  9. It's a deal if own any version of FL Studio https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio/lifetime-free-updates/ https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-download/ WHAT'S NEW? FL Studio: Colored waveforms - General settings option to color code frequency content in audio waveforms. 13. Just to clarify, the version of Halion that comes with VST Live Elements/Pro is Halion Sonic SE 3 which is the (older) free version of Halion, kind of like the player version of Kontakt. It can load 3rd party libraries but you cannot create your own instruments in it. Halion (including the free version) is at version 7. The full version of Halion is mucho buckos.

  18. I got ALL Zampler expansions with a Beat subscription. I don't know exactly how many I have but it must be over 130. The subscription doesn't just give me the printed issues and access to the downloads for those issues but I can download all back issues as well as the samples, workshop files, software and Zampler expansions for all issues. Plus, you can choose a great freebie with your subscription. I don't know what the current freebies are, but they've already had Shreddage Hydra and Phase Plant. Zampler is great, by the way. It was developed by Synapse Audio, the people behind Dune 3. The expansions are all of varying quality and quantity. Some have rather experimental sounds, some very usable, some have many, some less.

  20. I got Cluster Flux free on Plugin Boutique and paid $107 for all the others on the ADSR sale. Specifically the Ring Mod was $15, only $5 more compared to this sale. So... no regrets yet 🙂. And the plugins are all very good anyway.

  22. It's been reported already - phone and tablet view are currently still broken after a software update. If you go into your phone browser and switch it into Desktop Mode temporarily, you'll see the missing header icons. Then once you tap what you need and get there, you can switch back up mobile view. I'll give this another chase up, it's pretty inconvenient.

  23. FYI, Padshop 2, Retrologue 2, and HALion Sonic with Pro/Artist/Basic sets are included with VST Live Elements/Pro, pretty good for $30/$50. Padshop 2 is currently $65 and Retrologue 2 is currently $50. If nothing else, you can get VST Live for the instruments. For those looking for an alternative to MainStage or Gig Performer (for live performance), this is worth considering. GP is more mature, but Steinberg has been actively updating VST Live since its release just over a year ago (currently on its 16th release).

  24. This is exactly the reason I stopped using Reaper and went back to Studio One after Sonar Platinum went splat. I was wasting WAY too much time playing with the UI, trying to get it where the look of it didn't bother me. If the themes were professionally created and curated against the default Reaper theme, I would be happy to pay for one that worked for me, knowing that it was complete and supported and that if there was an issue with it, it would be corrected. If you read the comments on the popular themes, one common thread is that something/some feature is missing vis-a-vis the default theme. If you don't need that missing feature, no problem. If you do, you're almost always SOL. What do I dislike most about Reaper (and I do like and respect it) is: 1) the menus, and 2) the window that plugin UIs open in. That said, Reaper is awfully good at a lot of tasks, and no other DAW has Kenny Gioia.

  25. I just found out that you can optionally drag-and-drop a track icon from File Explorer onto a track to replace the existing icon. Any part of the track will work as destination, so you won't have to drop it on the existing track icon. This action will (almost always) also update the icon in the Track Inspector and the Console View as well, but sometimes you'll have to switch selected track to trigger a repaint of those icons. Fun fact: This drag-and-drop feature is currently not documented in the Online Help, nor in the Reference Guide. Edit: I've later noticed that File Explorer isn't needed. In your Media Browser, it's possible to navigate to your Track Icons folder and drag-and-drop icons directly from there. I've personally saved my Track Icons folder as a Content Location Preset, so it's always easily accessible. The one drawback with using the Browser, instead of File Explorer, is that you can't see the source icon as an icon, only its file name.

  33. I had the 16.08 beta. That worked. On top of that I installed the released version of 16.08. I only tested a few plug-ins, but they worked for me. I will look in the VST3 folder. Sec. I just checked. Because of the issue reported, when I installed the released version of 16.08, I intentionally did not erase all previous versions. So, my VST3 folder (and sub-folder) has all of the plug-ins from the date I installed the beta version of 16.08. Hope this helps. UPDATE: I tried it again. This time I did the quick check and then deleted the previous plug-ins (16.08 beta). As a result my Melda *.dll and *.vst3 plug-ins were not installed. MORE: Upon reinstalling 16.08 Beta, the installer (quick check / delete) confirms that the M*.dlls and and M.*vst3s had not been installed.

  37. Thanks. You're right. I'm thinking it might be handy when opening old projects, but it has been a lot of trouble so far. I'm thinking most of the 64-bit plugins from SONAR 8 on should run, though I've had issues with some of them. However, earlier, mostly 32-bit, versions are probably useless and I'm not bothering with those. Also, I'm nostalgic and like to look back at the way it was, when we were younger. Hey, that might be a good hook🤣

  38. Well, I'd installed 1.2 first which required me to use the 1.5 update, but the update wouldn't install because it couldn't find the 1.2 version. I then uninstalled the 1.2 version and tried to run the complete install version of 1.5, but it balked and said it found an older version. That's when I gave up used a restore point to eliminate all the Cakewalk installs. Hopefully this time I'll not install the 1.2 version and be able to install the full 1.5 version using Command Center as @scook suggested.

  40. @scook has quite a few posts on proper installation, which is basically in chronological order. Some of them need the core program installed to use functions (like VVocal) in the newer versions, but I am not sure of the details specifically to Lexicon Pantheon (he just replied as I was typing this). As far as Dimension Pro 1.5... that has a separate installer AFAIK, so can be installed alongside whichever version you choose. There were a few updates to it, but it should still be in your Cakewalk account and available through the old download assistant.

  43. We reduced most of our prices recently, including upgrades that dropped more than $100 lower than they had been on flagship products so things have been changing for the better and likely will continue to do so. There are also incentives for loyal customers beyond just JamPoints like the additional $50 off we offered for MAX users to upgrade (off of already-reduced pricing during the aforementioned price drops) and the current $100 off the lowered upgrade pricing on Total Studio 4 MAX for 3/3.5 MAX users that we've been mailing to customers (on a Total Studio package that added a lot of products yet still lowered every price point by hundreds compared to 3/3.5 MAX pricing).
