  3. JMO: I think its a bad idea to repost the posts of forum members taken from other forums like this, for example to make a point about the activities of a forum member. However well intentioned, I think it opens up a can of worms.

  7. This is a comment, not a new video to change the the chain of associations. I heard the band's name before, but never their music. So watching this video gave me a excellent opportunity to listen and find out more about the band. I was struck by a comment in the following clip. An audience member tries to defend the band with an interpretation of another song (Kill the Poor). I can relate to the subsequent comment made in response about the neutron bomb. I had a very similar reaction to the neutron bomb when it was being put out there as a potential new weapon. (Its cued up to the questioner (2:16)); its a short Q&A (goes to 2:56).

  11. Just got my response... Since this is a discounted purchase from Audio Plugin deals it does not qualify for the MEGA bogo Promotion. So... whether APD were slow with the update on the website or not , the faq on the IK website did not state this VERY specific term at all. If it had done, I wouldn't have made the purchase (and just to annoy further, my modo drum no longer works due to the reasons mentioned in the other thread). Would happily have a refund for that instead. Have sent my thoughts back to IK on this one. And sure, they can reserve the right to change the terms of the promotion, but they have to tell people they're doing so! That's why you have a terms and conditions page which can be updated. It comes across as unprofessional and a little shady to say we can change the terms whenever we want without actually telling anyone what you have changed. Even the new talk of the value of the qualifying product now has to be equal to what was originally paid for the product is changing the goal posts again, and is not what is set out in the terms of the promotion. Modo drum SE has a specifc value, and the terms do not stop you from registering a discounted item. So why isn't that honoured? And historically it has never been an issue before when using a discounted product in one of the group buys, so why is it now? Pretty disappointing tactics really. In my line of work, when promos aren't set up correctly from the start, the company takes the hit. Not the customer.

  14. I had the same thing here in AmpliTube 5... Until I set the MIDI learn to a knob on my controller. Then the mouse drag started working. Deleted the MIDI learn, and the mouse drag continued to work. So closed AmpliTube, restarted it, added the Nu-Tron again and it still worked. Weird!!!

  15. As mentioned above, GitHub is a source code distribution platform. It's a bit like walking into a guitar shop and asking for guitar loops to use in a DAW; there might be a section in the shop that sells software/loops, but the that isn't the main focus of the shop. It's because most people go to GitHub for code. There are many different open source OSs; Linux is a small umbrella of them. They're all built slightly differently, and building from the source means you have a binary that will be best for your platform. As an example, think of code for a program to be like a blueprint for an engine: there are many different cars; each will house the engine in a slightly different way, and connect the various parts with various custom bits that are best for that car - a single pre-built engine might not be best in every situation. PS. if you ever want a Windows app that helps you calculate file checksums (e.g. SHA256), you can check out my GH page - complete with a .zip containing a pre-built binary 😜 https://github.com/Ant-f/HashCalculator/releases

  16. I'm just guessing that a couple of threads on July 24th may have contributed to his "vacation". He got unfairly trolled on a couple of posts. The first one about Studio One getting shafted, where he got accused of "click-baiting", and another about some plugin by Wusik where he got accused of "promoting" a company's products that he knew were not reliable. I think he just decided that he needed a break.

  17. Despite our major differences in certain matters, I consider Larry a stand-up guy. Around the time that various software companies were issuing statements about solidarity with certain social movements and multiple people on this forum were spitting nails and swearing off the developers in question, I broke my own rules and weighed in on it pretty strongly. Larry never gave any sign of holding it against me. The things we have in common are more important than our differences.

  20. Any idea why he bailed? His own business, of course. I'm just curious. As for linking to the forum where Larry is now active, as long as it's just to inform people of how to find him, I don't see what's wrong with that. Sure, linking to his individual posts isn't fair play; if he wanted his posts to appear here, he would post here. But it's the work of seconds to take the information and make your own post here.

  21. Longtime fan here. I've discovered so much great stuff there. I'm also a fan of Drone Zone, Synphaera, Beat Blender, and Illinois Lounge. It's one of my musical ambitions to get a track played on a SomaFM stations. Rusty did download my track and started following me on Bandcamp, but it's not been played on SomaFM to my knowledge. I suspect he may have a wait-and-see policy for artists with only one track to their name.

  26. I've just got back to my musical project and wanted to thank you for the video suggestions, and indeed, the videos themselves. Please don't take me the wrong way, I do appreciate that you've given your time and expertise into creating the comprehensive set of videos. I have definitely learned much from watching them. My initial remarks were merely expressing that I find it much easier to learn from reading text than watching videos. It's just a personal thing. Anyway, you have my gratitude for your assistance.

  28. Posting comments about songs is probably the most direct way to interact. https://radioparadise.com/info/faq How do I submit music or suggest artists to RP? "We don't accept submissions via mail or email. The review process can take a while. Please be patient, and keep in mind that we only accept a very small percentage of the music that is submitted or suggested to us. If your suggestion (or your own recording) is rejected, please don't take it personally. Our judgements are entirely subjective and arbitrary. They represent our opinion only." https://legacy.radioparadise.com/#n=Submissions https://radioparadise.com/info/about "We also depend on input from you to help fine-tune our music mix. If you hear something that you feel strongly about (either positively or negatively), please take a moment to rate and/or post a comment on that song. Just click the song title anywhere on our site or the heart icon on the web player."

  29. I don't hope so. But, it's too bad NFT's have that reputation (and rightly so), because there is something to the concept. Very basically it's just another form of ownership and distribution. We used to buy vinyl, casettes and CD's. Then we downloaded MP3's (we still do). Then we streamed everything (we still do). The latter is just modern radio, there is no ownership anymore. So it's the far end of the spectrum. I am of the opinion that eventually ownership will swing back. It already does with vinyl sales on the rise. So owning a certain piece of music, and not just the media which it comes on, in addition with the nifty technological things you can do with it, will be the future imo.

