  9. And I still think that they would want to know your system's specs, especially what GPU you're using. Also, when reporting issues with Cakewalk reading media files, grab a copy of MediaInfo (everyone should get it anyway, so useful) so that you can see what kind of CODEC's were used to create the file, frame rate, etc.

  12. I have no issues with TRacks. It gets the job done. And Amplitube I use a lot. What would be nice of IKM for existing TRacks users is to maybe throw in other items we can pick from in the Amplitube or MODO collection. But then I understand, that sort goes contra to the TRacks GB promo campaign. @Peter - IK Multimedia I dont get the ARC System 3 in the GB. This is without the MEMS mic but the same price is with the MEMS mic outside the GB.

  13. I would somewhat agree here. However, the Syntronic stuff just sounds so good!! I just went through (actually, still in the midst of it) trying to get all my Instruments setup properly. But for the price I paid for it, I won't complain. I bought Syntronik 1 Deluxe in a group buy. I paid much less than retail for it because of JP. Then I got all the synths I didn't have before plus some other stuff ( I just can't remember all the stuff I get in these GB!). Now IK comes out with Syntronik 2 and I am able to get the free version, buy a $50 synth to enter the GB, and I got it all now! I am in a win win situation!! Could have IK done a better job with the installers? Sure as heck could have (I am being very kind here). No doubt about it. But I am willing to cut them some slack as long as they keep giving these great deals!!

  14. Saying "this works in X app" is kind of meaningless, really. That's great that it does, but all that says is "that app has a different rendering engine" or "it makes these particular codecs I'm using available to it" rather than saying "Cakewalk does NOT render THIS particular clip, and here are the specs." It's easy to assume on the surface that it's a similar app so it must work in a similar way but it's rarely the case. Codecs can vary GREATLY from video to video. Even an MP4 is just a container that could have all kinds of different stuff in it, and then going even more granular, let's say that it's a h.264 MP4, sometimes just having the frame rate as VFR rather than CFR can cause all sorts of problems, even in dedicated video workstation apps. Switching the rendering engine in CbB can help with certain types of video but will absolutely break other types. It's actually quite complex. Video view definitely does need an overhaul, I absolutely agree with that. From what I gather, the video part is mostly unchanged for a VERY long time, and I'd almost guarantee that's due to the layers of complexity I mentioned above. Adding in things like tempo tracks and arranger tracks and all of that stuff extends on the functionality that CbB already has built-in. Working more with video involves many more third-party libraries and low-level integration. Go have a look at the Vegas forums, for example, and you can see what a nightmare this is even with a dedicated video app. That all said, I've had great results with h.264 720p AVC MP4 files, and this is using them to score hour+ long live show mixes. It's definitely frustrating not being able to crop or move the start time, however, but I treat this in the way where it was first introduced - it's a preview to score to, and then you export that mix and import it into a proper video editor. It wouldn't surprise me if there's a to-do list for this stuff already in place, but realistically looking at priorities, those of us (myself included) that actually use the video view as compared to the general functions like articulations/tempo/arranger/UI, etc. that most people would be using in a DAW, and adding in the can of worms this is going to open once they do give it an overhaul, I'd say it's taking a while to make it up through the priorities list.

  16. I didn't see this posted already (and even searched), so I'll share it, even though I figure it's already been posted. Sweetwater is offering an extra 10% on gift cards through 6/21. This can be applied to software and hardware, with only 8 brands excluded. https://www.sweetwater.com/shop/gift-cards/ Bonus: GearFest (upcoming in a couple of weeks) often has special prices on items, but you have to call in (or attend in non-Covid years) to get the deals. So if something you want is on sale and you can get it during GearFest with the 10% bonus gift card, you can get a really great deal. I've done this a few times in previous years.

  17. It is at 7 for the price of 1 already, and we're not even near the top number of what Joe Chiccarelli Vocal Strip's potential. I think calling it on day one is kind of humorous.

  20. Wow, another one?? I'm still sorting through all the plugins I picked up from last year's GB, and I have almost everything now. I'm wondering what the strategy is with all of these GBs. Maybe to get a pile more users then push out an update?

