  1. I'm still around...and just because I'm not logged in doesn't mean I don't read the forum! Thanx for caring and asking!

  4. I have known him to take breaks, but it looks as if maybe he quit this thread? If the intense investigation into plugin deals was getting to be too much I fully understand. I really don't think anyone did it better than him. The deals thread has managed to still keep going pretty well. I dunno, Maybe spreading the load around is going to work best? No need for one person to feel pushed and stressed. I appreciate the efforts of all here who continue to bring us great deals almost daily.

  7. I proclaim this INTERNATIONAL CCLARRY APPRECIATION DAY. No, change that to: INTERNATIONAL CCLARRY APPRECIATION WEEK. If Larry never posted another deal here, but just stayed around for the camaraderie, I think we'd all agree, he's done more than anyone else to make this forum worthwhile and be grateful for his presence here. A lot of us -- including me -- would never have stuck around here all this time (look at how many long timers don't even use Cakewalk anymore, but still come back to this section of the forum) without Larry. If there was a Forum Hall of Fame, Larry would be in on the first ballot, unanimously. That goes far beyond your great sharing of deals, we've gotten to like and care about you, Larry. I find it moving to see how many people have expressed how much they miss you in around a dozen threads since you last posted. I'm a huge believer in kindness and letting people know that you appreciate them, and Larry, you know well that I appreciate you. I just hope you take all of this in. You and I have had a number of really nice, encouraging PMs over the years, and you've told me that you see this group as family. I have spent more time at this forum than others because most of the people here are really kind. But, of course, there will always be exceptions. We just need to put them into perspective. Overall, I still think this is a great place and I have been really impressed by the outpouring of people sharing how much they like, miss and appreciate you. Of course, you know that includes me (just check your PMs here and on Facebook for confirmation!).

  12. Sorry - realize that my reply might come off as rude. But you shouldn't have to follow a link just to find out if it's something that might interest you. In this case the link posted is to an update page that still doesn't say what Ardour is until over a page length down (yeah you might guess it's a DAW but it also could be a sample manager). Ardour is an open-source DAW supporting Linux, macOS and Windows.

  15. imagine there's a few wallets that didn't miss him, but despite multiple panicked discount options, partnerships, etc, the real reason is PA's sales went so far downhill after he left that they had to bribe (recruit) him out of hiatus...(jmo).

  17. Indeed. A golden age. And there's so much great music coming out of it, especially in the various forms of electronic music. You may have these already, I can't remember, but those Plugin Alliance mega-sales are a great time to snag Unfiltered Audio's Sandman Pro bundle, which comes with both Sandman Pro and Instant Delay, and not incidentally, the insane presets that come with them. More than one of the Unfiltered Audio FX are basically delays with something happening in the loop like pitch shift or whatever. I have the whole collection, I even have Sandman, which was their first ever plug-in. This is thanks to the aforementioned PA sales, where you can often pick up one or two for free with a $20 voucher. I have a deep bench when it comes to weird delays: Surreal Machines Diffuse (got it as a freebie 5 years ago before my pivot to electronic music, I tend to forget about it, but it's kinda got a Valhalla Supermassive thing going, which is great) McDSP EC300 (another freebie, 3 delay models, insane number of presets) MDelayMB (freebie again, might see more use if it hadn't been utterly overshadowed by....) MTurboDelay (if you only want to own one delay where you'll never reach the end of what it can do, this is it) MSpectralDelay (freebie, a sweet sounding glitch-o-destructo-toy) A|A|S Objeq Delay (yet another freebie, never fails to yield fascinating results, underrated I think) D16 Sigmund (freebie, recurring theme, anyone? A sleeper, has a lot of sound design tricks up its sleeve, if you also got it as a freebie, revisit it, even more underrated) Sphere Delay (does some nice cross feedback and modulation tricks, doesn't see as much use since I acquired all these other ones. Rhymes with "Keir Dullea") T-Racks Tape Echo (still another freebie, typical excellent IK Multimedia quality, but usually shunted in favor of EC300 if I want tape delay) Unfiltered Audio Instant/Sandman Pro bundle (just go ahead and get them for free or peanuts when another PA sale comes up, they're great, with the built-in Unfiltered Audio modulators section) ValhallaFreqEcho (it's always free and has a frequency shifter in the feedback loop!) Glitchmachines Hysteresis (always free, and as with most of my beloved Glitchmachines FX, it's not for times I have a definite goal in mind but it's joy for tempo-sync'd utter weirdness) Notice how many of those monsters I got for free. Even the ones that are always free will provide hours of fun.

  21. Good to hear from you! Welcome back! If/when you start to post on here again, you should start using affiliate links. I’ve never been a fan of clicking affiliate links, but for the hard work you’ve always put in, I’d be more than happy supporting you. I’m sure others would too! or don’t… it’d be great just having you back on here

  24. We did have something that did that using an off-the-shelf algorithm to detect whether to use black text or white text, however it got it wrong so often, we abandoned it in favour of picking a standard palette that would support white text. It's worth revisiting though... maybe we can find a better algorithm or solution.

  26. I really like the arranger tabs - they're great. There's one tweak that would be nice if we can be indulgent. That is to change the colour of text in the custom arranger tabs you make because if you want to use light colour ( or bright ) background, the white text is too hard to see. Harley

  35. Clearly, the overwhelming majority of us really like and miss Larry. I do know that he's doing fine and is a very prolific poster on Facebook. Maybe he'll rejoin the group here, maybe he won't, There’s no question that Larry has been incredibly important part of this community, I think we all would love to see him back. To me, it doesn't matter if he goes back to doing non stop deal threads, but just to have him around would be nice. But we've done maybe a dozen threads like this, I don’t think they're suddenly going to make a difference.
