  4. We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.11! This is primarily a maintenance release that includes fixes for a few user reported issues. It also includes several optimizations and improvements to the behavior when using Track/Bus Solo, exclusive solo and solo override functionality, especially when used in more complex routing scenarios utilizing aux tracks and sidechains. If you have encountered any of the cases listed below, please check out this release and and confirm that your issue is resolved before we release the official public version (most likely early next week). This release cycle will be very short so only regressions or severe bugs will be considered. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.11 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.09. Download Cakewalk 2021.11 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.09 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.09 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers Updated to 27.11.0.010 This contains the following additional improvements: Soloing a bus now includes any sidechain sends to plugins in tracks/buses Improvements to plugin silence flushing Solo, Exclusive Solo and Solo Override improvements The internals for track and bus solo have been greatly improved to handle more complex routing scenarios with tracks and buses routing or sending to aux tracks and side chains. Prior to this release there were scenarios where soloing intermediate tracks or buses would not solo all the parts of the signal flow. Additionally, solo override now works consistently with aux tracks and tracks containing active sidechains. Dim solo has also been made aware of the solo override state and works consistently. Issues Resolved in Cakewalk 2021.11 EA (build 27.11.0.010): Solo: Soloing a bus silences any sidechain sends to plugins in tracks/buses unless sending tracks are soloed Switching exclusive solo between aux tracks can cause the solo state to get out of sync Regression: Exclusive Solo Mode not working after unsoloing track Regression: Exclusive Solo "solo override" fails to work properly Solo Override does not behave as expected on Aux tracks or buses Solo Override does not behave as expected with Dim Solo Sidechain fails to trigger when soloing bus Soloing buses without an input streams audio not sent to bus Soloing a track with a send to an aux would not make the aux audible Export: Melodyne used as track effect hangs on export audio Some Mix Enables check boxes too large for dialog Duplicate filenames warning appears whenever using {taskname} tag Export Audio dialog not clearing/restoring exclusive solo / track solo override status Export Audio: "Use same settings for all" option not appearing for "Tracks through entire mix" Export audio directory should be deleted if not used, and only created for cwp projects Misc.: Preferences dialog categories illegible in High Contrast mode in Windows CTRL+SHIFT drag import of MIDI causes clips to overlap unexpectedly Step Sequencer clip fails to loop in user project Articulations ignored when scrubbing in Piano Roll view Piano Roll scrub stops working after using Clips scrub Add StickyFileExportNotification registry setting Softube plugins throwing error on scan and writing null CSLID to inventory Clean audio folder suggests deleting files in default export audio folder Disable project auto-save while File Export/Bounce to Track(s) dialogs are open

  12. Sounds like you're pretty much loaded for bear already. So never mind. You don't need Omnisphere. btw, if you like The Resonator and The Steel, check out Delta Blues Slide Guitar. It's my favorite of the bunch. Well, if you don't count Renaxxance. But that's a whole 'nother animal.

  15. As long as it works well, keep it up to date. No need to stay in the past. I believe that what Zo and I have provided to IK support about the problem, I am confident it will get fixed sooner than later.

  17. ^^^ Should be along any decade now. abacab, although you can't test drive Omnisphere you can certainly hear it. Watch Avatar, or a BBC nature documentary. It's all over the place. As for justifying the price tag, consider that it can replace every synth you have. Or ever wanted to have. I'd still rate Kontakt the better investment, but put the two together and you're pretty much set for VIs.

  21. Cakewalk relies on a proper installation of various Microsoft runtime libraries for several components (as do many other Windows programs). You can read more about the Microsoft redistributables here. While the Cakewalk application only uses the latest runtime libraries, there are other components and plugins that may utilize earlier libraries. Hence the Cakewalk installer additionally installs some of the older versions of these libraries that are used by certain known modules and plugins. Occasionally the Microsoft runtime libraries installation may get damaged by installing other programs (or even Windows update itself!) by installing incompatible components or removing necessary runtime components that are required for proper operation of Cakewalk. If this happens. the typical symptoms are crashes or hangs on starting Cakewalk or opening a project. A clean install of Cakewalk will always install the necessary components required for proper operation of the program, and typically restore normal operation. However, its not always convenient to reinstall the application, so we've built a new redistributable installer to help repair a system that doesn't contain all the necessary runtime libraries. You may download the new redistributable installer here. Running this installer will reinstall all required runtime library dependencies and should in most cases be able to recover from a damaged installation.

