  1. I’ve been on the old cakewalk forum and this one and have seen only a handful of women posting over the years. I have been treated with respect and been helped with issues over the years so for me it has been a friendly and productive and supportive forum. I have not seen other women treated poorly here either. Women in music being bullied is sad and probably very discouraging for the victim. I want to share my positive experience here so other women forum readers may feel comfortable about posting on this forum.

  2. But to be fair, after warning everyone I would be deleting the material eventually...and to copy the material if they wanted it, before it went away Anyway, the main reason I stopped by is that if anyone bought Max Your Mix!, there will be a free update coming out soon (around the end of November 2022). It includes new material about mixing with headphones, room simulation software, data compression and file exporting, how match levels in an album or collection of songs, and added information on mid-side processing, panning laws, and mix referencing/mix analysis tools (including in-depth information on the LUFS and LRA specifications). To get the free update, just use the same download code you used to download the original copy. Also, there may be an update to the Cakewalk tips book in the works for 2023. No guarantees, but stay tuned.

  3. ANA 2.5 IS HERE! This game-changing synth has just changed the game again. We are so proud and super excited to deliver to you guys our biggest upgrade to one of the world's most exciting synths - ANA 2.5. We have worked tirelessly for 18 months to bring you an incredibly exciting new sound palette to this game-changing synth, everyone, say hello to ANA 2.5 - Multisampling. Now you can create beautifully deep-sampled and create exquisite instruments from right within ANA. Use this new functionality to dream up new sonic worlds across the three available multi-sampling oscillators, or go even further, blending the first three subtractive / FM oscillators to create mind-blowing soundscapes - all in one synth. Send to CMD and ARP whilst modulating via the G-ENV, and the possibilities are endless. ANA 2.5 has just become the must-have synth for all serious producers out there. We didn't just stop there, we have also added some more cool features. Each oscillator now has pitch drift, allowing you to control micro changes in pitch with each note press to mimic that classic analog VCO sound even more closely. In the filter section, you now have more control over how the filter drive works with a new Drive 'gain' function. Allowing you to drive harder into the filter to really make ANA 2.5 sound epically aggressive. Oh yeah, forgot to say, this is a FREE upgrade available in your accounts now! We have also created a beautifully crafted Multisample expansion pack, which you can grab here. Utilising the powerful new multi-sampling engine in ANA 2.5 this brand-new pack delivers all you need to get started with this massive upgrade to ANA. From beautifully organic sampled Steinway pianos and classic guitars to bespoke recorded choirs and strings, this expansion pack gives you 30 incredibly detailed sampler instruments and 100 massive brand-new presets. These awe-inspiring presets blend the power of new technology with the emotion of exquisitely crafted source samples to produce a completely new and complex sound palette for this cult hero synth. https://www.sonicacademy.com/products/ana-2

For the last few years there have been big discount deals on a specific product at each store. 10. There's a guy who comes to the Wednesday night jams I sometimes attend who plays bass and is missing his right hand. He plucks the strings with a Captain Hook kind of appliance, and despite that challenge he's actually a decent player. Puts my whining about one sore finger in perspective. But still. I did made it through last Saturday's gig fairly easily, just by going easy on that finger. By the end of the night the pain had actually lessened, suggesting that exercising the hand is probably beneficial. It was throbbing the next morning, but I'm going to assume for now that continuing to play might be the best therapy. btw, it's my "naughty" finger that won't extend properly. So there's that minor handicap. Won't be able drive effectively in New Jersey.

  12. More so than the 'stuff' I mentioned previously - I'm hoping for things that money can't buy like everyone staying safe & healthy. Funny how things can go to hell so quickly. 3 weeks ago I shattered my collarbone in a mountain bike accident and had surgery to pin it all together again (still recuperating from that) then right afterwards half the family caught Covid (thankfully everyone was vaccinated so no one got seriously ill). So thankful that I missed that bullet, getting sick while recovering from surgery would have truly sucked. So looking forward to an uneventful BF weekend. I hope that everyone has a safe, healthy & happy BF/holiday weekend!

  13. I've had Stage for years, I'm an occasional pianist but I've found it more than adequate for my needs. That said, I've just upgraded to v8 Standard - because I wanted an extra instrument anyway and I got that for the upgrade price so the deal worked well for me. Just had a play and the additional tinkering you can do in Standard looks good and you can get some interesting sounds. My 2c anyway. Andy

  19. That might be a better question for Bandlab, the company (the people who run the music social network) than here, which is focused on the Cakewalk application specifically (of whom Bandlab are the owners of Cakewalk, but separate to the social network). But go on any YouTube comments section and you'll find those kind of people all over the place there too. And Twitter. And Facebook. It's pretty awful. Here, at least, we have a fairly proactive team of moderators making sure this place is as inclusive as it can be, while trying to keep some kind of order in general. They don't always get it right (as no moderators can ever do) but I think most people here would agree it's a pretty friendly and productive space. Your best bet is to contact the Bandlab company directly here to voice your concerns: https://help.bandlab.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404926548121-How-do-I-contact-BandLab-

  25. One nice thing about Modartt is that the additional cost of an upgrade is just the difference between the two versions so it costs you nothing to start basic and upgrade later. But the current sale prices are better than during last Summer's so you might have to wait a while to get to upgrade at the same total cost. The added flexibiity of Standard is quite desirable in my view and it can import modified "FXP" patch files developed by other users in the Pro version that Stage cannot. I bought a license for v7 Standard from the original owner for a little less than the current sale price. I upgraded to Pro in the Summer through JRR for the same $100 it would cost now, and because I did that within the last 12 months, I got the upgrade to 8 for free. Modartt's pricing and license transer policies are are very fair compared to some.

