  1. Hello gang and thanks for all the deals posted. I've kept quiet all this time but now that it's mostly all over, this thread seemed like a good "wind down" from the mania 😅 The intensity peaked today when I received the credits from Melda for sending them recordings of my guitars (5 x 30 credits). And so I embarked on a thrilling journey! It was helped along by the obligatory 20% referral code and the timely release of the Humble Bundle with the 25% code, although I'm not entirely sure that I got the maximum value from it. Still, going from 2 free plugins to MCompleteBundle in one day was fun!

  3. I'm a little bit ashamed, but I have a feeling some of y'all are underreporting. So here's everything I bought in the enitre month of november (if I went with BF itself I would have bought nothing). I've marked everything I planned with a (P). Cableguys Reverbshaper Orchestral Tools Conduit TheNatan Xeight2 D16 Repeater (P) Minimal Audio soundpacks Universal Audio LA2A (P) Universal Audio Signature Edition Safari Pedals Gorilla Drive (P) Kingsway Music Aaron Paris Vol 1 (P) Retrohandzmusic Essential Afro house Navie D Boom Bap Box (P) Basicwavez Bass Lab vol 2 (P) Audioreakt Solid Techno Kicks 2 (P) Imaginando VS (P) Devious Machines upgrade all (P) Fabfilter Pro-R 2 PML Everything 2023 (P) Waves Clarity vx, Vocal Bender & Soundshifter (P) Goodhertz Trem Control (P) Teletone Audio Le Gibet (P) Teletone Tympo (P) The Drum Broker samples BF 2023 (P) Tracktion F'em So about 65% was planned. In my defense, some of the unplanned stuff are new releases (Reverbshaper, Xeight2, Conduit, Pro-R2), so they have nothing to do with BF. If they were launched in january I would have gotten them then. And roughly 30% of what I bought are sample packs. The single most expensive thing on the list (PML Everything 2023) was €196 and is almost entirely samples. Couple of preset packs also. The UA Signature edition is the largest unplanned purchase at €145. But I think no-one is denying that's a great bargain. In total I spent little under €1250. I also spent around €700 on hardware. No discount, so not BF related. But it is the time of the year for bonusses / 13th month etc. So I had some room.

  4. If my Excel sheet is correct, and it probably isn't because I'm dumb af, and after some additional software purchases today, over this sales season I saved just over $3500 (around 54% and not including hardware I bought) vs. buying at various sale prices throughout the year. The biggest savings vs. total cost was Audio Imperia because of the stacked discounts. Ethera series was also a good deal considering sale prices + 20% loyalty discounts. And I calculated based on the routine sale prices, not the regular price vs. BF price. So used sites like musicsoftwaredeals (and others) to figure out what things "actually" cost. It really does pay to wait throughout the year and just grab everything at once, unless some insane deal pops up throughout the year. So now that I've saved a bunch, I will buy something overpriced today and ruin everything.

  8. Agree. My needs are pretty simple and the free version covers all of those bases. But after several years of using the free version, I bought the Pro version just to support the dev. It sat on v2.4.3 for a long time, and I started t wonder if it had run its course, but the dev is still clearly working on it, so I remain happy that I went Pro (with the plugin, not myself 😉). The dev has to pay rent and put food on the table like the rest of us.

  13. Funny you are talking about this Mettellus. I am in the process this weekend of putting the thing together. Got the neck on, all the holes drilled to put pickguard, spring plate, and jack in. Just put the tuners on and lined them up, just need to drill the holes for them and put the screws in, solder the two wires to the jack and the one ground wire, screw it all together, string it up and take a pic!! I just set the pickguard and jackplate in place and snapped this pic. So this is close to what it will look like.

  16. My suggestion for Arturia bundle upgrades (and other upgrades, e.g., WUP for Mercury): Make list of what has been added compared to what you have Assign a "no brainer" price to each addition (e.g., "yes, I'd definitely buy it for $25", "I'm not terribly interested but, if it were on sale for $10...". If it's something I'd really get only if it were a freebie, then assign zero) Add them up and compare to the price of the upgrade. If the price is good then buy, otherwise wait for the next version or the next sale and do the numbers again.

  19. Haha no video yet. I have some plans to record a longer set where some time is reserved for some droning techno. But I need a new camera for that because it won't fit on my phone (and another old phone I use will never make it for a longer time than 10 minutes). But indeed, no kids. I was pretty lucky to buy my house at it's absolute lowest in the market. Add an ok paying job with public transport compensation (so, I have the smallest cheapest car) and I can save a lot of money each month.

