  3. There have long been posts claiming this developer uses samples derived from other libraries in posts from regular forum members here, at VI Control and KVR. Some have claimed to have analyzed the individual samples to ascertain that they are the same. The developer has operated under multiple names and engaged in some less than great practices under past names, that I know myself to be true. However, I'll cut to the chase. I have downloaded three of the paid sample libraries this developer sells when they were given away as freebies and they shared in common that they were incredibly bloated file size for each library (8 GB or more) for what it was. Each library -- two were piano libraries, one was a vibraphone-- was only one layer, like a Soundfont library from decades ago. So after downloading, listening and checking out each library, I deleted all of them. I don't want huge file size one layer instruments that sound terrible dynamically. If all of their libraries no on sale were suddenly offered free, I wouldn't waste my time, bandwidth or hard drive space for them. This developer just doesn't produce good quality libraries. I would consider them dodgy at best. I strongly recommend people avoid wasting their money on them. If someone is looking for high quality KONTAKT piano libraries that are inexpensive when on sale, I would recommend SampleTekk.

  4. @Helene Kolpakova Thanks for the extra info and report. I did some testing and reproduced all 3 issues. So, to summarize: 1. Custom Browser width is not preserved if Browser is collapsed. 2. Custom MultiDock height is not preserved if MultiDock is collapsed. Not quite the same as the Browser width issue though, since custom MultiDock heights are preserved correctly, except when the MultiDock is maximized. 3. Browser width may become no longer adjustable. FWIW, all 3 are existing issues (ie. not regressions caused by last week's docking fixes). I think 1 and 2 are already logged (I'll check and log if not), and I'll log 3 so we don't forget them. No promises (it's late in the release cycle, and last minute fixes can be risky), but I'll also take a look and see if I can squeeze another fix or two in today.

  7. BFD3 still gets used reliably every day in our network despite the issues (and hearsay from some non-owners). It's a staple in all our DAW templates for the simple reason that it sounds the best, based on a background in tracking acoustic drums. the rollout a year after being acquired by InMusic from Roli was an unbelievably miserable screwup with one of the worst DRM implementations i've ever had to deal with and directly affected active -and- previous projects. Some (one?) user went so far as to claim they successfully sued to get their money back for all purchases. InMusic has since managed to fix the most egregious insults to the existing user base, but it took well over a year, without much to offer otherwise. They claim to be working on M1 support (betas in test?) but it runs fine on Win10. No clue or expectations on VST3, but tbh, not an issue here. There were some issues with some expansions (mismatched samples, mixer channels, etc) but the core program works as expected. many of us prefer the current (vector) interface, as pretty pixels don't make it more usable or sound better. ymmv🙂 as for sounds, we've owned and tried AD2, SD2, Slate in the past, which are ok for duplicating stock/canned/sounds reminiscent of some favorite artist, but they've never cut it for our needs. One of us even took on Melda/MDrummer as a candidate (based on what they did with the piano), but never got on well enough to get the desired results or recommend it. SD3 is probably the most feasible alternate (= expansions with "raw" sounds), but kept weighing that investment against a good mic while pulling up existing projects and bouncing the audio down to avert any potential future disasters. (the increase in file space is a very small price to pay for peace of mind >> best practice for every project.) would be happy to be proved wrong, but not expecting a BFD4 anytime soon as there hasn't been much wrt updates/promises lately, but could be a bit of shell shock as the forums were pretty brutal. fwiw, InMusic has come out with a new expansion since the InMusic acquisition and at least a couple of core FXpansion founders are still on board and appearing to fight the good fight. that said, it's hard to beat the price if high quality drum sounds (especially cymbals) will make a difference in your projects. probably more so than another saturation plug or mastering eq, or most of the alternates. jmho.

  17. @Helene Kolpakova I fixed the 3 remaining Browser and MultiDock docking issues (see a couple of posts up). Fixes for issues 1 and 2 will be included in the upcoming release. Unfortunately, the fix for issue 3 will have to wait for the following release. It's too risky to include at the last minute (needs a full beta/EA testing cycle). Thanks again for your thorough reports.

  28. Actually, I never used them. Just thought it looked like a good bargain bin value and was tempted into exploring their site. Some of it sounded good on the YT videos I checked out -- enough to pique my interest. I am grateful for everyone posting their impressions as well as the VI-control thread. You all steered me clear of it. I have a commitment with myself anyways not to spend more money on sounds -- I have more than I use at the moment. Of course, I break that commitment regularly.

  33. This is the same price for upgrading from BFD Eco, which I own, but frankly, if you check the various forums, including and especially BFD's own forum, BFD3, which is more than 8 [edit: I looked that up] years since their last major version update (BFD2), has had nightmare problems and has been VERY neglected by the company that bought the product line from fxpansion many years ago. Consequently, I've been waiting to see if they ever get the problems worked out and are saling smooth for a bit before pressing the buy button. The people I know that own it have all recommended that I don’t spend the $49 USD on BFD3 for numerous reasons.

  38. I don't personally use Mac, but yes, it's definitely more of an issue there. But it's quite plausible that it could still come up with Windows, albeit it doesn't seem to be anywhere as bad as with Apple. But a DAW change in a few years could require an update and therefore WUP to be paid. And while many do charge for updates, they generally add new features and functionality, whereas for the most part, Waves WUP just gets you back to using what you had. But a tonne of great developers keep releasing new versions for free as well, so I'd rather be aiming for the best, instead of accepting the lower end of that. The other thing I didn't mention, was that I like to be able to run a copy of the same plugins on a laptop and DAW and unless you want to mess around with USB keys, which aren't great with laptops due to the limited number of ports, or transferring licenses whenever you want to work on the laptop, you need active WUP. That's a funny point about support.. that can definitely be a mixed bag and I would agree many of the companies suck for that, so maybe from Waves it's a moot point! haha.... I do like to boycott them as much as possible though, purely because I don't like their business practices and I don't want to reward and encourage them for that behaviour. But I have bought a couple of their plugins and this offer did tempt me more than most of theirs. Still haven't completely ruled it out! But I have a feeling this Black Friday is going to be bigger than ever with lots of great options, so I'm good either way. If they dropped WUP and made them 2 or 3 seats, this would be pretty close to no brainer territory 😎

  40. That reminds me. There's this meat initiative here in The Netherlands where you can 'buy a cow'. They select farmers which selects a cow (or multiple) and then they sell the meat. You can opt-in, and the moment enough people do that, the cow goes to the butcher and you get fresh beef. I've done that once and it was absolutely delicious and not that more expensive than in the store or the local butcher. And with the holidays coming up, they have wagyu. For 159.95 you get rougly 3,5 kg (which is around 11,5 lbs). So it's the Pulsar Mu bundle + Echorec or 300gr steaks for 11 people.

  45. There's another glitch btw 😅 Browser width may become no longer adjustable: Open a project. Expand MultiDock to the full window height and collapse it. Collapse Browser if it is not. Now that both are collapsed, expand MultiDock first. This will restore it to the full height. Now try to expand the Browser by pressing the "B" shortcut -> it doesn't show up because the full-height MultiDock takes priority if you will (actually I think something else happens there). Press "B" again to collapse the Browser that's not visible anyway, but just do so. Now collapse the MultiDock. And now we are supposed to expand the Browser since MultiDock should no longer prevent the Browser from being displayed, so press "B" Expected: Browser is expanded and its width is adjustable Observed: Browser does get expanded but I can no longer adjust its width and there's some glitch in rendering on its edge where it was supposed to be hold and dragged for width adjustments.
