How typical am I of a Deals forum user! I watched this thread and wasn't in love with the demos for the Rock ezX but when Mark Stow posted that killer deal, for I think, $27USD, I was going to bite. Then I went over to Toontrack to find more info on the library and logged in to look at the libraries I own only to find I already own it! Oh well, I did learn to check Thomann for future Toontrack deals. Thanks @Mark Stow!2 points

As a rule, all audio should ultimately pass through the master bus and the master bus should be the only source of audio data coming out of the DAW to the main monitor inputs of the audio interface.2 points

By that measure, I'm on an equal footing with thousands of successful band members with recording contracts and hit records. Actually, I'm doing better, having netted well over a dime just this weekend. Thanks for that pep talk, OJ.2 points

I just ran into this while browsing VI-Control: Looks like they currently only have jazz drums for sale, but you can get the full bundle for $27.50* with the code. The bundle contains two loop collections and a Kontakt** instrument. https://authentic-soundware.com/products VI-Control thread * They use FastSpring, so add VAT & currency conversion if applicable. For me the price is 35.67 € inc. 24% VAT ** Requires version 6.7.0 or later of the full retail version of Kontakt. Does not support the free Kontakt Player.1 point

If you watch the tutorial video, you set the style and/or pattern by pressing a keyswitch, then hold a note down and the virtual guitarist plays the selected "melody" in that key/chord. UJAM added the Instrument Mode to the version 2 virtual guitarists, where you can play the notes yourself. As far as I can tell, only VG-Carbon (technically a "version 2") and VG-Iron 2 have this ability. I also have VG-Sparkle, and it does NOT have Instrument Mode. The Virtual Bassists all have an Instrument Mode. Edit: another feature that UJAM added to virtual guitars in v2 was the MIDI pattern drag and drop that allows you to move patterns from the instrument UI to your DAW track. The virtual basses have this as well. The interesting thing about this feature is that the MIDI pattern is transposed to the note you are playing/holding at the time you click-drag the pattern out. Very cool!1 point

Probably an unavoidable nature of the beast. Sounds like it's using a single 'voice' to play the new note, and cutting of the release of the previous one in a way that's creating a discontinuity in the signal. Zooming in on the bounced/frozen waveform should show that. I'm not sure offhand how much the SI Bass attack and timbre changes with velocity, but you might mitigate it by using lower event velocities and raising the gain/volume to get the desired loudness.1 point

Thanks. It's been a slow process getting back up to speed from Sonar to CbB, but it will be worth it.1 point

YouTube has a lot of helpful beginner content, much of which was created by your soon-to-be new friends right here on this here forum. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=cakewalk+tutorial This Deals subforum is just for helping us all spend money we don't have on things we don't need, so I'm going to move this thread to the Q&A subforum in the interest of tidiness and organization. Plus you should know that those of us who hang out here are, um, stricken by the heartbreak of G.A.S. and don't always exhibit the best judgement.1 point

This is very well done - have to admit never heard of Agnes Obel so had to look her up!! Glad I did. Your cover sounds pretty close to the original with some really nice strings and a very good mix Excellent Nigel1 point

"...the drummer who lost his front man and the front man who lost his drummer." Plus he just lost his mom. I guess, as Ringo sang, you gotta pay yer dues if you wanna sing the blues. Yet Dave always seems so upbeat and genuinely happy to be a working musician. At least if he dies it'll be from falling off a stage, not mental health issues.1 point

Wow, that is a great deal. I wish I could appreciate those drum sounds more though. I love most Toontrack kits, but this one doesn't really sound that great to me. But I'll be watching Thomann Music for future Toontrack deals. I'm still using SD 2 and own the first version of ezDrummer, so I did contemplate picking up their upgrade when I saw it was $75 or $79 USD. Otherwise, with SD2 running fine I was hoping that Toontrack will once again offer upgrade pricing for past customers when they release SD4. EDIT: It turns out that I already own the ezX! I just don't use it very much.1 point

It's not Pro Tools, Cubase, or Logic, LOL! It's Waveform. Love it or hate it, it's rather different, but functional enough for a musician.1 point

Holy crap, was I beat when my head finally hit the pillow early this morning. Yesterday was a record-breaking 3-Mocha day. That's three Starbucks Iced Mochas in one day. I should have been bouncing of the walls, as I normally don't drink caffeine. We've really been gigging too much this summer, I think. The band's pretty tight now, but we're at that stage where it's all becoming rote muscle-memory. I'll catch my mind wandering mid-song, admiring a hot waitress, wondering if the forecast rain will hold off until after loadout, how I should feel about Pell grant recipients getting a $20,000 break on college tuition, and whether another Chernobyl-class nuclear disaster might be imminent. And then a brief panic when I suddenly realize that a) I've forgotten what song we were playing, b) I think I'm supposed to be soloing now, and c) how come we don't have a single jam in Am? I'll have to bring that up at next rehearsal.1 point

Select All ( CTRL A ) Hold down CTRL again and click on the drum track to un select. You don't want to transpose drums or percussion. Now with all the music tracks selected press "N" to open the transpose dialogue and choose the amount. Be warned that transposing too far in either direction can result in some instruments sounding wrong or even some notes not sounding because you put them out of range. You might have to go into that instrument in PVR and transpose certain notes up or down an octave. I have a tutorial about working with downloaded midi files. 105- Importing MIDI files. https://youtu.be/lKDfq-hTb7U1 point

The crazy electric FX sound is with sustain verb/delay (cakewalk stock) on a saturation distortion (cakewalk stock) with compression to bring harmonics out playing a copper finger slide on a strat. The simple riff guitar at start is plucking two strings together with compression and Verb on the Cakewalk TH3, all stock plugins less the Compression Autoformer i used. I love sound design, it gives me more ideas when im making sounds for production. I record my vocals, guitars and bass round -12 and never go over -9 so i get a warmer sounding recording so it doesn't feel stressed. I always think its about finding a sound you like and we normally like other peoples sounds more than our own. Phil1 point
