  2. Saw an ad for Scorpions’ residency in Vegas and it prompted me to dig up this thing. A snippet of an early demo of a cover of Scorpions’ Still Loving You for my Post Mortem Spasms project. I call it Still Loving You (in the graveyard). The arrangement popped in my head one night at work and I decided to put a demo together between calls. I recorded this basic vocal track a few weeks later, thinking that it would serve as a guideline for the singer who'd agreed to sing it. But when she heard the demo, she said I had to sing it myself. I hate my voice, my stupid accent, and I can’t sing, but who am I to argue with an actual singer? And I think something inside me agrees. I have to do this one by myself. Plus, she promised to coach me, so I agreed. I am all about learning. I used my old, cheap, beat up AKG hanging from the ceiling fan to record the vocals, with the AC on and all, did 3 takes, and moved on. There was no click, no nothing so the vocal comes in a little rushed and there are a lot of things I need to work on (I’m also not sure why the line “all the way from the starT” sounds like “all the way from the starS”. But it’s only a first draft. I must re-record it before the old iMac downstairs die because that’s the only computer that has all the libraries that no longer work on newer computer, including my beloved Cakewalk Dimension Pro piano. I think the harpsichord is the old Miroslav overdubbed with the Dimension one to add a bit of low end.

  3. Introducing vPlayer 4. The next generation vst/au host https://www.digitalbrain-instruments.com/vplayer4 Note: I don't see any mention of support for VST3s We are glad to share with you the new upgrade for vPlayer, our vst/au host. It has been improved including a lot of new features and a new audio engine. vPlayer 4 is a 64-bits vst/au host developed for playing live an audio plugin rig on stage or while doing a rehearsal, for jamming with virtual synths or for quick testing new plugins (virtual instruments & effects), all without the need to use any DAW, which is usually more complex to setup. vPlayer 4 acts as a wrapper to turn any vst/au into a standalone application. While a traditional DAW can be used for live performance, many musicians prefer the stability and ease of use that comes with dedicated VST host. vPlayer 4 allows playing up to 8 vst/au instruments at same time using up to 4 different MIDI keyboards, so you can join a quick loading jamming session with your friends. 4 Plugin Slots. Each plugin slot allows using 1 instrument & 1 effect plugin. Each slot can be played using a different MIDI device simultaneously (4 MIDI devices) or using the same MIDI device. Play up to 8 instrument plugins. Each effect plugin can be converted into an instrument plugin, allowing to play up to 8 instruments at same time. External audio input available. Use a microphone, any music instrument or audio input from third-party software using virtual audio loopback drivers. Built-in Audio Player. Play any file from your computer. Built-In MIDI Player. Play up to 4 MIDI files simultaneously. Parallel & Serial Processing Modes. Parallel mode allows playing 4 virtual instruments while audio output is processed through an effect plugin for each virtual instrument. Serial mode allows playing 1 virtual instrument while audio output is processed through 7 effect plugins. In audio source mode, serial processing mode allows processing your audio input through 8 vst/au effect plugins. Multitrack & Stereo Recording. Record each plugin slot audio output to individual audio files. Midi Recording. Export individual MIDI files for each plugin slot. Up to 4 midi files. Master Rack. Up to 2 vst/au plugins to process master output. Built-in Metronome. System Requirements: Mac: Mac OS 10.11.6 or later. Apple Silicon OS 11 or later. 4GB RAM or more recommended. Windows: Windows 8 or later. 4GB RAM or more recommended. Price: $6 More info at www.digitalbrain-instruments.com/vplayer4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VPLAYER 4 LITE. THE LITTLE BRODER In case you need a simpler setup and only playing or testing 1 VST/AU instrument or effect plugin, vPlayer 4 Lite is your best and less cpu usage option. 1 single plugin slot for vst/au instrument or effect plugin Built-In Audio Player External Audio Input available Midi Recording Master Rack Download VPlayer Lite at https://www.digitalbrain-instruments.com/vplayer4

  4. Nobody's gonna reprimand you for sharing this. However, this particular thread is specifically for feedback on the current release and it's to everyone's benefit that we all try to stay on topic. I know, it may sound punitive, but I'd suggest the Coffee House as a better destination for posts like this.

  6. Zebralette was what convinced me to initially invest in Zebra2 back in, hmm, 2012? It's been my go-to synth ever since. Here's my very first experiment with Zebralette from back then. Bear in mind that this little guy is basically just a single oscillator! But Zebra's oscillators are pretty impressive even before you start applying modulation, effects, filters and its fancy envelope generators. Everything you hear in this ditty is Zebralette - no fx, not even EQ. Needless to say, I will be purchasing Zebra3 on day one of its release.

