism can be really useful for sample library users researching libraries unlike the pervasive sea of YouTubers shilling pretending to be reviewers in order to get freebies and cash giving overly positive promo with affiliate links. If you have or start a channel doing reviews, please let us know. Dead serious. As it stands Corey (I forget his last name) is the one very objective sample library reviewer I know of. Okay, I look forward to the angry YouTubers and YouTuber wannabes who respond to this or PM me. And yeah, I will still watch those videos and refer devs to them if they have a decent following, but these folks are by no means objective reviewers but instead are promoters / sellers of products, they just don't want to be upfront about it. I'm writing that as someone who's led affiliate marketing for a major global brand, not just as an observer. Affiliates are salespeople, we can use more objective critics with real opinions untainted by their desire for freebies and product sales.

  23. For the LOFI heads i made this , you can use it as a starting point , play with the Sample rate (on left) to increase or decrese details in kit , play with the jitter and dither for noise Saturation if you need to beef up the thingy

  30. Happy New Year all. As for resolutions, in 2022 I hope to expand my songs and use a fourth chord. Maybe even a black key if I’m bold and had a couple drinks haha.

  31. There was a great bundle deal at NI, but I couldn’t justify the upgrade price. Maybe another time when they repeat the sale eventually. Only upgraded Geosonics from V1 to V2 in the intro period.

  34. BTW, I see the deals forum as a bar with a bunch of regulars (FTR, I haven't even been to a bar in maybe 5 years; I'm a dad and not much of a drinker as a dad, I've probably had 6 beers in two years; the guys I grew up with would find that sad!). Kind of like Cheers -- for those old enough to get the reference. Larry is like our Sam.

  36. Little bump to give props to Contemporary Drama tool kit that is on sale for $119 (40% off for first time ever). Got this when it first came out and it’s been really inspiring and different. Check out the demos tracks in case you overlooked it. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/contemporary-drama-toolkit/

  37. There's a reason why franchise games like GTA, Assassins Creed, and CoD are popular is because you don't need a boutique system. I've pretty much stayed away from most modern games because of disk space and GPU requirements. Game developers would never make it in the DAW world. They would create an EQ that requires a 4ghz CPU and 12gb of disk space.

  41. I have found that using PayPal and not using the Friends option is perhaps the best way, you pay a little more but it's like paying for insurance. If seller won't cover the fees (insists on Friends option) I'll either cover them or steer clear. I've had a couple of issues over the years - bogus listing, warez sold as legit, etc. but I've always (eventually) gotten my money back. I realize that some areas have problems using PayPal but that doesn't invalidate it everywhere else.

  42. Everyone's a prophet of gloom and doom...pretty sad... no wonder this world is so messed up! In SEVEN YEARS on KVR I've had ONE (1) bad experience, and even that worked out in the end! There are always going to be "Shysters" but running to "safe spaces" certainly isn't the answer!

  45. I too, am getting old. What little hair I have left is graying. My eyes and ears don't work as well as they used to. Love handles and man boobs are the new norm. My hips and knees ache from walking up stairs. But, BUT, in spite of all that, I have the prostate of a 12 year old boy..... ....I keep it in a jar on my living room mantle!