  20. Two glitches so far. One involved my brain, which led to me buying the wrong AudioThing Hainbach plugin. So that left me owning 5 of the 6 and I then found the last one on AD with a freebie included, so now I am complete. It was fate obviously. Talking of Komplete, I bought the boxed version of K13 CE with the hard drive for $410. They ended up giving me a free update to K14 CE which was very generous. I also bought Kontrol S61 Mk2 from them for $350 but no free update to the MK3! What I find embarrassing is the amount of software that I consider buying. My wish list on BS for example is total BS. . That's Best Service for those not in the know and the second BS relates to matadors. Fortunately, I am not that impulsive so I do the research and cross most off the list. I enjoy the research but do find myself researching some plugins in consecutive years. Soniccouture Gamelan II is one example but the lack of any video walkthrough has stopped me. Their Waterphone walkthrough sold it to me easily as it has great flexibility. Kepler is another one I have researched before, but now that it's in the Ton and I already have 'Dame' Edna, the price is probably too compelling for me to ignore. As was the update to Melodyne Studio 5 for a shade over ten bucks. So a lot to consider and new things get added to the lists of course. Plus old adversaries lower their prices to deliver a knockout punch. Randy's Prepared Piano got me this time. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the listing which states that 'No dildos were damaged during the preparation of this piano', so it feels like a safe buy. I might need to choose a 'safe word' before using it just in case. Cage, Cage, Cage 😆 I try to limit purchasing licences which can't be transferred unless they are inexpensive. Randy is a cheap sod but Kepler is on the edge. Thanks for indulging me, have a great day.

  23. This is really a followup to the last post on this thread, but that is in the Deals section and I don't want to bump that up since it isn't an applicable deal. I took what @Max Arwood said to heart after my last post in this thread, so researched laser engravers and saw a few that were suitable, then blew them off for the time being. Ironically, during the first Amazon Prime Day in July I got some screwy pop-up with 3 hours left in the sale (that some of those engravers went on sale) so I grabbed an xTool D1 Pro 10W (was less than $400 then, so I grabbed the middle model). I was restoring two vehicles this summer so left it set on a table I walked by every day, but still blew it off. The return on that long since expired when I opened it (glad it was actually a new one when I did!), then set about the task at hand... finishing that head stock on that guitar... First, things that I like and don't about the laser engraver itself: Repeatable precision is perfect (for multiple passes), but the initial alignment sucks (so I backed off the idea of redoing anything once removed until I noodle that one out). The repeatable precision I could leverage, but the alignment required some trickery and doing things "by eye" in a few cases. Is Wi-Fi capable, so can leave it in another room. Absolute HATE.... NO MANUAL (of any use) for it! WTF?? Fortunately I have worked with a lot of lasers, so I just went to town dry running my thoughts and leveraged ideas with what the machine can actually do. Even videos for the machine were often by people who came across as unknowledgeable. The power, speed, and resolution are independent for each object. With repeatable precision, this was totally usable, but after I watched numerous people burn the crap out of things, I realized few know how to generate any art. Control of those settings with repeatability will allow for very detailed pictures (greyscale) to be done. The engraver itself accepts png files, and works with layers, so can add a guide object of the piece to work too (I was dealing with both the edge of the head stock as well as making the picture miss the tuner washers). Lessons learned for this specifically: The epoxy idea itself was a fail, since epoxy is translucent and the depths are so shallow (thinner than a layer of paint in some cases). Paint is by far a better choice (although I did not go this route), because it is opaque and you can put a protective layer on the surface of the entire piece, overfill the engraving, then sand it back smooth. I was meticulous on doing both the logo and picture to work to the actual head stock, then looked up head stock veneer (perfectly square!) and can get 5 for $10. I laughed when I saw those... in hind sight that would have made the job far easier (and less stressful!). I never liked the grain on the head stock anyway, but did a little more trickery to get around that as I worked. Regardless, I worked to the actual head stock and this is the final result. Even though I "could" redo this to perfection with a veneer blank in the future, I tend to appreciate the flaws in things that make them truly unique. I think @DeeringAmps mentioned the high top/low bottom strings late last year. I had bought a 10-pack back then, so this job also let me put a 1/4 turn relief on the truss rod and install a set (rather nice bottom end to them, I must say!). Also, @Grem... we need an update on your guitar project!

  24. - Orange Tree Sitardelic. I had a lot of Orange Slices I'd forgotten about which brought the price down even more. - UVI Falcon Expansion Modular Noise. Compares to NI Reaktor but not as radical. - u-He MFM2 I love u-He products but this one's a bit complicated so I might regret buying it. - XLN - a couple of AD midi packs Almost bought Avenger but not sure now. I have enough trouble tweaking Falcon patches so don't need another convoluted synth to figure out. Wish they had a demo.