  22. If I recall correctly the car was originally called the Tri Nova. According to the story it was a cursed name because Tri Nova translated from Spanish to 3 No Go, a bad luck name. But according to some sources on the web that's not true because that's a bad Spanish translation (wrong verb for that expression). Or how about when SaveOn drugs got bought out and changed their name to Osco Drugs (phonetic for terrible or gross drugs). At least in Southern California it was quickly changed back as hispanic customers (a large % of their business) refused to shop in their renamed stores. per Wikipedia: The name "Osco" did not resonate well with Sav-on's Southern California customer base. American Stores eventually made the decision to change the name of the former Sav-on stores back to Sav-on Drugs. Rumors circulated at the time claiming that the reason for the name change back to ‘Sav-on’ was due to "Osco" having the same pronunciation as the Spanish word "asco" (oss-ko), which means "nausea" or "disgust", a considerable factor within Southern California's heavily Hispanic market. This explanation for the name change was refuted by American Stores.

  23. Based on what I'm seeing (from current adopters), those pushing for CLAP are developers pushing the limits of polyphonic parameter modulation. I'm certainly not against it... but that's not the vast majority of developers and end-users. Look at MPE support with hardware instruments. I'm all for it... but many folks use MIDI controllers without channel-aftertouch... let alone polyphonic. What is Avid going to gain by supporting CLAP? Keep in mind they never adopted VST as a plugin standard.

  24. They SHOULD just take the "L" out of the acronym and call it "CAP", which even makes a good file extension, but hey, what do I know?

  28. I don't think so. IMHO their authorization and installation system is sooo cumbersome that I abstain from such deals. I have some Amplitube stuff that I like, but the Syntronik stuff I have is for nothing! Also the few T-Rack items I have, I never use them! Anyway, I prefer to cherry-pick the plugins I want and I dislike those collections with a lot of rubbish that I never install or use.

  29. In IK's inimitable fashion, that's who this is intended for...and I would say there won't be that many "new" customers, and the only way to REALLY get the "whole enchilada" is to get Chiccarreli at $160 ( - Jampoints if you have them) which will keep most people out. As I said, I have them all already, as do most people, especially those who did the 3.5 Max Upgrade...so it's really pointless, unless you really want duplicates. The ONLY reason that it is where it is NOW is because those who ALREADY bought Chiccarelli are entered automatically, making it "appear" to be zipping along, but it's not...

  30. Yeah. It just ain't the sale for me. I agree with Peter. It's already going strong. They seem to have gotten their $izz together (for the first time!!) and have laid out the page in a very understanding way. For $99.99 if it goes all the way, you would get 43 really outstanding plugins for little over two bucks a piece!! ($2.32). That alone will keep the ball rolling IMHO. No need to buy in twice like previous GB. Next tier down is the $79 tier. If it goes all the way you get 22 plugins for $3.63. If these were throw away plugins, I can see it not going all the way. But there ain't a dud in the bunch. It will get there. For new IK T- Racks users, this is an absolutely fantastic deal. For all of us here who have almost all of them, we just po'd because it don't do us no good!! LOL :) [edit] I forgot to add in the discount of Jam Points!!! $99.99 - 30JP = $70 (69.99). That changes it too 43 plugins for $1.63 per plugin. 79.99 - 24JP= $55.99. That's $2.54 per plugin.

  35. Just installed. My 2 cents: - be aware that this v 2.0 overwrite v 1.0 files. - cab section is a huge improvement - knobs (gain, output, ..) keep their position during amp listing - buy license/trial silence is annoying as always Reaper: - v 1.0 took 0.7% without cab - v 2.0 take 1.9% without cab ( V. Taranov SlowRunner 1.9%, Fuchs Overdrive Supreme 0.7%, ) - v 2.0 take 3.7% with internal cab - Undo (Ctrl+Z) is working with a little crackling but even with that issue is better than nothing (Amplitube) Nice freebie, like it and keep it.

  44. Even worse, in 2001 Honda were to launch a car named Honda Fitta, which in Swedish means… hm, I’m not even going to tell you. But good luck trying to sell a car with that name there! According to the car magazine Auto Motor & Sport, press releases had already been distributed in Japan with catch phrases such as “Honda Fitta is small on the outside but big once you've entered” and "Honda Fitta is a daily pleasure". When Honda had been made aware of the implications, the car ended up being called Honda Fit in Japan and Honda Jazz in Europe. And all the brochures that were already printed had to be thrown away. So indeed, there are many languages to consider in world-wide marketing.

  46. Terrible name... (What were they thinking?) While I have no doubt about the benefits, it's hard to bump an industry standard plugin format. Bitwig and U-he are the only "major" software/plugin vendors currently onboard. Bigger companies are going to be reluctant to make a change. Unless the entire industry adopts "CLAP" (that just sounds wrong), it's over before it's begun.
