  1. I can already see the teaser campaign........ Are you fed up with having all that stuff to play with ? Could that be the real reason that you're not a global megastar ? Wouldn't it be somehow better if you had knack all ? You spoke and we listened..... Welcome to Presonus Studio None.

  8. As a programmer, I can concede that in (very) rare cases a new feature might need to negate and old feature. But to just take a way a feature from your user base without confirmation that it's not used at all is utterly insane.

  15. Norway I got back from Sweden and Norway a couple of weeks ago with thousands of pictures and videos of fjords and villages and churches etc etc. I was going to jump in and make a music video from my Norway images, but I came down with Covid a day after I returned. Until a couple of days ago I felt like crap - coughing and nausea and fever, but the worst was a sore throat that discouraged eating and drinking. And yeah, I'm fully vaccinated but I think I got the newer variant that manages to get by the vaccine. Hope you're all doing okay. -Bjorn

  17. Back in 2015, I demoed a bunch of DAWs and my short list was down to Cakewalk and Studio One. I found a deal for S1 Producer and went with that and haven't looked back. It wasn't really anything specific. I found I kept comparing any other DAW I demoed to S1. The workflow was intuitive and worked for me.

  20. There could never be a DAW that is easy to use by everyone, because people learn in different ways and on various levels. For one person to pick up stretching audio rather easily, it could be a nightmare for someone else to learn and vice versa. Even if the DAW's manual was one page and it had the simplest of functions for use, someone would still have a problem learning a feature.

  21. I have a feeling that the majority of music software users are NOT musicians. If you look at the changes taking place in all the major titles they all veer towards the non-musician...loop browsers, EZ this EZ that, AI, blah blah blah. The main reason I jumped ship from Cakewalk to Cubase was just this...but it's starting to affect all music software. Hopefully all that will come of this is an idiot version of Studio One for those not interested in learning anything about music in the first place! Bill

  25. Full interview, he says it’s not about to change at the pro level, just a more accessible entry point: ‘Question: Would this accessible software be based on the Studio One platform? Note the wording implies that it would not be Studio One, but something different. "Yes, I think for that with Fender one of the things I think we did well over the last few years is to create easily explainable platforms; where you can go from Squier Affinity to Mexican-made Fender Player to American Pro to Ultra. People understand what they're getting at each level and why they're paying a step up in price. I think what we need with Studio is the same thing. Which is there's a very simple, free, freely accessible product, then levels above that until eventually you get to the pro level, that’s easier said than done.’

  26. Maybe with a source, it would bring more nuance: ‘Whether this theoretical product would replace Studio One or sit alongside it remains to be seen but, given what Mooney has in mind, we suspect it would be the latter.’ https://www.musicradar.com/news/fender-daw-presonus-studio-one-future

  33. I've been wanting to do a prog project for a long time but wouldn't because it seemed to me a project like that would require outside players even though I play guitar, drums, and keys. Somewhere along the way I said the hell with it and I'm doing what I want! Right now I'm working on my third album and each album pushes me closer and closer to a true prog release. This one is more guitar oriented instead of keys like the first two. So far I have four pieces ready to mix and about 23-25 to finish I even have the album cover done and the artwork for the back cover done....just need to fill in the text! As a "one man band" it's both rewarding and difficult doing everything yourself. I just built a new machine- ASUS ProArt Z690 Creative Wi-Fi board, i9 12900k, 128gb Ram(DDR5), yadda yadda...Motu Midi Express XT, Presonus Quantum 2626. Runs anywhere from 2ghz to 5ghz depending on the load. Got 2 out of 4 M2's in(1tb OS, 2tb Audio drive) and 4 sata hdd....I can either throw 2 more M2's in or 4 more sata drives, or 1 more M2 and the 4 more sata drives!! If I can't make music now it's not the hardware or softwares fault Bill

  34. there are always some bug fixes. we updated the compiler so needed to push the latest redist as well. Shouldn't be any compat issues. I also did it because I originally thought it would address the error 20 issue. That turned out to be something completely environmental and not related to our code. But I've worked around it with the help of a couple of forum users.

  35. You are correct, which is exactly my point. I use Studio One, among others, but sounds like Fender wants a new pre-entry level offering, like Tracktion or GarageBand used to be. I don't see any cause for concern here, he said, hopefully.

  37. Sincerely, when I read that it sounded like he was repeating the typical kind of line you hear from a CMO (chief marketing officer). When a CEO sits down with a journalist, PR sets it up. Yes, it would be completely unsurprising if the CEO isn't very tech savvy, but everything about that line reflects that the CEO is hinting at something already in development. You can bet that they're going to be making a product announcement in the near future otherwise the CEO would never have made that statement-- he'd be ripping on his own company's product. There is a chance that they could abandon the existing product line, but I seriously doubt that. I think it's a very good sign that they're investing in their DAW.

  38. You seem to me to be falling victim to - the best word I can think of is numberitis. Looking at bare numbers on a spec sheet. Bare numbers don't tell you the whole story. The whole 20Hz - 20kHz range of human hearing is purely theoretical. Not only can nobody with any significant number of years behind them can really hear to those extremes, there really isn't much useful information towards the extremes anyway. You are much better off with a good microphone with a frequency range of "only" 30Hz - 15kHz than a crappy one with the whole 20 - 20K. Forget spec sheets. What do your ears tell you?

  39. I did not take his words to mean they were getting rid of pro but trying to create entry point that is usable without reading an actual manual. The strategy in the past was to give out an an "entry level" version of the pro version which requires you to have an understanding of the pro product to use but with less features. The core is identical but has locked features and less auxillary content. A DAW is going to be pretty hard to document in a manual less than 150 pages considering all the hardware products it replaces. Take every manual to every hardware console, processor, effect etc and you are still going to have a lot of documentation. For many of us, most if the manual is redundant. Most of us don't need a manual on an EQ and will simply start using from day 1. Fender, like other hardware manufacturers in the past make the fatal mistake when getting into software business of trying to recreate nostalgia of the "good ol days" of buying a 4 track and having a few friends plug into a cheap mixer in the garage. The truth is the customer base is too diverse for that to work.

  45. Only another 22 minutes to go then 😉 And at least some of those need to be in 9/8 time. Sounds like a great project. Prog is seriously difficult - it's just so 'complex' and multi-layered - that's one reason why I love listening to it. Oh and don't forget to include the 'Genesis chord' (Fmaj/B flat). Good luck with it - can't wait to have a listen Andy

  47. We're talking about a physical mod wheel on a controller keyboard, right? In most cases, moving the the mod wheel in the synth UI will not generate MIDI output that can be recorded, and it would require a special setup to captuer and route it correctly if it did. So, assuming we're talking about a physical mod wheel, recording modulation events and getting them to control the desired synth parameter are two different tasks. If you're not able to record modulation events from your keyboard at all, it has nothing to do with what synth the track is driving or whether MIDI learn is working. And you don't need to set up a controller lane in advance to record controllers from a physical mod wheel on a keyboard/controller. Assuming you can record MIDI notes from your keyboard, then port and channel assignments are correct, and the only thing that would prevent controllers being recorded would be that the box to enable recording of Controlllers in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recoridng has been unchecked (it's enabled by default). If it's checked, you don't even need to have a synth set up to arm a MIDI track and record notes and controllers. Then, when you double click the MIDI track to open it in the PRV, and show the Controller pane, the mod wheel events will be displayed automatically. So the first task is to get recording of controllers working, and then we can worry about whether the synth is responding to them as expected.