  22. So here's something newish . . . it's been lurking around my studio as a rhythm track for a long while, and I finally made a song from it. It started with a groove using cakewalk session drums, some jazzy guitar chords, now we got this. I added some organ, didn't like it, so changed it to horns, but the levels of those horns are tricky, depending which speaker system I listen on . . . let me know how it translates ? suggestions or comments from the cakewalk nation are always helpful. (please ignore the mullet hairdo picture posted when offering your mix considerations, she liked it . . . but, where did she go ?

  25. GOT IT! In the Track 1 INPUT, I had to change the MKII to Analog IN R.

  26. It looks like both of your MIDI inputs are the same device. That might not be the problem, but I'm pretty sure that's not right The multiple outputs shown for the Realtek are puzzling. I only know enough German to get myself into trouble and not enough to get myself out, but it looks like you have "show mono outputs" selected. I'm guessing this is showing what amounts to two stereo pairs; Cakewalk shows no change to My Focusrite when I select different options. Perhaps that you have all the outputs selected is the issue. Try selecting only one pair.

  27. I get in trouble when I tell people that ASIO4ALL is garbage, so I won't tell you that ASIO4ALL is garbage. With the onboard sound, you should be using the WASAPI driver. You sure aren't going to get a decent interface for 13 Euros. You're probably better off sticking with the Realtek chip.

  30. Ok if you did everything in my video and you still have an issue let’s try something else. 1- make sure to disable all audio input devices. You can start in Cakewalk preferences by unchecking all inputs. You can also do this in Windows sound settings as shown in video. As I said in the video best to uncheck all devices you are not using 2- in Preferences/Midi devices uncheck all outputs. Make sure none of your VST’s have midi output selected but by disabling outputs this should not matter. There’s a possibility of a feedback loop 🔁 happening. Screenshots of your Audio settings and midi devices might help us troubleshoot

  35. That depends on what the audio issues are. In this case, buying an Audiobox or Scarlett and continuing to monitor with bluetooth cans in MME would likely result in no improvement whatsoever, so first, they need to switch to WASAPI and hardwired cans. The Superlux 681's would be my choice if on a budget. If willing to spend a little more, Audio Technica ATH-50's or Sony MDR-7506. If the OP is doing completely ITB electronic music, the onboard CODEC should work just fine for monitoring. What MSI says about the onboard sound in that motherboard: "A high fidelity sound experience with exceptional acoustics and realism for studio level headphones." Marketing hype, but the fact that they're at least paying attention to it is good. They even use fancy Chemicon audio grade caps in the amp section. There's been a change in the past several years regarding onboard sound CODEC implementation. Gamers play for hours with headphones on, and game designers spend good money and dev time working on game sound. So the hardware used to drive those headphones can't sound like crap. Which brings up another point for the OP: go into the sound settings and make sure that any enhancements are turned off while you're working in your DAW. They add overhead and interfere with the true sound of your mix. I continue to hold out hope that some fine day, the people who make those onboard CODEC's (Realtek still seems to own the market) will release a truly usable ASIO driver for them. In the meantime, WASAPI usually works well. My 10-year-old laptop with its Intel High Definition hardware CODEC can run some fairly complex projects with multiple instances of A|A|S Player using WASAPI.

  37. Good to know! Thanks for clarifying this. I have been setting up a 2011 era PC for doing music because it has OpenGL2 (required by AT5 and other IK stuff) and more than twice the power of my current Audio PC. So far AT5.1.1 has not been an issue for me, but I just started trying out AT5 about a month ago. If I run into CPU issues, I might try 5.0.3, but I have been having fun with the X-Pedals and don't want to lose them!!

  39. Download and installation worked flawlessly! Piano installation as well! I have to say that YouTube videos do not do justice to the sound quality of this piano!!! For a freebie it is a must have! Haven't tried using it in a project yet to check CPU hit but seems to be extremely useable just out of the box. Grab it now!

  42. Ryzen and Threadripper CPUs prior to Vermeer (Ryzen 9 5xxx series) are sub-par when it comes to low latency performance. Multi-threaded performance is good. For less than the Ryzen 7 5700G, you can get the i9-10850k (10 cores, 20 processing threads, and 5.2GHz max turbo frequency).

  43. Those chords with that rhythm guitar(s) out wide, and the tonality of the drums - what an awesome and effective combo! You really have some great drum sounds here! But the chords are so inventive and the melody invents upon the top of that. Really original and cool. The lyrics are a mystery but who really cares! there are a couple of Level 42 songs I could think of with a similar feel, but other than that, nothing really suggests "80's" to me about this. I dunno, it doesn't matter. Great song. cheers, -Tom
