  1. I have no desire to be a dealer. I do what I do because of the music and the people, and that is plenty enough reward for me!

  7. I contested the ban...and had everyone I knew over there complain, so they lifted the ban. One of the overzealous forum Administrators banned me because he said that I was a "commercial dealer", and that was simply not true. I only sell personal licenses that I have purchased myself.

  8. KVR useless? That's harsh. Why so negative? I find it quite useful. Sometimes people give away licenses for free. You can buy and sell licenses. You can communicate with Uncle E from JRR shop to ask questions about deals. Some deals get posted there first and sometimes only there. Software developers keep you informed about their products and answer questions.

  9. I create in Ableton and mix in Pro Tools. You can save custom racks in Ableton and they are their own individual file. I set up a Stream Deck with icons for all of my effects, in category folders. When I am being creative all I have to do is tab a button (or two if I want to go in a folder) and I have my effect added to the track. The creativity power of the speed and ease of use is unmatched. Can you remember all the Reverbs or delays you have installed? I don't have to - hit the delay folder and pursue the two dozen or so icons and choose the spice I want to use. I find Ableton awesome for the creative process.

  10. Hybrid 3, Vacuum Pro, and Xpand!2 are all synths that I would not wish to be without. I think I have about $30 invested in them, not counting various $5 expansion packs purchased to qualify for PB BOGO's. If you're into building songs around arps, as I am, Hybrid 3 does things that no other synth I've tried can do. Very versatile arpeggiator that can be stacked 2x for very complex arpage. And it just sounds great. Xpand!2 is a crazy capable ROMpler with some great sounds. Vacuum Pro is a great emulation of a subtractive analog synth, especially nice if you aren't interested in recreations of specific instruments.

  11. It's kind of hard to see some of the items in Skyline bar. Need to make it easy on the eyes for us older guys. I prefer to the old Cakewalk by Band lab look I wish the bakers could possibly take a look at some of the themes that were available for old Sonar to give the new Sonar a new more polished, shiny, modern look so it will stand out compared to the other DAWS. just a thought!

  20. I find KVR to be absolutely useless these days. And many “administrators” are like condo board presidents- people who’ve had no opportunity to exert any power in their lives, and when they finally do, go berserk.

  21. Just shift+drag the selected notes to another lane, and click the clip with the notes left behind. You can then leave them separate or bounce back together.

  22. I realize the developer wrote "less than ideal recording quality," but the amount of undesirable artifacts -- the pops, very undesirable sounding clicks when keys are hit and various noises on the solo piano in the tracks called "Improvisation" and "Film" is not what I'd consider desirable low-fi. I love low-fi sample libraries when they go after a retro vibe. But that's about EQ, lower bit samples, etc., not tons of pops, clicks, and other artifacts. This just sounds like a really poorly recorded library. It's not as evident when mixed with other instruments, but once the piano is soloed, it's not something I would want. Pianobook has plenty of free character pianos without all of these problems. I can make a piano sound bad on my own by playing poorly, I don't need help from a poorly recorded sample library. Hard pass.

  25. I don't have an issue with the general flat look of it all, but that color scheme is hard on the eyes yeesh! I know that there are other color schemes under the hood, but they didn't do much for that department either, imho. I hope they allow themers to start modding again, cause I can't see myself using it long term the way it looks right now.

  27. flat vector graphics will be much less demanding on video cards and/or CPU/GPU. plus sets the stage for other platforms including tablets, macs, and so on. if nothing else, porting new portions of products across platforms becomes easier with a single UI approach. so we could spend the monies to get high performing graphical machines (ala gaming consoles) or stick with the flatter look and use the power for audio and video processing. as i do a lot of cad design work, i can say that going beyond flat vectors, 3D vector graphics (quality ones, not crappy ones) come with a heavy impact which loads the system screen display cards and likely requires better monitors as well. contemplate a nice looking knob (ahem, get your mind out of the gutter) with tapers and knurls, there can be a hundred vectored triangles and quads to form a single knob in a way that might look as nice as the image based ones we use today. now if you add hundreds of those kinds of objects + materials + animate them...

