You create tempo changes by adding envelope nodes and editing their values. You can expand the Tempo track to give yourself more room to work, and adjust the range of values for the Tempo track. To show the Tempo track, do one of the following: Click the Track view View menu and select Tempo Track Show/Hide Select Views > Tempo or press ALT+SHIFT+5 (this also opens the Tempo Inspector) The Tempo track automatically zooms vertically to fit the tempo range each time the tempo envelope is modified. Track Manager preset support The Track Manager dialog box now has support for per-project presets. This is useful if you have a large project and you want to hide all other tracks apart from a certain group of tracks. For example, on a rock project you could have a "Drums only" or "Guitars" preset; on an orchestral project, you may wish to have a "Strings Section" preset that hides all tracks apart from your strings tracks. Note: Tracks within the Tracks Manager presets are "opted-out" - i.e. it remembers which tracks you want to hide, rather than which tracks you want to show (to avoid not being able to see newly created tracks). To open the Track Manager, click the Track view Tracks menu and select Track Manager or press the H key. Convert MIDI continuous controller (CC) events to/from automation envelopes You can convert back and forth between MIDI continuous controller (CC) events and automation envelopes. The existing Track view Clips > Convert MIDI Controllers To Envelopes command lets you convert all CC events on all selected tracks to automation envelopes. You now also have finer control with the ability to convert an individual CC type on a Piano Roll controller lane. You can also convert MIDI automation envelopes back to CC events. You can also choose to convert only a selected part of your CC events / automation envelope and back again. Converting MIDI controllers to envelopes: In the Piano Roll view Controller pane, click the name/label of the CC type that you want to convert to an envelope. Right-click the highlighted CC name/label and select Convert MIDI to Envelopes. Cakewalk converts the Piano Roll view controller data to a Track view envelope that controls the same parameter. Converting envelopes to MIDI controllers: This can be useful, for example, if you want to use the Transform tool in the Piano Roll view Controller pane. In the Clips pane, show the envelope that you want to convert to MIDI controller events. Select the time range that contain the controller data you want to convert, or clear the selection if you want to convert the entire envelope. Right-click envelope and select Convert to MIDI Events. Conversion uses the current Snap to Grid setting as a resolution for discrete CC events: If Snap is off, the resolution is the last selected snap setting If Snap is not set to a musical value (e.g. samples), the resolution is 1/32nd note UI theme compatibility checker IMPORTANT: The Inspector header has a new Show/Hide Tempo Inspector button . In addition to the new button, the other header buttons have been resized. Custom user themes must be updated in order to show the header buttons properly. When you select a theme in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Themes, or launch Cakewalk with an old custom user theme active, Cakewalk checks to make sure the custom theme is compatible with the current version of Cakewalk. A user theme is considered incompatible if Cakewalk contains new or resized UI elements that have not been updated in the theme. Behavior changes Disable Arranger Preview if project does not support it To reinforce that Arranger Preview is not supported in projects that contain video, ReWire synths, and active Region FX, Arranger Preview is now disabled in such projects. Optimizations High resolution Plug-in Automation improvements Plug-in automation envelopes were previously being decimated at a uniform 50 msec interval. The automation rendering process has been redesigned to render at a much higher resolution of (default = 5 msec) and also make automation sample accurate (for VST3). For VST2 (or VST3 plug-ins that do not support sample accurate automation) the rendering will be buffer accurate. These improvements allows for much tighter sync when automating plug-in parameters synced to rhythm even at higher latencies. The higher resolution rendering also makes automating filter sweeps audibly smoother and without aliasing artifacts. The decimation interval can be changed via the audio configuration property AutomationDecimationMsec (2-30) in preferences. WRT track controls, @Craig Anderton offered this solution (from http://forum.cakewalk.com/Pro-Channel-Panning-m3755460.aspx) I believe it was deleted from the Huge Book of CbB Tips because Channel Tools was not bundled with CbB at the time the book was compiled.

I'd advise a bit of caution wrt to the reappearance of BFD3 as it's not finding -any- audio data (kit pieces) from earlier versions (BFD2 or 1.5) on my system. Running "Tools | Set up content locations..." is flagging these paths with "License!" Selecting the option to "Add BFD2 paths" launches the license manager and appears to run but has not resolved the issue. I'm a long time user with a strong preference for it over the alternatives and expect some issues as they scramble to remain relevant, but this would be a showstopper for me. They were quick to respond with a previous note on 3rd party content, will post an update here when available, UPDATE: Drew has been most responsive. 1. "BFD2 content not loading is a known issue. We are working on getting everyone who owns BFD2 a copy of the London Sessions pack, and everyone who owns BFD1 a copy of the Eldorado pack as those are the modern equivalents." > fwiw, I was able to get back most (all?) of the BFD1.5 content by doing the registry hack (which I think can also be done by running BFD3 as admin and rescanning the content paths). The BFD2 content (all) fails to show up anywhere in BFD3 (not listed in the libraries/kits/drums, etc.). Both BFD and BFD2 content are still flagged as "License!" though. 2. It did not find the Zildjian ZP-1 content which was installed under the BFD2/Audio dir. Checking to see if I have to reinstall or can get by with just dragging the folder to a different location. 3. It took me awhile to get fully into Reaper, but now I could not see using anything else. It was worth the learning curve. No DAW comes close to Reaper's performance. Projects that would bring Cakewalk to its knees, have no affect on Reaper. I have not had a crash in over two years of using it. I'm not a power user, but I have a few custom actions that would be hard to live without. Kenny Gioia has some great tutorial videos on YouTube. They helped me a great deal.

If you have an audio interface with a loopback feature, you simply add the Loopback to as your Desktop audio input in OBS - This brings your DAW or any app that is playing sound into OBS. The beauty of this feature is you don't need to mess with your ASIO driver set up. I found it a huge PITA to change to WASAPI shared just to make a video. I'd often forget I'd done this which causes problems when just using Cakewalk. Now I never have to change drivers or devices or anything. And I can fire up OBS in 2 seconds and start recording. For Narration I add my Interfaces Input 1/2 as a the Mike channel input. For the DAW playback you add the Loopback as the desktop audio input to OBS. It gives me 2 audio inputs and 2 level controls so I can mix the balance between DAW playback and narration in real time as I record like I see you did in the video. I'm not sure, but I think that FL studio ASIO driver is sort of like the Steinberg or asio4all drivers which can take over your proper drivers functions. If you use it, and then switch back to ASIO, make sure to double check in Sync and cashing that your interface is the device for sync. I highly recommend getting your hands on a interface with a loopback if you want to do hassle free live streaming or just screen capture and not have to change driver modes to do so. Otherwise this seems like a good solution for those who don't have a loopback option.

Hi everyone, amazing job by the Bakers!! One bug (at least on my setup): Cannot resize the punch recording location on the timeline (using red flag on the line). I have to select a new area (green) and toggle the auto punch button for it to resize. I use the feature quite a bit, so it can be quite annoying. Looping and selection are working ok. Is anyone having the same problem?

I guess it’s time to start using Bandlab! I can see how it could be useful at least for recording demos on my phone and then opening it up in CbB. It would be cool if we could also access the loops and sample material from here as well. There’s some quality stuff in there and I’m not able to download from the Assistant app.

This is available in Cakewalk by BandLab It is one of the few reasons the plug-in manager is still included. By default, plug-in layouts are stored in a folder the user directory. Cakewalk and SONAR have their own user directories. Either copy the layouts or modify preferences as desired.