  27. The (relative) bad for me this BF: I paid $25 for Dawesome Love on November 1st. Honestly, I've used it a couple of times since then, and it's pretty great. I don't feel bad at all for the price, even if it's FWAP at PB now. On the good side, going back a month into the "preseason" sales, and with several bits of good luck/timing/circumstance, an additional $250 has turned into: NativeInstruments Razor ImpactSW Javanese Gamelan and 5 Ventus Winds Arturia DIST Coldfire and EFX Fragments HY Slicer 2 Toybox Audio Nano Pack 3 Sonuscore Origins 1-5 Plugin Boutique Scaler EQ Sound Dust Dust Engine #2 Strix Pripyat Pianos 4 RigidAudio Kontakt doodads Puremagnetik Stages MinimalAudio Impulse sample pack 2 Punkademic Jason Allen online classes HoRNet Harmonics Pro PulseSetter Epic Babies Updates: Glitchmachines Cataract 1->2, AAS VS-1 -> VS-3, Soundiron Iron Pack 10 update Freebies including: Immense Audio Legendary, Toybox Tangle Pack Lite, TDR Prism, Inear Bref, Aberrant Lofi Oddity, BPB Dirty VHS, UJAM Mellow 2, Excite Vision 4X Lite, Slate Heatwave, a new Unify lib, 3 HoRNet plugins, 2 Thenatan plugs, VST3 updates to free Valhalla plugs (had forgotten to update these earlier) and assorted other Pianobook/Reaktor User Lib/vendor goodies. I had a few more pennies saved up for the season, but dammit, I'm tired. And I've got a lot of new stuff to learn. Maybe I'll buy the dog some squeaky toys and call it a year.

  29. AFAIK, the pointer is relative to where the audio is located in relation to the cwp file location, so if the audio is in the project folder itself (nested), renaming that project folder will not affect them. However, if you rename any part of the audio folder's location if it is not nested under the cwp file (i.e., the audio is actually on another drive), that pointer is no longer valid since the path no longer exists when you rename any portion of the audio path. Two ways to rectify this: (Highly preferred) Do a "Save As..." of a project you want to move (or rename) and copy audio files with the project. This is also a nice cleanup technique since only audio in use by that cwp will be copied to the the new Project/Audio folder. There was a default search engine when opening projects missing audio to "locate the missing files" but I forget it it can be launched manually. That will re-assign the pointers, but again, if you rename that audio path, you can easily break them again.

  31. Possibly! Though I was very happy to get a String Studio VS-1 to VS-3 upgrade for $35, if that's anywhere close. If you wind up biting (I'm thinking the same, but with Riffer), my understanding is that (a) JRRShop has the best price ($27 in the "Blowout" section) and (2) though it's not mentioned there, Uncle E suggests licenses bought there are also eligible for the Freezr freebie when registered on Audiomodern's site. (If there's any worry about getting Freezr that way, Loot Audio is also sub-$30 for ChordJam, explicitly offers the freebie and offers up to five freebies with purchase [though you'd have to pad the basket a bit to get the last two, which kick in around ~$32 and ~$44 in the cart].)

  40. I do most annual purchase in November / December, and although I had a large budget, I've been pretty conservative (yes, this is conservative lol): Audio Imperia: Talos, Aeria Lite, Nucleus, Cerberus, Jaeger. Considering Solo. The reg. discounts, loyalty discounts, and crossgrades made this releatively cheap. Cinesamples Musio: just the annual sub ($90 for 12 month). I'll probably grab the whole non-sub deal for $299 before end of year as I'm quite impressed with what's already there. 8Dio: Majestica Ultra (upgrade), Silka Choir (they gave me $30 deal for owning Insolidus) Excite Audio: Motion Harmonic (love this developer, use Console & Expanse a lot.) Kiloheart: Phase Plant. (Now convinced it's the best granular synthesis engine around, even eclipsing Absynth, Quanta 2. Maybe not Kaivo.) Audio Ollie: LA Modern Percussion Skybox Audio: Hammer + Waves collection + expansion. Presets: A few preset packs for Omnisphere. Looking at a couple more from String Audio / Unfinished. Cherry Audio Polymode: Got it for $6! Hardware: New flight cases for mobile rig. **Still to come: Choir purchase. Still can't decide between Audio Imperia Chorus + Performance Samples Oceania I & 2....or....AudioBro's Eternity Complete. Both Chorus & Oceania set come to the same price as Eternity Complete. And I've used Chorus & Oceania before at various studios and more than capable. Hmm. I can't decide yet. New solo orchestra library: Can't decide. I'm not inspired by anything I currently have except Tina Guo cello from Cinesamples and the solo brass in Cinebrass Core / Cinebrass Pro. I really don't like the scripting in most solo stuff I have, or find them dated sounding. (Cremona, East West, Joshua Bell, Orchestral Tools, stuff, etc.) Maybe Audio Imperia Solo, but there's solo stuff in the other AI libraries I just bought, and more in Musio, so probably unnecessary....for now. **Abandoned purchases that were on the list: Project Sam: Pandora KeepForest: Devastator Bundle Various boutique experimental libraries: Sonic Coutour, Ben Osterhouse, Silence + Other Sounds, Sound Dust, etc. Last year I focused on experimental stuff, this year wanted some mainstream generic stuff. Soundiron: Mimi Page Zero-G: Ethera Gold (3.0): still deciding on this. Orchestral Tools: Salu, Modus, and some of the Fabrik / misc. libraries. No sale, no buy. Maybe they'll do a proper sale at Christmas. Spitfire Audio: Albion complete. I own most, was considering getting Neo and Solstice individually, but only want a few patches from each so not worth it. Liquid Sonics: Was thinking of picking up another one of their reverbs. I still might. No plugins this year except one that was dirt cheap! It's a miracle. Really had self control this year. But the year ain't over.
