I've used Bandcamp both as a creator and consumer of music and I agree. I'd also add that one of my favorite things about it is that if I buy someone's album for $10, the person receives the great bulk of that. Selling 10,000 copies of an album back in the record company days meant you owed the record company a fortune and if the next one didn't sell at least 10X that you'd be done for. Selling 1,000 copies of your album through Bandcamp means that you've got housing covered for a year. Bandcamp rules my musical world, it's the first place I look when I want to buy the music of someone I just heard of. Also, 2 different times, I've asked an artist how I could buy a song or album that wasn't listed for sale on Bandcamp and the artists I asked just sent me a free copy of the single (Chris Zippel) or album (Under The Radar) I asked about.

Yep there is. I record my artists or snares with effect to tame the peaks. Step 1: Create your recording track. Step 2: Add your desired effects and tweak them to taste. Step 3: Add an extra Audio Track>Go to the newly created tracks Input and create a NEW PATCH POINT. Step 4: Go to your recorded track and sent that to the New Patch Point. Step: 5 Arm Patch track and start recording.

Then maybe someone other than my friends and family might hear it. 😄

Well, the effects will not be recorded even if you use them while recording. They are applied to the output. And you would need a fast computer in order to hear the effect without latency. There are ways, of course. Recording the output to another track while recording, if forget what they call it, a semi-new feature.

Hmmmm. I know a lot of artists that distribute their music via Bandcamp. As a consumer of music, I appreciate that I can listen and then choose whether or not I want to support an artist. Also (again as a consumer), I like that artists can set their own prices, run their own promotions, etc.. The same holds true for people I know that have used Bandcamp for their netlabels. I have found that is a great way to find music I might not have otherwise been exposed to.

100% agree with that entire post IKM have some very ugly coding practices (IMO) like using incorrect file extension in an attempt to hide the purpose of the file etc. It's this kind of nonsense that encourages AI/ML virus scanners to view these applications as suspicious (which it is!). I suspect their subscription coding is just as ugly. The 'unsigned' aspect is pretty unforgivable in 2023 too - it indicates IKM attitude to security - and their response to customer concerns....well not very impressive.

yes, it currently comes up clean with Malwarebytes .......but..... Google F-Secure McAfee (2 versions) Fortinet etc All showing positive. Upload 'availability.exe' from the \program files\ik multimedia\ik product manager\resources\ to Virustotal to see If you look at the results of an "actual-real-life-guaranteed Trojan" such as the 'similar' Trojan:W32/Lokibot (file hash is on the f-secure site) - this has a keylogger and a password stealer and you'll see lots of scanners say 'fine' - including Clam-AV, Acronis, Palo-Alto for example. A 'negative' is no guarantee of safety - just as a 'positive' is no guarantee of malware. Seeing 12 scanners, including some generally reliable ones, give a positive result raises lots of red flags for me. I really hope they are 'false positives' but it's entirely possible that a computer at IKM was infected and this found it's way into the installer package ? This situation is made even worse as IKM refuse to sign their Windows installers (saving approx $10!). Everybody needs to make their own mind up if it's safe to install, but it's important people know about it (IMO) so they can make the choice.....and that's why I'm posting about it on this forum. I would suggest that IKM should clarify what is going on. Also a bit odd they quietly deleted the virus warnings that other users had posted on their own website forum.....

Appreciate the input. I will do that but I will continue to learn about Vocal compression- I am retired so all I do is pay my guitars and record 🙂 BTW noticed, I have the same Focusrite. Does much more than I need....Still learning that to since I used an Echo Layla 3G forever.

😌 It will sound even better when you do the actual compression to it. 🙂

note: Will's technique of recording the input via the AUX track is how you print the effects on the WAV clip(s). otherwise, just having plugins on the input track does NOT print those effects. if you turn off the effects, you're simply left with the raw input. and which i recommend recording BOTH - so if you find the effect(s) printed on the aux track need to be adjusted, you have the source material to work with... much like re-amping - record your guitars both DI and post-amp / post-effects so you can redo the guitar amping and effects later.

Hope they keep the monthly Bandcamp Fridays where the artist gets the full price of their product

Just to confirm - CbB project templates will be compatible with the new Sonar. With very few exceptions, CbB/SONAR/Sonar projects are both forward and backwards compatible. Templates are definitely forward & backwards compatible.

This year I've been really good about not spending too much on sample libraries and plugins -- and Hornet's plugins are so cheap on sales that I just can't resist picking up a couple more plugins. I just bought two pretty useful plugins for a few bucks and I certainly can't regret that.

It could be just an anomaly in that session. Try a clean session template with just one recorded audio track... edit out a chunk and see if problem persists.
