  4. Yes, I consult to this company, but I'm a user of this stuff and find this advancement of the plugin a fascinating evolution. That walkthrough video gives you a good idea. As far as the concern over file sizes that satya expressed, that is something I would like to explore with the SoundPaint (8Dio) folks. Their roots are serving pros and making very detailed libraries, and that, of course, results in very large file sizes. But my instincts are that there's a fair amount of hobbyists who want "deep sampled" libraries to a certain degree, but not necessarily at the same degree as pros. Even more, when you look at SoundPaint’s mission of bringing high end, deep sampled libraries at a very low price point, it's very likely to attract many hobbyist users on a tight budget who likely can't afford huge file sizes (that is, the storage devices for large libraries, which can quickly add up). For example, a pro composer or a hobbyist perfectionist may insist upon pedal up and pedal down samples for piano libraries, a lot of velocity layers and mic options and is okay with the resulting very large file size -- let's say 25 GB for this example --whereas a hobbyist may not want to sacrifice the large amount of file space that detail requires and be willing to make compromises to keep the file size under 10GB. That's why I think it's a really good idea when SoundPaint offers customers the option of Ultra Deep Sampled libraries versus standard definition (okay, I'm not sure if that's the exact name they use, but that's the idea). I think it would be ideal to offer that for more libraries once they hit a certain file size. I think there's also a psychological factor that comes from the developer radically bringing down prices on deep sampled libraries. It results in hobbyists who've never considered libraries at this quality level and file sizes and may be resistant to larger file sizes -- especially given the price. I think it's worth conducting research to find out how important all of this is to the various customer groups they serve. I'd be very interested in getting people's thoughts on this, so please share your thoughts. I promise to make the SoundPaint folks aware of them.

  11. That’s the thing, I read about people issues daily and it always comes back to it’s not an issue with Cakewalk, It’s almost always something caused by a plug in or computer , hardware issues For sure it still has a few weird little bugs but those are so on the very fringe of what the majority of users would even be aware of. I spend a lot of time working in Cakewalk and last time I had a crash was 100 % because of a plug in. I have never had any issues ever outside of plug in issues. The latest version of Cakewalk is BETTER than the last version because they fixed the bugs they were aware of. The rest we are told will be addressed with Sonar. And as we speak there’s an army of people swatting any bugs that they find there. So holding out on the last release is only based on miss information you have gathered. I’m also in the middle of dozens of important projects and I updated to make sure I was using the BEST version. Having backup copies of all my projects is more important than thinking upgrading software is dangerous .

  16. I only have their Wurli 145B library, but it's top notch and has a gorgeous sound. It's meticulously sampled and the user interface and capabilities of the library are superb. You can easily dial in various characteristics, such as dirt, vibrato and various effects to create your own presets. If I wasn't on a tight budget, I'd buy this. I'll definitely buy more of their libraries in the future.

  21. Nice of the developer to give this away free. It sounds like a Wurli in some respects, but as a massive Wurli fan, it's just okay. I realize the developer doesn't promote this as an authentic Wurli simulation but an analog synth trying to emulate a Wurli, which seems appropriate. But I'm not completely in love with the tone (it's not bad, it just hints at a real Wurli enough to make me want to use a real Wurli sample library instead). The developer has another plugin, I think it's called Reed 200A, that comes a lot closer to the Wurli that I think sounds much better. Of course, it also comes at a price that's significantly higher than free.

  26. One other thing you could try... I've found that having lots of small MIDI clips on a track eats up way more CPU than a single MIDI clip on the track. If you've got lots of smallish MIDI clips, try consolidating them into one by selecting them and "Bounce to Clip(s)".

  27. Cakewalk by BandLab is not going anywhere anytime soon. If anything changes on that front, there would be plenty of advance notice. We have no desire to pull the rug out from anybody. All of your projects from Cakewalk by BandLab and before will all continue to be fine in the new Sonar version as well. Also as has been said in a dozen other threads, the current plan for the new Sonar pricing should be very agreeable to most folks. Nothing is fully finalized, so we can't give out details, but the team is still very hard at work on all aspects of the new version and its delivery. This is unlikely as part of the user agreement for having free CbB is that it requires you to be connected to BandLab. All that's required of this is to have access to free software is the login. That's called cracked/pirated software, aka intellectual property theft. There's some plans in the works for some of this, obviously I can't give any details at this time.

  29. You're getting closer Gary. I'm happy where the backing vocals sit. Hopefully some more folks will chime in. Couple of thoughts: 1) I'd like a bit more level on the snare, but as you often say "we all paint different pictures". 2) In the last run through the chorus, in the outro, the lead guitar does some "unison bends" (ala Jimi Hendrix) and they have all but disappeared in this last mix. I'd pull those back up! Overall 👍's. Anxiously awaiting the final mix! t

  33. +1. The color mode sounds like a ton of fun to play with. It might actually get me back to spending some time with Soundpaint. I moved the standalone program icon to a seldom accessed folder and forgot about it. Maybe it's time to bring it back to the desktop.

  34. Yes, reinstalling the interface driver could possibly help... As far as your other question “Could this be a prob of too heavy of a project”, no one can answer that without knowing: Has this issue just started happening? Version of Cakewalk and WIndows PC Specs CPU, Ram ETC Plugins and synths used Driver mode (ASIO or WASAPI) If using ASIO, using native ASIO drivers, not ASIO4ALL or similar wrapper? Bit depth, sample rate, sample buffer size Etc.

  38. I get along with the guitar better than I do with piano. I can play things on the keys, but I can't do that left-hand bass+comp and right-hand melody. Probably because I haven't taken the many hours it takes to achieve that. I can sing and play bass or guitar, though, even though that also consists of doing two different things at once. But one is voice, and one with hands, not different things on each hand. I suppose most of the guitarists and pianists on this board are better than me, but my main axe is sax. Even on that, what I've learned through the years is there is always someone better than me, and always someone worse. It doesn't matter, it isn't a contest. I suppose my gigging era will end before I die, if I live long enough. Rap is now over 35 years old, and when rap becomes mainstream for the adult market, it'll be time to hang up my spurs. All eras end sooner or later. Insights and incites by Notes ♫