  29. Larry is a great part of any music community. But I seriously do understand how a moderator might notice how prolific Larry is and wonder how one person can do all of that or whether it's a team of people and then question if they might be compensated. Hmmm...or is Larry AI? But if that moderator spent a little time and examined Larry's posts -- which this KVR mod clearly neglected to do -- they'd notice that Larry doesn't inject his opinions on developers very often (with IK being the exception years ago) and Larry posts about a very wide range of developers, two things that you don't see from shills. So, yeah, banning Larry was a profoundly bad mistake and Larry deserved a serious apology for that. KVR, Cakewalk, or any forum should be thrilled to have Larry as a member. I know this community-- of course, including me -- is rightfully, enormously glad to have Larry as a member. Larry's irreplaceable. He's the Michael Jordan of deal posting. He literally is responsible for this subforum existing and being such a valuable resource to many people, including me. As far as KVR, I used to be a regular. I mostly enjoyed it, but it would get toxic from time to time. Not VI-Control level toxic, but toxic enough where I didn't think it was enjoyable as it should be and prefer the much friendlier vibe at this forum. We have a much smaller community, but overall --with only a handful of exceptions-- it's a very friendly and helpful group of people. Plus, we've got Larry, which is very nice.

  31. I installed it on my main DAW a started a new project to run it through some simple tasks using my typical workflow for creating a song. Right away I ran into a few issues. ( Bugs/Pilot error? ) My list gets longer every minute! But I'm not sure where I should post them? The feedback Loop? And boy do they ever need to get our custom themes happening! I'm stuck with Mercury as it's the only one with a white PVR. And now everything is ssssoooo tiny I am defiantly in squint mode! Took me a little while to spot the arranger inspector icon even though I knew it must still me there! What's with this trend in designing icons that are so obscure you need a cheat sheet on your desk to decipher? like someone else said< "you mean we have to pay to be beta testers?? "

  35. Nah, it's just another crappy software manager totally uncalled for. All my software is perfectly managed and doesn't require another manager to manage existing managers. Unless they are going to introduce bargain prices for industry standard software solutions on a rent-to-own basis, I don't see any reason to even look into it.

  36. Cool! I've been thinking about a plugin manager app for a long while now. This ties you to KVR, but they've already got a plugin database, so there's that. I wonder how well Devs keep their versions updated on KVR? I think iLok is missing out on a real opportunity to do something similar themselves.

  37. What happens if, with the selection as shown, and the Smart Tool enabled, while CTRL is pressed, you right drag a marquee around the notes you want to invert the selection of? I tried it here, and indeed, this did invert the note selection within the bounds of the resultant selection marquee.

  39. Maybe instead of trying to persuade people that you are not a dealer you should already become one? Then you won't have to fight false allegations and can make a living from what you do out of good will intentions. I bet, most developers and manufacturers would be hard pressed to find a better dealer.

  40. Or hit the X key twice (or whatever key you have Aim Assist bound to). The first press cleans up the remnants of it from the screen and the second turns it on, but does not show it.

  41. Nice. I didn't even know about Stream Deck. Looks awesome. But pricey. I love Live 12's new tagging system that allows me to tag everything (except for folders, unfortunately, but I can use the old color tags for that). Now I can also categorize and filter my plugins by type. I totally can't remember all my reverbs or delays or saturators or channel strips or eqs, etc. This comes in so handy. 😍

  43. You definitely need to run the VST plugin scanner after updating. Eventide rebuilt their installers so now all the VST3 are located in *.VST3 subfolders (E.G. SplitEQ is now in subfolder SplitEQ.vst3). As long as you run the scanner it shouldn't affect anything.

  44. You're welcome... I'm running Windows 10 on my music PC which is offline... It has just one account setup which is Admin and with UAC disabled... Every version of SONAR or Cakewalk I have to "Run as Administrator" or some things just don't work right, like Plugin Manager... That PC hasn't been online in quite some time and the only time it does go online is if I absolutely can not activate something through an offline method... When it does go online I make sure none of Microsoft's update bull-**** is running... Last thing I need is for them to start to "Ruin\Update" my pc... Their little homing pigeons are quick to find an open ethernet connection... I don't need **** that i disabled and deleted updated...

  45. Just installed it and posted around for a couple of minutes. Installations went smooth. Now to dive into the new browser, download the new packs and see how all the MIDI changes are working for me. In theory, or from what I saw, it should be really awesome for what I do so I'm pretty excited.
