  9. Back around 2000 when I was just starting on my PhD work, I got the chance to work with the PhD who created these light & sound goggles: I've got one along with about a dozen of the glasses that each use different colored LED's. Several pairs are considered "experimental medial devices" by the FDA because they're twice as strong as they legally should be! The device has two outputs (for both light and sound) so that couples could use the device at the same time. (More info here if you're curious about the device: https://www.photosonix.com/products/nova-pro-100/ ) Anyway, the usual goggles had four LED's right in front of each eye (you wear these with your eyes closed and the LED's blink). The different colors cause different effects and, after awhile, are not strong enough (in my not so humble opinion!). So we doubled up the number of LED's and used both light outputs! I still have and use these; they are AWESOME! (Especially while using certain "plant medicines!" 🤩 ) Anyway, when we started the project, we were limited in what colors we could use and I was bummed that my favorite color (blue) wasn't available... Then I got an excited call from the guy saying he had access to some from someplace in Japan! I never made the connection before, but I wonder if it was from the same company! I was VERY happy to get both some blue LED's as well as white. My favorite pair of goggles has blue in the middle surrounded by white. 😊

  22. The groundhog smelled spring but not a lick of these folks. Loose lips sink ships, but after missing the holiday season and NAMM from a June announce, and dropping a prompt to go online and see that there's nothing to see about the new SONAR, I feel they should speak now or risk losing me and others to other DAWs where there is a healthy exchange between users and devs. Kinda like it used to be here...

  25. I started a fresh project last week, hand-planted a click track in the PRV to drive the TTS-1, and chose a Kontakt library to serve as the voice for a basic guide track. But when it came time to record said guide track, I couldn't record any MIDI. I switched to a different keyboard controller to see if I'd screwed up something in my main synth's configuration (I have a special setup for live music and have to reconfigure for recording). Still no MIDI coming in. Checked my Sonar MIDI settings but couldn't see any problems there, which was expected given that I never change it. Tried a different soft synth just in case it was Kontakt being weird, but that wasn't it, either. Could my trusty Focusrite be at fault? Geez, I hoped not. But this is my third interface, the previous two having died, so that was a possibility. But I needed to exhaust every other possibility before making that leap. I am running a beta version of Sonar, so as with a brand-new car anything's possible. But an older version yielded the same results, so it wasn't that, either. So I did what I always do when I'm stumped: lit up a bowl and stared at the screen while drawing a MIDI flowchart in my mind. At each potential point of failure, I mentally drew a red X over each one that had already eliminated, until almost every possibility had been accounted for. Almost. The only thing left was the line drawn between the synth and the interface. "No way", I said to myself. MIDI cables don't break. Well, it turns out that sometimes they do.

  27. For those of us with multiple monitors, I found this great AutoHotkey script. I often have multiple windows, plugins, etc. open on the monitors. When I want to work on a plugin, etc. I often prefer it on the main monitor, so I would drag it to the main monitor, then drag it back when done. Kind of tedious. This little script will center the active window on the main monitor (Alt+q), then Alt+w will move it back to its original position. So now I just have to click on the Window I want to work on, press Alt+q, then press Alt+w when done to put it back where it was. Great timesaver for me. Note: You can specify any key combinations you prefer - just be careful that you don't use something already reserved for Cakewalk, Windows, etc. Center active window and move back.ahk

  29. The strong point is their plugins. Everything else Waves sucks. So far their quality overrides their crap business model. At some point hopefully that ends since there is so much out there with superior licensing.

  30. I have a bunch of Waves plugins but it's kind of scattered .What happens I guess when I nibble on those sales I didn't have a unified package other than Horizon. None of that has been wuped in forever. To WUP only Horizon is 240.00 and that leaves probably 30 more plugins. The upgrade may cover a few and leave holes for the others. Having said that, as someone else commented. It all works. Never had a Waves plugin crash my DAW. They are good plugins and I don't think it's fair to imply they are all dinosaurs. Many have updated interfaces and functions. Prolly the biggest hurdle for me is going through all of them. Waves needs a meta search.

