  1. Hey everyone, just quickly wanted to let you know that I released a new plugin called BPB Dirty Filter Plus. It's an improved version of the original Dirty Filter with additional distortion modes, compression, various optimizations, and a new freely resizable GUI. https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2022/11/25/bpb-dirty-filter-plus/

  3. JRR Shop in the cart with "group". Got this tip from the big Premjj VI thread. Several resellers have it on sale. This is NOT an upgrade/crossgrade. If you dabble with orchestral I dare say - BUY IT. Keep in mind- 900 Gigs. Not sure how long the sale will last (Dec 4?) or which resellers are currently offering it! https://www.soundsonline.com/orchestral/hollywood-orchestra-opus-edition

  7. @Wookiee Thanks for the info. The product is free to download and donations are optional (simply enter $0 as the price to download for free). That said, I'll read the page you suggested to get more info about the rules. Cheers! @satyabrata satapathy Yes, joined a long time ago but I don't visit forums too often nowadays. Still, great community here!

  8. Remember to check the crossgrade prices! For example, if you have Physion you can get SplitEQ much cheaper. If you missed a crossgrade opportunity (that is, paid full price), try contacting Eventide support as soon as possible. They might be able to work out something for you. Speaking from experience, I can say that six three months later is too late.

  9. In the song notes browser the text is shown in normal typeface. When I click on text to a change text I have put there, the display flicks onto bold typeface. This is annoying because I have fixated my eyes on a certain word or point in the text, I click on that precise point and due to the typeface changing to bold the text all moves (as it's larger) and I loose my eye contact with the location. So then have to re-read my text to re-find my location and by then I've usually forgotten what I was going to add or change. I've looked through the Manuals and Theme Edior for a "switch" but can't see one.

  10. Honestly, I have to say that I totally forgot about this feature in Cakewalk until I was going through my preferences. Check it out, newbies you might be in for a surprise. To turn on this feature, go to preferences. Look under Customization and click on Display, and then click on "Enable X-Ray" near the bottom of the window. Now open a plugin, or a virtual instrument and click on it and then hold down Shift and X. This works on most Plugins and Virtual instruments.

  13. I would list Unify at the top for developers who continually add features and improvements at no additional charge to the user. Next up would be the developer of Scaler. Both very useful products that keep getting better! There may be others, but with the relatively low cost of entry combined with very active support, these get my best buy rating!

  19. I already had Waveform 11 Pro, but decided not to do the full upgrade this year as I do not need all of the Pro features. Instead I added Waveform 12 Free, plus the MIDI Producer Pack. I got that for $25 (with the discount code: FRIDAY22) and it gives me all of the MIDI tools that Waveform Pro has. https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free-expansions This year the Waveform Pro 12 features are all available in 3 separate expansion packs [Recording Engineer, MIDI Producer, Synth Pack] that you can add to Waveform Free to customize it with only the features that you need: https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free

  26. Yeah, this was the first year as of late that I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of signing up and then having to unsubscribe from the every day is a sale I don't want emails. Then there is the limited authorization of one after a year...Or using it and having to WUP when it breaks. Maybe if they gave away something cooler, I might have been tempted.

  29. Unless you're planning to play parts of the project live (eg: you have a MIDI keyboard playing VSTi synths, or you're running a guitar through an amp sim, etc.) then save yourself the headache and mix your backing tracks down to MP3 or WAV rather than playing it live in a DAW. With an i3, you don't have a lot of headroom for things to screw up, so a simple glitch might be enough to pause the audio engine and ruin your show. Now, this isn't to say Cakewalk can't be used as a live performance tool - it can and is being used for that by lots of people - but if you don't need the bells and whistles of a full DAW, I'd really recommend erring on the safe side and going as simple as possible.

  32. Yep. I think I am tapping out too. Just nothing that's grabbing me at all. I thought there would be some more cuts on the EZX for ED and EB, but of the few they offered I only got one. And one midi. That was it!! Was expecting so much more. Reminds me of a great video: Constantly Disappointed Toleration - Devine Lie