  7. That weird percussion in the beginning was an ultrasound recording of Adam's baby's heartbeat a day before she joined us in person. His impending new deal as a father lead him to ponder the circle of life and mortality. The video comes with visuals of a child's perspective. I really love the drummer's expressive take with a hint of swing to get the hips moving a little bit. I recorded and produced and performed the bass as a bonus because I really love the song.

  8. https://blanketfortaudio.gumroad.com/l/melloharp Blanketfort Audio has announced the release of Melloharp, a free VST3 and AU instrument plugin for Windows and macOS. For this version, Blanketfort Audio multisampled the original in 3 round robins, and 3 dynamic layers, in thirds. It's all about 3's. Then, in a similar fashion to SR Drums, those samples were run through a Technics cassette deck, as well as a Sony TCM-40DV, doing the 'dub at double speed octave up, record back at half speed' trick. This resulted in 3 different tonal layers. As opposed to making different instruments for each later à la SR Drums, all 3 layers were loaded into the same instrument so you can blend them to suit.

  10. Check the the Event List view for NRPN messages and delete them or click the VST2 dropdown at the top of SI Electric Piano, go to Plug-in Properties and enable "Do Not Intercept NRPNs". Incidentally, an Instrument track is a combined MIDI and synth Audio track so you can drop the MIDI right in the Instrument track and get rid of your separate MIDI track.

  11. This is wise advice. A quick alternative to populating the background track is to shift-drag clips from take lanes into another "Background Vocal" track. Shift-drag preserves timing (CTRL-drag makes a copy, CRTL-Shift-drag does both) so in your case, just using Shift-drag will move them out of the original track (leaving holes from where you took them) so you are not confused by what remains in the original track. Quick edit - You could also construct the Lead Vocal track the same way to avoid confusion. Have the original track with all of the takes, then shift-drag clips to the appropriate (Lead or Background) track... then when you are done, everything left in the original track can safely be deleted.

  20. For your specs, I'd say to go a little higher on the power supply. I don't think they cost that much more and it just makes life easier should you add a video card. I'd say 64GB of memory. If that isn't possible, just get 2 16GBs now, and 2 later. NO on win11 HOME. Home additions are much more restrictive. Get PRO! Also, do you have current generation nvme drives? They are cheap and give you plenty of overhead..

  27. Interesting take, have you considered an acoustic Bass, perhaps a cajon for a bass/kick beat. Nice guitars like the slides. Alway remember when I saw them do this live how the initial bass drum intro made clothes move but no sound.

  29. I have played around with it for a few days and I kind of like it, but it is weird. It definitely is a high frequency saturator, but there are some shifting in the frequencies that seem a bit random. I guess that is what they talk about by it introducing real life into a static IR. I think it will be worth something in my arsenal, but it should never cost much. I think half of what you pay for it is for the GUI TBH. But a useful tool none the less. I think. I will test it on vocals and drums in a mix tomorrow.

  30. There’s no reason it would not work with Cakewalk but the deal breaker is it is only 16 bit. Both the M Audio interfaces at that price point are. See the video I just posted above for a complete overview of all the 2x 2 interfaces.

  34. Interestingly, I had Roger on my initial list but replaced him with someone else... He makes me want to yell "We came here for the music not your opinions!!!" I guess my distinction was more towards those that want everyone to look at and adore them. Roger just wants to force his opinion on everyone.

  35. I first checked out Pet Sounds because McCartney himself mentioned that it was an inspiration. I thought there were a few brilliant songs like Wouldn't It Be Nice and God Only Knows but other than the fact that both made abundant use of instruments that weren't typically associated with rock and roll, I don't think they have that much in common.

  39. Expanding on my post above, on a 5 year old laptop that was upgraded from W10 to W11, has a Celeron processor and only 4 GB RAM and a RealTek sound card, I was, after much fiddling with the settings in, well, everything, able to record audio from WMP and Media Player and from YouTube into Cakewalk by Bandlab. Set the sound card input to Stereo Mix. Set CbB to Always Open All Devices and WASAPI Shared. Of course, make sure the sound device and CbB are set to the same sampling rate. The same bit depth won't hurt, either. I don't remember the specific order I did these things. That may matter. Try it yourself. Good luck!

  40. Cakewalk by BandLab is not going anywhere anytime soon. If anything changes on that front, there would be plenty of advance notice. We have no desire to pull the rug out from anybody. All of your projects from Cakewalk by BandLab and before will all continue to be fine in the new Sonar version as well. Also as has been said in a dozen other threads, the current plan for the new Sonar pricing should be very agreeable to most folks. Nothing is fully finalized, so we can't give out details, but the team is still very hard at work on all aspects of the new version and its delivery. This is unlikely as part of the user agreement for having free CbB is that it requires you to be connected to BandLab. All that's required of this is to have access to free software is the login. That's called cracked/pirated software, aka intellectual property theft. There's some plans in the works for some of this, obviously I can't give any details at this time.
