Or you don't feel like spending an extra $50 (the price of entry, based on M-Audio's cheapest interface) and lugging around an extra piece of hardware just so you can compose and mix while traveling or perched in a coffee house. There's nothing inherently wrong with the Realtek hardware CODEC, I've actually read their datasheets, etc. For ITB work WASAPI Exclusive-on-Realtek will get you there just fine. I've seen EDM artists gigging live with audio coming straight out of their Windows laptops. And here's one anecdotal report: WASAPI-on-Realtek can do a notch faster latency than my PreSonus Studio 2|4 on my notebook using ASIO, go figger. Dropping the $50 becomes necessary the moment someone wants to record audio. There's just no way around that yet.3 points

Dang it. The next time they do the $125 everything offer, I'll grab it. For now...I wait. The $125 everything offer wasn't even an upgrade offer. It was $125 for everything.3 points

In somebodies defense, sometime you just spent a huge whop on the PC/Laptop and a set of decent speakers and you think maybe I should give this music thing a try now that I have a decent computer setup. You know, give it a go before I invest even more money on specialized gear and peripherals. Just saying.3 points

🤔?? But it was released years ago and so it must be garbage, right? Newer stuff by less experienced programmers at underfunded companies must surely be releasing superior products. and besides - how can it be the best if I already own it?? You're just depriving me of excuses to enlarge my plugin collection with more items I'll never get around to using. Doesn't that violate the ethics of this forum?2 points

I wanted to bump this one quick, because Chandler did a video when Scaler EQ came out to do basically the same thing with MDynamicEQ (currently on sale for $19 (regularly $76)). It is a little more involved to set it up with MDynamicEQ; however, this is very much worth noting since it uses functionality embedded into most Melda products that many folks either 1) do not use or 2) (more often) do not even know exist. I actually prefer videos that show this capability of the plugins over the "easy screen" overview, since the power of Melda plugins is in the editing view/multi-parameters. Unfortunately the number of tutorials covering editing view/multi-parameters rarely have "real world" examples included.2 points

Don’t forget one thing : what doesn’t work for you may work fo others - perhaps your issues are mostly system specific ?. I’ve had very few issues with CbB (and those i had were mostly user error), it is stable, very usable and thoroughly recommendable. But thats just my POV. YMMV but not mine. I paid for Sonar before it became CbB and i’ll do it again, no problem when Sonar comes out. YMMV2 points

So this randomising synth was in Andrew Huang's top list of 2023: https://vst.beatsurfing.com/music-production-tools/random/ It seemed interesting, but I initially shelved it to buy at a later point because I'm drowning in synths. Then I realised they had a "make your own bundle" option where you buy 3 of their plugins and get 40% on top of the sale prices: https://vst.beatsurfing.com/music-production-tools/make-your-own-audio-plugin-bundle/ So they got me. I picked Random, 7 Deadly Snares and Lunch Table, which all seem like cool plugins. Can't wait to never use them. Happy new year.1 point

That is absurd. KSHMR is a maaaaasive electronic producer, who has products through a gazillion companies. It would be like trashing Native Instruments/ Splice.com because the KHSMR sample packs are one of their biggest sellers / partnerships, despite controversies with those sample packs over plagiariasm with Mick Gordon's Doom OST. Lifeline Console / Expanse have absolutely nothing to do with any of the KSHMR stuff. They are exceptional plugins - both have replaced most of my lo-fi plugins, including RC-20 and Lo-Fi-AF (Unfiltered Audio), as they are far more versatile , with great programming / UI, and sound far better (specifically the full versions). Free lite versions are a no-brainer, since upgrading to full is often on sale for dirt cheap.1 point

Probably a few of us have Equivocate, which was free in the past. Current upgrade to Mastering Bundle is about $55. Curious what it changes to for those that bought Saturate for $15.20?1 point

On such roads, passing is permitted WHEN SAFE TO DO SO. That means no oncoming traffic. I stand by my statement. And, yes, those types of roads can be scary as hell. I have been guilty of passing when I shouldn't have. I was a teen, driving the family station wagon, with the family in it. I started a passing maneuver that I should have had plenty of time to complete, but I was young, inexperienced and didn't realize how much extra time it would take to pass because I was towing a boat with a car that had 7 people in it. An oncoming driver was forced off the road to their right. Scared the hell out of me and the rest of my family. I counted my blessings, and never made that mistake again.1 point

I have the everything bundle and I regret buying it, even though I got it for only 34€. The thing is, none of it offers the type of sounds that I'd actually use. But that might depend on the genre you're doing. Me, I like synthwave, trap, pop, rock. The Rigid Audio instruments are mostly soundscapes or somewhat experimental.1 point

We’ve been black listed. I’m probably a waist of time anyway because I haven’t found a bug in Cakewalk for probably 5 years So doubt I’d find anything wrong with Sonar. I was messing with Sonar Home Studio yesterday and the audio engine kept stopping. This just proves to me how far we’ve come since 2016. We forget those days and how you just block out what it was like. I don’t see how people can still be using those versions? I’m happy that I won’t ever have to go back there. Note that Home Studio was a lot more stable than Splat back then because it is so simple. I bought it for that reason. I was going to use it for live performance.1 point