  33. Just an observation. If you're easily bored, that's your sign to skip this! I can understand. It's merely my overly analytical nature sharing an observation that I think is worth sharing. It was inspired by Jan's sharing and the pleasant way people here reacted to it, even people who've had a different, more positive experience with the software he discussed. When I look at Jan sharing his user experience -- which is obviously not a happy user experience, but it's an honest user experience --his doing that is invaluable to folks like me who are considering purchasing the same drum plugin. Sharing positive user experiences are easy, because users who love a brand appreciate it and developers appreciate it. Sharing a negative experience is much more difficult because it can result in a negative reaction. It takes more nerve to do. But the truth is, sharing that negative experience is AT LEAST as valuable -- and sometimes even more valuable -- than users sharing a good user experience. The value of Jan sharing that negative experience is really important to prospective buyers. It's a BFD (sorry, I couldn't resist) and that what makes this forum and community a BFD, differentiating it from communities like VI-Control, KVR and others that are not user-centric but developer-driven. That is, their revenue model relies on developers ad spending and that means the balance of power ends up very much on the ad spenders' side. Advertisers become prioritized over users in those environments. There's an old saying, 'If you're not paying for the product, you're the product." In these smaller online communities, there really isn't a strong focus on creating a healthy user experience and community. The focus is often also subject to the philosophy, interest and quirks of the forum owner. So toxic elements may flourish and and a healthy user community is sacrificed. Polices and policy enforcement is the key here. At the Cakewalk forum, they prioritize user/consumer experience, so we can freely share our positive and negative experiences without concerns of retribution from a developer with a low threshold for criticism (unless someone was actually naïve enough to give an angry developer a link to a critical thread; but that's not even realistic; few people are actually that stupid..). Anyhow, this is probably a dry read and of little interest to most folks, but it is my overly analytical way of saying I really appreciate this community and how Bandlab and @Wookiee ensure this is a really healthy place where people get along very well. Even when people are grumpy to one another, they usually bounce back and find a way to get along again. So, even though we're past Thanksgiving here in the US, I wanted to give thanks to people here, like Jan, and a ton of others who have the guts to share their honest experiences good and bad. The folks at Bandlab (I know, it makes me look like a total schmoozer to write that, but look at the job they do keeping out of our way and keeping developers from having power over users) and our forum moderator, Wokiee deserve our gratitude -- both keep this forum thriving without our compensation or ads. Everyone here can see that Larry is really the basis of what powers the Deals forum. IMO, there's no way we'd all be here after the original Cakewalk company went out of business if not for @cclarry Larry's hard work. But it takes a combination of all them PLUS a community of really nice, well meaning and encouraging people to make this community what it is. That's why it's my favorite online music making community united by a common love of music making -- and sample and plugin hoarding. But let's pretend I just wrote music making, because that sounds much better, right?

  39. That BFD forum is pretty depressing to read. But if you have bought BFD3, it looks like you're eligible for a free expansion pack as "a gift for migrating to the InMusic servers". Your choices are: Crush Oblivion Horsepower Jazz Noir Metal Snares Details here: BFD3 | Redeeming Your Free Expansion Pack Also, three BFD expansions are available in another form in Chocolate Audio's Drum Particles collection, still available via Audio Plugin Deals for $69. (The counter shows zero but you can still add it to the shopping cart.) It uses Chocolate Audio's own Kontakt instrument, so you are of course missing the BFD interface and all that it brings, but personally I think CA's player looks like it does the basics well enough, if you're not a drummer (YouTube walkthrough). Drum Particles contains: The Black Album ($59 as BFD XP) Modern Retro ($49) Imperial ($49) Contemporary Vintage (not available as a BFD xp, I think)

  41. Ok, I guess my standard question [in case I missed something] re the Alt-Rock ezx (which I see is "Recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio", and I am unable to find anything similar in the sdx's): Does not look like (yet?) Thomann has the Alt-Rock ezx on "CyberWeek Deal" for $21, like it does other BF ezx's . . . @Marshall I previously wound up having to purchase EZ-Bass second-hand. Got EZ-Bass and two midi packs for $99 (I guess the seller had to pay TT $45 in transfer fees 😥)

We're only releasing 100 licenses. So be sure to act fast! This deal will NOT be coming back and it will expire November 29th at midnight PST. In no time at all, Low Control will instantly help you achieve a rich, powerful and professional low end that translates across all speakers. So at this price it should be an absolute no-brainer! 43. I fairly agree! And aside from the "Entire Mix" and "Selection" problems (that I am used to nowadays) the new Export Dialog made things worse IMHO, because it added a lot of new functionality. Just look at the size of this dialog on a 15" laptop, it fills the whole screen! In this new dialog it happens very often to me that I forget to select/choose something and I have to redo the export. The old one was clearly arranged and simple in comparison! What makes things worse for me, is the fact that values are reset to the choosen preset when I reopen the dialog, although I had overwritten them before. In contrast re-opening the old dialog always had the values as you had set them in the previous call.

  48. I've got F'.em and Biotek2. Good stuff! Have tried the demos of Novum, Abyss, and Hyperion. Novum is on my wishlist. Its a niche product that is unique, powerful, and can definitely make some interesting granular and spectral sounds from one sample. 49. $5 for Loom 2? You bet! That's a no-brainer. Probably the only synth left in the AIR legacy lineup that I would consider unique enough that nothing else compares to it. Too bad they never updated the preset browser. But still quite worthwhile for an additive synth!