  32. Do you have the snap turned on? I always turn off snap when things won’t go were I want them to go. But generally, especially drums, you want it to snap to the grid. the exception is songs that were not recorded to the clock. Then those projects need the snap turned off for sure. Songs recorded to the clock will sound sloppy if notes are out of time. Especially drums and bass.

  39. Assuming you want everything to be on their respective bars/beats as well as their absolute start times, you need to do the following (after aligning the first clip to the video): - Snap the Now time to the beginning of that first clip (assuming it's cropped to the first audio transient), and SM/BAN that point to the nearest measure (probably 2:01:000). Don't worry that this is going to temporarily throw the timeline wildly out of sync with the rest of the project, initially. - If there is a clip in the project starting at some known bar, snap the Now time to that clip and SM/BAN it to the bar it should be hitting (+1 if you started at 2:01). If there are no easily-found audio/MIDI 'landmarks in the the piece, play the project, count out 8 measures, and stop the tranport near the downbeat that should be 9:01. Tab to the downbeat transient (or MIDI note) or visually set the Now time there with snap disabled, and SM/BAN that to 10:01 (assuming you started at 2:01). - If the audio was recorded to a click, the whole thing should now be in sync with the timeline. If it varies, you can set additional points as needed to get the timeline in sync everywhere. - If you want the first measure to be at the same tempo as the first measure of music, you can set a matching tempo at 1:01:000 without affecting anything that happens after the point you snapped in the first step. The one issue I foresee is if the start time is very shortly after 1:01:000, CbB won't be able to set a high enough tempo for the first measure to bring 2:01 back to that absolute time. In that case, you might need to set the meter of the first measure to 1/4, and change it back to 4/4 (or whatever it is) at 2:01.

  42. @User 905133 Companies update their websites all the time and many use such opportunities to upgrade their security systems (password databases, add captcha, etc.) and/or add new features to their web site(s). For most companies this does not mean that they've been hacked, just that they are updating things. re: "The "Forgot Password" option requires the use of the current password." 'Change Password' requires current password, 'Forgot Password' does not - perhaps you're choosing the wrong option? If you're still having issues go to https://help.pluginboutique.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=8800811277844 and submit a ticket. 43. Quick resource post for this guy. Lost Marble posted a very nicely presented and segmented video course on YouTube (sans ads, which absolutely rules) that can be found here. With the manual for Moho 14 switching to a wiki-style format (no pdf), the video course may be a quicker alternative to learning Moho 14. **** Side note for people who have been playing with graphics bundles posted recently. Most programs allow saving into psd formats, and using layers allows for much quicker jump-starts with animation tools. Unfortunately, Rebelle 7 still has issues with saving as psd formats due to all of the new goodies, so layers need to be extracted separately. Although Rebelle 7 warns you that psd formats "may not display properly" in other programs, I have found the new layers types added with Rebelle 7 make them unreadable for transfer as a psd file. Hopefully that one will get ironed out in the coming months. The issue with Rebelle and psd formatting is addressed a few posts down in this thread. It is due to psd compression that is being used and can be shut off in preferences.

  44. Have you tried setting the clips time-base to absolute before locking them? This should lock the start time to their absolute time in seconds/samples. While they're in musical time, they will move in "real time" because their musical position remains unchanged, even though the actual time in seconds changes due to the change in tempo.

  45. Barry . . . it starts with that AM radio broadcast, then the vocals come in accentuating those very same AM radio frequencies., probably too much 1-5K. @garybrun suggestion will help this a lot. Interesting that the lyrics are all so clear to understand, but not pleasing to the ear in that middle range, it's a delicate balance. It is a bit different for you, more synth driven, than guitar driven . . . good song idea, and really liked the lyrics . . . fix that vocal mix, and you've got another winner !