  33. Yeah, I'll echo the other comments here. What's the goal for this? When I write drums and I know I want it to be realistic, I'll go to great lengths to make sure it's playable (even if it's got to be a world class drummer that does it), I'll write in variations of where the drum is being hit, velocity for both right and left hands, nudge notes to make it realistic as far as when a drummer would be able to get to the hit from going around the kit and all of that stuff - the parts are actually usually not that difficult but the tweaking to make it sound real, and then the subsequent mixing of splitting each instrument out to its own discrete track to process it like an acoustic drum can really take ages, but it makes all the difference to how real it sounds in the end. However... that's not the only way to approach drums. I'm an 80s kid, so I'm happily at home with a LinnDrum or 808 playing absolutely impossible stuff, that's just not meant to sound real. Does it work for the song? Yes. Then it's correct. That's basically it. And often, I'll layer a lot of my "dude you spent way to long making that stuff sound real" drums with very obviously programmed stuff because I like how it sounds together. There's also no rule to say that you can't use a basic drum VST that you're running MIDI loops into it or your own basic patterns in your songs. If you're personally trying to go for realism and it's falling short, then sure - there's areas you can "improve" but if you like how it all sounds despite it not being "real" then... ehh... it's good. This is art at the end of the day and is subjective. If you like it, then that's the answer: it's the correct part for you. EDIT: If you *do* want to get your programming chops up, have a look at Scott's course here: https://spectredigital.com/product/metal-drum-programming-mastery/ It's metal oriented but metal is one of the hardest styles to get sounding realistic because rolls especially sound absolutely terrible programmed unless you really know what you're doing, and you can apply this knowledge to any rock or pop style.

  34. Thumbs up on Vital. I'd seen that video from Mr. Awesome Voice and grabbed most of the things he mentioned in there, but somehow I've never heard of 'Vital' before. Grabbed the demo, said "these are some yummy sounds, and I understand the UI without reading anything" and quickly upgraded to the $25 version. Really, really good. And yeah, I've never gotten into 'Surge'. D/L the latest version every now and then, poke around with it a bit and then forget about it for the next couple of months.

  35. A change of pace. The only things I didn't own from IK were the 'Joe Chiccarelli Vocal', and the Tascam Tape collection. So in the previous T-RackS Group Buy I was going to get them, I kept telling myself plenty of time, plenty of time, you know how it is. Then a couple of days ago I was checking something online, and it popped in my head 'the group buy, the group buy. I quickly loaded up the site, purchased the Joe Chiccarelli Vocal plugin then went to the 'Promotions' page in my account, nothing there? no problem I thought, it'll be here soon. I kept checking back, hours went by, I started to think either something was wrong, or I had missed the GB. The Group Buy page did say 0 days left, but a recent Email from IK which had a count down timer said there was still 12hours and a bit left. Waited a few more hours still nothing, so I checked my purchase receipt, and there it was, dated 2nd August, I had indeed missed it. No one to blame but myself, but I was still pissed off. I went to sleep, and when I woke up in the morning I went with hope in my heart and checked my 'Promotions' page, and to my joy and surprise there it was, no not the freebies from the Group Buy, but from something called the '4-for-all Mega BOGO, I never heard of it, hadn't received any Emails about it, nothing. I thought It must be a mistake, but I was able to select and download 3 out of the 4 modules of the Tascam Tape Collection, yeah, all was good in the world again. Even though I had never heard of it, and certainly never consciously entered it, IK had entered my previous purchase into the BOGO. All I was going to get from the previous GB which I missed was the 'Joe Chiccarelli Vocal' as the entry, and then the 4 modules for the Tascam Collection, wasn't going to worry about anything else because I already owned everything. Going from thinking I had missed my chance, to getting a nice surprise and almost everything I was after. Thanks IK 👍

  36. I cut and pasted https://stream.radioparadise.com/aac-320 into Winamp 5.6666 which I have been using for a few years. It works as I would expect. Hope this info helps. EDIT: The above link is the first one from what you have listed as "New site." I also tried this from the section that says for older player like Winamp. http://radioparadise.com/m3u/aac-320.m3u . Both work on my version of Winamp 5.6666 . I have no idea which versions I had over the years. When the proverbial you know what hit the fan, I took opted for 5.6666 and it has work for me for playing files, internet radio stations, ad hoc concerts/performances, etc.

  43. I agree about Surge, but I just cannot get past the interface. No joy there, IMO. Vital is a different animal. After I played around with the free version for a few hours, I upgraded to Vital Pro! Matt Tytel needs to be encouraged to keep developing this synth! I also have Pigments and Phase Plant, but there is something really unique and engaging about Vital!

  44. FYI my videos are short and to the point. I don’t even have intros and I don’t beg for subscriptions. That would waist time. People just need the facts. I made them per topic. If you do watch the ones I listed you will be miles ahead in understanding how to produce a top quality master. There’s much more to understand about Mastering than what I cover, but for most new comers this is a great starting point. I can totally understand not wanting to waist time on yet more videos but mine are different. I only made them because I got tired of typing the same answers over and over in this forum So the sort answer is it seems you have not set your Master bus section up properly. Only the Master needs to be at Unity. It's all about understanding Cakewalks signal flow. All this is covered in detail in the ones you didn't watch. The Video's about Exporting is NOT about mastering. It assumes you've got that under control. You shouldn't be messing with Windows volume setting either, unless you don't have an audio interface. We normally adjust monitoring levels with Hardware. You also might benefit from Tutorial # 1 about setting up your audio system correctly.