  33. Doesn't SoS give 5/5 to everything? Music software reviews are almost as corrupt a racket as gaming reviews. Walk through video sounds pretty average. Much better Taikos on the market - for traditional and processed / epic. Probably worth $40 though!

  39. Oh, right. Those guys. I bought the whole Intimate threesome just a few of days ago, but I already forgot about it (it's been a busy week.). At about $35 for each it was a no-brainer. I have thrown a lot of money into the pit that is 8dio, so no referral discounts for me, unfortunately. But thank you for reminding me that I actually do have something of a chamber orchestra. For the time being, I think I'll keep Hyperion on the "maybe" section of my Black Friday list. The YouTube walkthroughs sound better (edit: much better) than SoundCloud demos, so maybe there's something in there for me. I know @Fleer likes them.

  40. @pseudopop You may have already considered 8Dio's Intimate Solo Strings (on sale for $45USD), but if you didn't, it gives you with 1-5 violinists, 1-3 cellists, 1-3 violas, and 1 - 2 basses, there are 256 ensemble sizes. I've owned it for a couple of years and paid a lot more for it. Nothing for the $45 USD price range even comes close. While I have been very critical of 8Dio's string libraries as not having very good KONTAKT scripting -- that their peers are commonly far superior at writing smart, intuitive scripts that make the libraries more fun to play live to get a realistic performance -- the reality is, those peers are when the libraries are at full price for hundreds of dollars. If this library was three times its current sale price, I don't think you could realistically expect the same level of quality. But again, where I find 8Dio's libraries, as a whole, to be disappointing is the lack of good KONTAKT scripting, so if you buy it, know what you're getting into. You do get a ton of articulations and you can set up velocities or keyswitches to trigger those articulations. So if you spend the time to learn these libraries, you can get beautiful results that are far beyond what you're going to get with say, Hyperion Strings Elements or Solid State Symphony. That said, while I own several SoundIron libraries, I don't own any of their string libraries (okay, that's offhand, I might actually own some I've forgotten about), I seem to recall Fleer saying he did. But I think, overall, SoundIron seems to be a lot better at writing sophisticated KONTAKT scripts than 8Dio. While I don't own any Indignuis libraries -- or at least ones I've purchased in the last decade -- that developer has a very good reputation for writing clever KONTAKT scripts that make his libraries easy to play. I recall that Reid is a big fan of their libraries, so he's one you might want to check with. Now, if you want to buy an 8Dio library and you haven't bought from them before, both Larry and I are customers and you can PM either of us for a link that well get you a $15 USD discount, bringing the cost of the library down to $30 USD, which is a crazy good deal, even considering the disappointing lack of clever KONTAKT scripting with 8Dio libraries. https://8dio.com/products/intimate-studio-strings?variant=41310021746888

  42. Doesn't work natively in Ableton. However, I got it to work using Blue Cat's Patchwork which loads the instrument version just fine and the Patchwork/Roll Control Instrument combo works just like any other instrument in Ableton. The one issue I found is at value 0 in Roll Control, the velocity is at max, but as you dial it up above 0, velocity jumps back down before it gradually ramps up. Also, the Initial Hit toggle doesn't do anything when the value is 0. I sent you an email with a screenshot. I also got it to work using PluginGuru's Unify which, like Patchwork, can also host VSTs.

  44. tkdelay remains a favorite, even if it's been knocked out of my #1 spot in recent months by Valhalla Delay. The reverse delay and ducking feature make it very useful on vocals, especially ethereal BGVs . Also check out irid, the regenerative pitch-modulated reverb. It's like Valhalla Shimmer, except that you can tune the tail to harmonic (or inharmonic) intervals, up to three intervals to make chords. Basically turns any sound into a lush pad.

  46. We are finally ready to lift the veil on our new free H.A.L Technology. The biggest leap we've ever made in the advancement of sampling technology. A paradigm shift. We begin the journey with our new stunning 1999 Soprano Saxophone, which we also call: "Moonlight". Moonlight is an Ultra Deep-Sampled Soprano Saxophone, which offers you a completely new degree of command and playability of the instrument. It is like you become one with the player. Our Hyper Acoustic Legato Engine real-time renders 127 different velocity layers and offers true polyphony without any need for overlapping keys. It is effortless and emotional at first touch. You simply play it like a piano. Soundpaint 2.0 and Moonlight are coming November 17th 2022. https://soundpaint.com/ With Sonic ❤ Troels & Tawnia
